Notes
*The size portal affects individual forms in different ways. The cube loses jumping height but can perform successive jumps quicker. The UFO also loses jumping height and takes less time to begin descending, However, what is applicable to all forms is the same constant speed which is unchanging from the enlarged state, but gives the impression that while shrunken, the icons move quicker as a result of looking small.
* The size portal surprisingly changes the cube to the same design, which is the first default Icon, although the space between the two 'squares' is gone.

*The slow speed portal was introduced in Hexagon Force following the initially released speed portals.

*The copy from a copy portal inverts the chosen colour scheme. While a copy is existent, a collision will terminate the original, and vice versa, with each icon fully able to interact with its surroundings.

*When the icon enters a manipulation portal, the screen often flashes in an unusual manner. The gravity pads also act in the same way.
* The mirror portal effect is purely visual, and as such is not seen in the editor.

Trivia
*Gravity and mirror are the only options not available to begin in a custom level. But gravity can still be changed from start position.
*The secret area in Stereo Madness is currently the only level in which there is a form portal in a secret coin path.
*The deactivation portals are all coloured blue (except for the size portal, which is green), and vice versa (except for the Wave portal, which is a lighter blue than the other blue deactivation portals)
* The size portal is the only one that does not use blue as a deactivation portal, instead it uses green.
* A mirror portal hasn't been used in a main level since Electroman Adventures.

Description
Time Machine introduces the mirror portal, while steadily increasing in difficulty from previous levels, notably including a much higher amount of triple spikes. The first sequence involves a few short antigravity sections and some basic jumping patterns before the screen flips leading into a ship sequence. It is partly hall-based travelling through spike-littered passages, emerging as the cube with some more jumping until the screen flips again. After a short time, another antigravity section is met, ending by dropping the cube leading up to another mirror portal, which can potentially detract the focus needed to successfully judge the oncoming jump correctly. The following sections consist of reversed then normal direction segments, then in that order again with antigravity. The transitions between sections can be particularly tricky, each with slightly differing times before needing to jump in order to avoid collisions. Triple spikes also occur quite frequently. The concluding sequence is another ship sequence through a jagged passage, flipping gravity just before reaching the end of the level.

Trivia
* At the second-last "Anti-Gravity" Portal, speech can be heard saying "This is a Time Machine."

*Continuously jumping from the start will allow you to jump on the hanging spike wall. Still continuously jumping will allow you to jump off and continue as normal.

Update 1.9 is an upcoming update for Geometry Dash. It will be out for the Android, Windows Phone, Amazon Devices, and iOS. 17 October 2014 is speculated as the release date for iOS, with most rumours indicating early October. The level Blast Processing has been confirmed with possibly a Harder rating. A demon level has also speculated for release, now supposed to be Eternity.

Prior to the release of the 1.8 update, Robert Topala said in a conversation at Touch Arcade Forums:
<blockquote>"I have a lot of ideas for update 1.9 that could be huge for the game, but more on that after I release 1.8... muahaha"
</blockquote>

Previews
On August 13, 2014, Topala posted his first sneak preview image, showing five icons wearing different-colored headphones. It was revealed in a future hint image that it represented the custom music option and likely the icons may not get headphones.

On August 26, 2014, Topala created another image depicting three-dimensional blocks, arousing much excitement among Geometry Dash players. He continued with the idea on August 28, posting a picture on Facebook about what could be built using the blocks.

On September 6, 2014, another image was posted through Topala's social media accounts featuring several different new map components that would be used in future levels of Geometry Dash. This included two new icons, gear-like obstacles, and various different unknown types of blocks. The most prominent feature was a new thick blue portal that would likely result in another game mode being introduced. It was also released to the public that Topala would release the game to Steam, a popular internet-based social media platform.

On September 14, 2014, RobTop released an image on Facebook. It shows a blast, a processor, a book, an infinity symbol, and '2'. It is confirmed that the two next songs will be Blast Processing by Waterflame and Theory of Everything 2 by DJ Nate, with Theory of Everything 2 to be the Demon level, following similar lines to Update 1.6.

On September 21, 2014, another image was posted through Facebook and Twitter for the new "Custom Music" feature that will allow players to include music from Newgrounds in their custom levels. The image includes 10 icons with headphones at the bottom. It was the first picture to indicate that the update was "coming soon" rather than "work in progress." Upon the release of the image, Topala said that a sneak peek video for the next levels would be coming soon.

On September 28, 2014, Topala officially released the sneak peek video. The new, blue portal changed the icon to a triangular ball-like object similar to Wave Wave. It featured the level Blast Processing. On October 10, 2014, he also officially released another sneak peek video featuring the level Theory of Everything 2.

Trivia
* The new arrow form was inspired by the mechanics of the mobile game Wave Wave. It is supposed the concept was brought to light by popular player, Darnoc, who created a level (also named Wave Wave) mimicking its mechanics using condensed groups of gravity rings with the UFO.
