Cataclysm is a popular 1.9/2.0 Extreme Demon level, originally created and uploaded with a hacked verification by Ggb0y. The level was later updated and verified legitimately by Riot. It is featured and is one of the hardest levels in Geometry Dash, but slightly easier than The Hell Factory and A Bizarre Phantasm. The level currently sits at #69 on the Extended Demons List on the Official Geometry Dash Demonlist.

History
Cataclysm possesses a very interesting story within the Geometry Dash community.

A popular creator, known as Ggb0y, uploaded a video on 30 December 2014 him playing some parts from an upcoming extreme demon named Cataclysm, set to be the hardest level in the game up until that point.

Fast forward, and Ggb0y had 80,000+ attempts to try and verify the level, but still couldn't beat it. So, he used hacks to verify Cataclysm. Some time after, players like ZorroZ Zet and Lyra Bandicoot said that they beat it legitimately, but later confessed to hacking the level (It's clearly seen because of the facts that their waves, trail and jump rings were not pulsing in places they should've been).

After all this, everyone thought it was impossible to complete Cataclysm without any hacks. But eventually, an extremely skilled Korean player named Cyclic was thought to have completed it without any hacks on Stream, and he was considered to be "the first survivor" of the Cataclysm (which subsequently blew up Cyclic's channel and his popularity), though later admitting he hacked the level (and later, confessed to hacking every major demon he ever beat).

After Cyclic, a highly skilled player called GironDavid was the first to legitimately beat it, who still calls it his "best work" as of today. Soon after, a very skilled player called Sandstorm and an extremely skilled player called Riot did it at the same day. That made them the second and third players respectively to complete it (Riot's popularity also blew up after this). Then Powerbomb was the fourth, and Creepy Dash fifth. Soon, more and more people started to beat Cataclysm, and with the release of Bloodbath, Cataclysm was knocked down the list and was no longer the legendary hardest demon it was once considered.

However a year later, Riot let Ggb0y update Cataclysm by buffing the ship parts, adding an "extra death", as well as user coins in the level. Riot verified the newly buffed update of Cataclysm legitimately on stream. This version is now known as "New Cataclysm" and is considerably harder than "Old" Cataclysm.

Description
This level is an extreme demon, which means that it goes far beyond a demon level's difficulty. This means very few people are able to beat Cataclysm legitimately, and with the buffs added in the 2.0 update, this has only become more challenging.

The level's main background color is black, with the colors of most of the objects being red or orange.

Gameplay
The level starts off with a fairly easy cube, with a few tricks. It then turns into a very hard double speed wave that has tight spaces, many size change portals, and inconsistent and awkward timing. It then turns into an auto segment, briefly into a cube, where "CATACLYSM/GGBOY" appear briefly on screen. After that is a hard triple speed ship with gravity portals and many invisible size portals that require very light tapping and good transition controlling to avoid death. It changes back into a mini wave at half speed, but is easier than the first wave as it is not double speed. The player then changes into a double speed ball that requires very good timing and jitterclicks, then goes half speed and goes through very tight spaces, with a few speed changes to try and throw the player off. The ball then transitions to a double speed UFO with many jump rings, gravity portals and tight spaces with fairly awkward timing. This UFO then transitions to a half speed rocket that requires insanely straight flying, and also has jump rings and gravity portals; missing one jump ring results in a crash. The ship then transitions into a double speed cube that needs good timing, then turns into a half speed mini cube that mostly requires a little bit of mashing, before heading into the halfway section of Cataclysm, where the player becomes a ball that needs a little bit of jitter clicking and good timing.

Gameplay-wise this is the easiest part of Cataclysm, however, the level becomes dark with the obstacles flashing intermittently and it becomes hard to see where the player is going, and switches to the cube and ship a few times before going back to a ball, which can throw off players not used to the section. The level then goes into Cataclysm's last two hard sections, which are a very difficult ship and a tight half speed wave. The half speed ship is very difficult, having extremely tight spaces, size changes. and a short double section halfway through the ship. After this ship, the level goes into the last part of the level, which is a tight spaced half speed wave. Multiple players are known for crashing here, either out of nervousness and anxiety, or just screwing it up. After this moderately difficult wave, it goes into a robot section with a secret coin, and the level ends as a ship, with the well known area that says "GBOY", the creator's name, and "U NEED TO REST", finishing with "GG" and a two block space to fly through but requires to keep straight from flying as if there were spikes before ending. After that, a hall of fame of those who have finished the level legitimately can be seen and a message of Ggb0y admitting of hacking it and lastly thanking Riot for verifying the level and adding coins, from which the level ends.

User Coins
This level has 3 user coins. The first and last ones require some timing to obtain, but the second one is fairly easy to get with good memory and straight fly.
* The first coin is fairly easy to get with relatively simple timing. You must hit a blue orb, and you will get a coin. A teleportation portal will send you back on course.
* The second coin is the easiest of the coins. At the first segment in the dual ship, fly in between the spiked area to get the coin. You will exit the little space and continue the level. This route is agreed to be easier than the route that prevents the coin collection.
* The third coin towards the ending. You must hit the last blue jump and you go through the gravity portal. While in it, tap because there is an invisible orb that will take you up to the last coin.

