Heartbeat is a 1.9/2.0 Extreme Demon collaboration level by KrmaL, LmAnubis, and EternaswipVMAX, verified and published by KrmaL. It is themed around the inside of a heart beating, hence the name, and is known for its awkward gameplay relative to other levels, as well as spamming, tight spaces, tricky memorization, and timings. It was regarded as one of the hardest Extreme Demons at the time, but it is now one of the easier Extreme Demons nowadays.

Description
Heartbeat begins with a half-speed cube section with a blind jump and consists of several sets of double-spike jumps. This section has a dark atmosphere with the background flashing dark red at the music's beat of a heartbeat. The jumps get harder, and the music speeds up. The next part contains some invisible orbs that the player must hit to continue. The part after is blue orb spam with a fake ceiling, which the player must deliberately miss one of the blue orbs to fall upwards.

Heartbeat, by KrmaL, is a Classic 2.0 Extreme Demon. KrmaL started making the level in late 1.9, and finished early 2.0. Heartbeat is a Red level that consists of hard timings throughout the level. Many consider this an easy-Extreme Demon. Heartbeat will help you get better at Wave Spam, Hard Timings, Orb Spam, and Hard-To-See Gameplay.
The next part is a mini-cube section with a bunch of spam and tricks to throw the player off. Next is a double-speed memory cube section with columns of moving orbs, followed by a spike corridor with a row of pink orbs that requires the player to hit the middle of the orbs. Afterwards, there is a memory section containing many tricky orb configurations with gravity portals, including orbs inside portals.

Description
Afterwards, there is a ball part with a bit memorization, speed changes, and timings, followed by a similar dual-ball segment, and the music gets intense. This dual is more basic tight orb inputs, but one of the slopes is accidentally inverted.
Heartbeat starts off at half speed with a blind jump, and consists of a couple simple 2-spike jumps. The jumps start getting harder and the music starts to get faster. The next part has some invisible orbs that the player must click to continue. The part after is blue orb spam with a fake wall that the player needs to go, and then the player starts Falling Up. The next part is a mini cube with more orb spam, this time with fakes. The Next part consists of double speed Orb Memory where the play has to click specific orbs. The Next Part is a tight Pink orb part Where the player must click in the middle of the orbs. Then there is more basic memory orb clicks after that, with orb inside portal clicks.

The next part is a ball part with some speed changes and tight clicks. There is a short dual right after, and the music starts getting intense. This dual is more basic tight orb clicks, but one of the slopes is inverted for some reason. The Next part consists of very hard clicks, with the music getting very intense, before transitioning into a ufo. The ufo consists of hard timings and some spam. After that, there is a yellow-blue portal thing that syncs with the music. Then there are more basic ufo timings, and spam at the end of the ufo.
Next, there is an easier yet tricky ball part, followed by a cube part with a single orb. The music ramps up in intensity before transitioning into the UFO. This difficult UFO segment features numerous tight timings and requires a bit of spamming, as well as tricky gravity portals and orb usage. After that, there is a row of alternating yellow and blue gravity portals that syncs with the music. Then there are more basic UFO timings, ending the part with lots of UFO spam, having spikes gradually poking upwards. This section leads to a brief auto cube section at half speed that drops the player downwards as the music drops.

There is a tiny cube part at half speed before the wave part. The wave part consists of 3x speed Spam throughout it, and it syncs with the music. The platforms are moving up and down so the spam keeps getting tighter, and more open. The are a lot of half and 3x speed portals throughout this wave spam. Then, it becomes mini wave spam for a short period of time that syncs with the music. This wave part repeats with the last two things. After the first section, there is memory wave with more speed portals and mini portals, with a dual at the end. After the dual is a tight wave spam with even more speed portals, before ending off with mini wave spam at 3x speed.
The player enters a long wave spam section, switching from triple speed and half speed, and features size changes, everything syncing with the music. The platforms move up and down; the required spam gets tighter as the player slows down, and the space becomes more open when becoming mini, which also well syncs with the music. This sequence repeats a couple of times. Afterwards, there is a memory wave sequence with more speed and size portals, culminating in a dual at the end. After the dual, there is a tight wave spam containing even more speed portals that requires going through shrunk corridors to the corners at half speed, which goes up and then down, before ending it with mini-wave spam at triple speed.

