The Tower Secret Ending is a series of four collaboration platformer levels hosted by Colon in Update 2.2. Created for his 2025 April Fools' YouTube project, it follows a canon divergence from the main story of the Tower's first floor. All four levels were published in a Harder-rated List on 4 April 2025.

Story

[edit | edit source]

This overview follows the events of Colon's video uploaded on 1 April 2025. The levels are referred to by the names of their canon counterparts.

Opening

[edit | edit source]

To trigger the secret route, the player must first enter The Cellar and reach the top of the vertical section. Once the surveillance robot finishes its warning, a bomb is dispensed from a chute on the left side. The critical step requires the player to pause the game the moment they pick up the bomb. If the player acts successfully, they can exit the level, return to The Tower, and enter while still holding the bomb.

The Tower

[edit | edit source]
Main article: The Foolish Tower

With the bomb in hand, the player must traverse the first half of The Tower as normal. Upon reaching the hidden alcove with the first blue coin, a skeleton (henceforth referred to as a 'Rattledash') and a light circle appear. This indicates that the player should press once to set the bomb down; doing so destroys the Rattledash and the wall to its left, revealing a ladder leading to a hidden section. Following the path to the end leads the player to a control room containing a generator. The player flips a switch, deactivating a large power supply, then returns to the ladder; on the return trip, all moving obstacles remain frozen. From there, the player must complete the second half of The Tower. However, due to the power outage, the player can no longer activate the button in front of the gate; instead, the gate remains open, allowing the player to pass undetected. The player passes the intruder trap set in the canon route and reaches a branching path where they must take the bottom route, leading to The Sewers. When the player exits the level, the passage that leads to the next level gives off an ominous red glow.

The Sewers

[edit | edit source]
Main article: The Deep Sewers

The player begins the second level at the first checkpoint. Gameplay progresses as normal until the elevator room; when they press the button, the ceiling mouthpiece drops instantly. This makes the floor collapse, dropping the player into the sewage below. This transports them through a pipe and into a long platforming corridor. The challenges involve periodic moving platforms, acid dispensers, and orange-transporter pipes. At the end of the corridor, the player lands on a raft and floats downstream to find an elevator. The elevator delivers the player to a bomb storage room as a robot, and the level ends with the player escaping through a crawlspace.

The Cellar

[edit | edit source]
Main article: The Lost Cellar

The player exits the crawlspace, which leads to the bomb chute at the top of The Cellar. A bomb drops out of the chute after the player and automatically ignites. The player tosses the bomb at the Rattledash beneath the (inactive) surveillance robot, but the Rattledash kicks it upwards. The bomb explodes in front of the robot, destroying it and opening an alternate route involving looping platforms that lower when the player stands on them or a button. At the end of the section, the player reaches an exit near the top of the level (rather than at the bottom in the normal route).

The Secret Hollow

[edit | edit source]
Main article: The Sneaky Hollow

The player emerges from a cave and traverses through a section above the hollow. They reach a factory with blue spiked balls rolling on conveyor belts, which they must ascend to find a machine that converts metal scraps into more spiked balls. When the player enters the machine, they transform into a ball, allowing them to backtrack to a hallway with a spiked floor and cross it by flipping gravity and landing on the ceiling. At the end of the section is an elevator, which lowers the player into the second room of The Secret Hollow.

This time, because the player is a ball rather than a cube, the cage trap does not flag them. This allows them to safely enter a hideout inhabited by thorns and beasts, where they reach a split path. With the top path blocked, the player drops down the bottom path, which leads to a dead end. The player tries to backtrack, only to find a mob of thorns blocking the exit. Luckily for the player, a stalactite drops into a crate, producing a jetpack for them to use. A chase sequence follows, in which the thorns, as well as the magma beasts from Viking Arena and the floating beasts from Deadlocked pursue and attack the player, respectively.

At the end of the path, the player drops through a hole, leading to a secret treasure stash containing many stars, moons, and mana orbs. However, as the player progresses, lightning strikes three times, morphing the collectables into Rattledash heads as it becomes clear they have fallen into a trap. Rattledash himself appears on a throne constructed with bones, greeting the player before engaging in a five-phase boss fight. To win, the player must hit Rattledash with five bombs. Doing so completes the final level and ends the route.

Ending

[edit | edit source]

With all four levels complete, Rattledash appears and engages in dialogue with the player once they leave the final level, warning them that they will not survive their next encounter. The player receives a chest containing 3,000 mana orbs, 200 diamonds, three Demon keys, and a custom Rattledash cube icon. Ten seconds after closing the chest, Rattledash reappears, revealing the entire route was an April Fools' joke.

Ending dialogue

Underlines denote shaking text.
  • Well, well, well...
  • I suppose you were stronger than I thought.
  • I guess I'm nothing more than a pile of bones after all...
  • But you haven't seen the last of me.
  • I WILL be back.
  • And the next time we cross paths...
  • I'LL KICK YOUR ASS
  • ...
  • Perhaps another time.
[Player receives chest]
  • Oh hey, one more thing.
  • None of this was real.
  • April Fools!!!!!

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Rattledash's chest takes the appearance of a 100-key chest from the Treasure Room.
  • Colon's video was nominated for Best Video at The Geometry Dash Awards 2025; it went on to place third.
  • On 15 April 2025, a Geode mod was released to simulate the experience of playing through the Secret Ending. However, there are two stipulations regarding rewards:
    • The levels played are not separate copies from the ones uploaded by Colon, and thus the player cannot collect rewards from them twice.
    • Rattledash's chest is not present.