Trivia
* Ggb0y had to hack to verify this map. However, since the harder update of Cataclysm, Riot has legitimately verified the level.
* It took Ggb0y 80088 attempts to verify the level, even when he used hacks. These attempts were likely faked.
* Other players like Lyra Bandicoot also had to hack to complete the map. This sparked a lot of debate which resulted in many users uploading videos on how to spot hackers of the game.
* Cataclysm was the hardest map ever created but, after creation of Bloodbath and Sonic Wave, those both became the hardest.
* The level is part of an official trilogy, consisting of (in order): Cataclysm, Bloodbath, and Aftermath.
* Riot is the first player confirmed to have beaten Cataclysm more than once, completing all three runs in livestreams, and the last one being a reverification of Cataclysm for Ggb0y to update coins into the level.
* Cyclic had admitted to hacking this level, so GironDavid was the first. Sandstorm & Riot both completed the level a week after GironDavid, making Sandstorm and Riot the second and third players respectively to beat Cataclysm. Powerbomb soon followed as the fourth, and Creepy Dash as the fifth.
* However, it is possible that Cyclic lied about hacking Cataclysm and all his other demons, So Cyclic might've actually been first, GironDavid second, Sandstorm third, Riot fourth, Powerbomb fifth, and Creepy Dash sixth.
* Players, who beat the level before it got updated have now been added to the "hall of fame" at the end of the level. This list comprises of the following players: Cyclic, GironDavid, Sandstorm, Riot, Powerbomb, Creepy Dash, MaxiS9, MrKebab, Smokes, SoulsTRK, Danilkaz, Elite, R3YGA, and Mabby01.
* Sandstorm is the second player to beat the updated version of Cataclysm, getting all three coins in the process. Not too long after, Kins0 and Quasar followed Sandstorm and became the respective third and fourth players to beat the new version of Cataclysm. Then, Brandon Larkin beat the updated version with 2 coins, making him the fifth person to beat the updated Cataclysm. Finally, as of April 21st, 2016, hotball1 completed the level on stream, making him the 6th, most recent and youngest player (11 years old) to complete the updated level.
* Ggb0y claims he made this level to replace Ice Carbon Diablo X. The level did end up becoming harder than it, but was eventually dethroned upon the publishing and rating of Bloodbath.
* The "GG" obstacle that appears at the ending has been imitated in many other difficult demon levels, and sometimes in impossible levels.
* Despite the fact that a player, Garomo, has appeared to have legitimately beaten Cataclysm before Mabby01, his legitimacy was not known before the Cataclysm coin update. Therefore, he is currently not on the "Hall of Fame" in the level.
* Renato 16 is the only person to have beaten Cataclysm on phone with a YouTube video. He beat the old version before the update as it appears to be the old version and gives stars, but it is unknown on which date he beat it because he uploaded the video after the update came out.
** It is possible he had the old version stored on his phone when he beat it.
* TrusTa has created a level which the player have to beat the old version of Cataclysm two times which is called "Multi Clysm". TrusTa has also beaten this level almost 30 times. He says that he is attempting to beat the level 100 times.
* The record for the lowest number of attempts to beat Cataclysm is 546, by Temporum.
**Unfortunately, the video that served as a proof cannot be watched anymore, as he put the video to private.
* There is a redecorated and redone version of Cataclysm made by LazerBlitz called Quest for Perfection. It uses a blue and black color scheme, and replaces the last wave of Cataclysm with a difficult mixed dual. Most other sections of the level are merged, however.
* Cataclysm is currently the most defeated demon on the Demon List, with more than 200 victors.
* Bloodbath and Aftermath are directly inspired by this level, being direct extensions of the original level. Hundreds of other levels are thought to be inspired by this demon as well.
** Ggb0y's level Infernal Abyss was supposedly an intended sequel to Cataclysm, however that idea was dropped once Bloodbath was released, being the official sequel to Cataclysm, and when Manix648 and Bianox took over designing it.
* Sunix himself stated that he believes Cataclysm is more like Hard Demon difficulty to him.

The Hell Factory is an extreme demon level that was previously unrated due to hacks, where it was removed from the servers and then significantly buffed with a more 2.0-like design. It was verified by Powerbomb and reuploaded to the servers where it gained a demon difficulty and 10 stars. It is currently #46 on the Official Geometry Dash Demonlist, below Artificial Ideology (#45) and above Aftermath (#47).

Description
The Hell Factory was originally a lot easier than the version that was verified by Powerbomb. It was buffed twice. The first time increased the difficulty quite significantly, but was still easier than the second buff. The second buff added 2.0 features to the demon, and multiple spaces were made much harder because of it. This buffed version was eventually verified by Powerbomb and is now considered one of the hardest demons on Geometry Dash.