The ship starts at double speed, and basic straight fly. The music gets calmer here. There is some orb timings and straight fly for the middle of the ship. Then it has some memory at the end, with more orb timings, and a straight fly to end off the ship. The next part consists of a slow speed robot, with some hard-to-see jumps, then some memory in the middle of the robot, before ending off with a climb to the next part.
The player enters a long wave spam section, switching from triple speed
The music calms down and transitions into a double-speed ship sequence with many orb timings, tight manoeuvres, and memory sections, ending it off with a straight-fly with spikes closing in. Next is a half-speed robot segment with numerous tricky jumps that are hard to see, then some memory in the middle of the segment, before ending with a climb to the next part.

The end of the level consists of some orb in portal clicks, before the final click of the level, which is pretty tight.
The final part is a fairly long cube section consisting of some orb-in-portal inputs that require the player to flip around quite a bit, with a final trick portal at the end, which is a tight timing. The level ends with text of the creators' names, 'By AirSwipe Krazy Anubis'.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Heartbeat begins with a half-speed cube section with a blind jump and consists of several sets of double-spike jumps. This section has a dark atmosphere with the background flashing dark red at the music's beat of a heartbeat. The jumps get harder, and the music speeds up. The next part contains some invisible orbs that the player must hit to continue. The part after is blue orb spam with a fake ceiling, which the player must deliberately miss one of the blue orbs to fall upwards.

Afterwards, there is a ball part with a bit memorization, speed changes, and timings, followed by a similar dual-ball segment, and the music gets intense. This dual is more basic tight orb inputs, but one of the slopes is accidentally inverted.

Next, there is an easier yet tricky ball part, followed by a cube part with a single orb. The music ramps up in intensity before transitioning into the UFO. This difficult UFO segment features numerous tight timings and requires a bit of spamming, as well as tricky gravity portals and orb usage. The final part is a fairly long cube section consisting of some orb-in-portal inputs that require the player to flip around quite a bit, with a final trick portal at the end, which is a tight timing. The level ends with text of the creators' names, 'By AirSwipe Krazy Anubis'.

User coins

[edit | edit source]
  • The first coin is located at 5% in the first cube section. To collect it, while upside down, the player must hold jump to avoid activating a barely visible blue orb in a block after landing, which takes them through a fake cave passage below with a barely noticeable coin.
  • The second coin is located at 77% in the ship sequence. To collect it, the player must avoid hitting the yellow orb after entering the gravity portal to enter the lower tunnel with a bit harder spike obstacles and obtain the coin.
  • The third and final coin is located at 90% in the final cube section. To collect it, the player must jump over the last blue pad in the tunnel and hit an orb inside a gravity portal above with the coin. Afterwards, the player returns to the main path using several gravity portals.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Upon the creation of the modern Demonlist on Pointercrate on 4 January 2017, Heartbeat was placed at #21, above Cataclysm and below AcropoliX.
  • Heartbeat was verified just before KrmaL took a break.
  • Heartbeat contains a fake secret way that allows the player to reach 99% before abruptly stopping them.[1]
  • Heartbeat received criticism for its song and gameplay, which contains tons of spamming.
  • The placement of Visible Ray on 29 May 2019 pushed Heartbeat into the Legacy List of the Demonlist.
    • Heartbeat later returned to the Extended List after the Demonlist increased from 100 to 150 in June 2019.
      • The placement of Omega on 8 April 2020 pushed Heartbeat into the Legacy List for the second time.

Errors

  • There is an inverted slope in the ball section at 29%, which could make the transition inconsistent.
    • On 22 July 2025, KrmaL, in response to a Twitter post, acknowledged that creators back then had no way to view hitboxes, and he crashed at this section many times while verifying, not knowing why until like eight years later.[2]
      • KrmaL would jokingly update and 'fix' the part by switching the inverted slope from the top to the bottom.[3]