Gameplay
Reple (0-24 %): The level starts off with Reple's part. It is extremely confusing and is a mini UFO with extremely precise timing. There are many spikes around and it's impossible to tell which ones are real and fake, making this part entirely memorization. The next section of the UFO is far easier as the obstacles are all visible. The next part is a half speed wave with many spikes and confusing times. Halfway through this wave, the screen goes completely dark, signaling the 2.0 design. The wave has a very tight space followed by fake lines and a fake line that uses 2.0 design to be even less conspicuous. The wave switches to a dual cube that is briefly regular size, but then quickly turns into a moderately difficult mini cube that requires good memorization of the inputs.

COSINE I (24-28 %): his first part then comes, a ship that is very difficult, as it is a triple speed mini ship with gravity portals and invisible spikes.

Luneth (28-36 %): A double speed wave with many obstacles and a gravity portal to throw off the player. The player then switches to a fairly quick but moderately difficult cube with some tricks and a few crucial timings.

Zelda (36-48 %): The segment is then followed by a ship that requires a little straight fly. Then to the second double speed wave. There are many thorn balls and obstacles in the way of the player, but keep mind that the pitchfork decorations are not solid. The pulsing diamonds are also not obstacles. After this wave, the wave becomes even harder, going into very tight spaces as a half speed wave, switching between sizes. The wave's end is very hard, as it quickly goes triple speed and goes into a very tight passage where spikes can cause the player to crash if they do not pay close attention to where they are.

Ryan LC (48-63 %): An insanely difficult mini cube with many invisible gravity and mirror portals with jump rings and hard to see blocks that make this part almost entirely memorization of inputs.

WOOGI (63-74 %): A very difficult ship with gravity portals and jump rings. The ship then switches to a UFO with crucial timing with size and gravity portals, followed by a mini cube with equally crucial timing, a notable feature in many of WOOGI's levels.

COSINE II (74-79 %): a ball with very precise timing. It may seem easy, but anxiety and other factors may cause the player to fail the crucial timing of this part.

Miner (79-83 %): A fairly short ship with a hard to see spiked passage with blue jump rings. Getting the timing right is crucial here. A message can be seen that it is designed by Yuri (aka Minus).

Hermes (83-95 %): This part still remains in double speed, there is also a reminder that his part is designed by Yuri. The first segment is a mini ship, while the second is an upside down regular size ship with many gears and spikes in the whole area to easily cause the player to crash. Many players have failed at this part of the level.

Koreaqwer (95-100 %): Two jumps and a list of the people who helped create the level. The level ends with a note that says "Verified by Powerbomb" and three free user coins.

User Coins
These user coins require no skill and are auto to get, and because of this they remain unrated. All of them are at the end and are basically a reward for completing the level.

Trivia
* The Hell Factory has been buffed multiple times and was previously slightly easier or harder than Cataclysm at one point. Its new buffs have made it much harder, however.
* COSINE is the only one in the level who has more than one fully joined part in this megacollab.
* Dreamer (Now Satum, the original uploader/verifier of the first version of The Hell Factory) originally hacked the version of the level, and was deleted from the servers, since at that time the official copy was removed.
* You can jitterclick at the beginning to go into a secret way that kills you at 13%.

The Hell Zone is a 2.0 Extreme Demon created (and hacked) by Cyclic and verified by Stormfly. It is a collaboration (and remake of 1.2 extreme level called The Hell Zone by Sohn0924) with 1234, Koreaqwer, and Ryan LC. Although this level was deleted before it was rated, it is generally considered a hell demon due to its extreme difficulty. The level was buffed and nerfed a couple of times before Cyclic exposed himself and had the level deleted.

On August 2nd, 2016, Stormfly verified The Hell Zone legitimately, but it was not rated until February 2017.

Description
The level's extreme difficulty can be due to it containing a fair deal of quadruple spikes in normal speed, as well as invisible portals and orbs, among others. Its decoration is similar to that of Necropolis, featuring a lot of Necropolis style crosses, and also contains a very large amount of the incredibly hard timing that Necropolis is infamous for.

Fails
* Luqualizer crashed at 81%.

Trivia
*This level used a near impossible level with the same name for the layout, created by Sohn0924. This level is still available to play today.
*It took Cyclic over 18,000 attempts to verify this level.
**However, Cyclic claimed that The Hell Zone and Sonic Wave were hacked.
* Stormfly verified the unnerfed version (he did nerf Cyclic's part a little though).
* KugelBlitZ holds the world record for the original version by Sohn0924, as he currently has 61%.
* This level is significantly harder on 60hz than on 144hz due to extreme timings.

"I used verify hack to verify The Hell Zone. Both 1st and 2nd version. For the video, I used 4 cuts. One at Koreaqwer's first part (the transition), one at 31%, one at 36%, one at the end of the level (just before the icon disappears) (this was to make look like verified with the same attempt as the beginning) Now I verified the 3rd version legit but I don't have a video cause I gave my laptop to my sister and I can only use a computer which all my family members use it and I can't record it cause of lag.
You don't have to believe me because I don't deserve it.
I'm very sorry that I tried to trick all geometry dash players and I'm especially sorry to my collab members: 1234, Koreaqwer, and Ryan LC. I had only 3 days left till my sister takes my laptop so I tried to verify in 3 days but I couldn't so I used verify hack..."
