Infernal Abyss is a 2.0/2.1 Extreme Demon collaboration level created by Ggb0y, Manix648 and Bianox and published by Ggb0y. The level received criticism for its fairly unfun gameplay, resulting in a highly disliked level. It was being verified by Mince after being passed to Riot, Aurorus, TrusTa and Brandon Larkin. However, YGYoshI hack-verified the level before Mince could verify it, passing it off as legit and leaving everyone convinced until he confessed a year later. He, however, did not initially upload it to the servers out of respect. That was until Manix648 finally permitted him to upload it due to Mince's inactivity, after which it subsequently received its rating. Alias (then known as Jacob Firestone) beat his version of the level and uploaded it, but his version was not rated as Manix648 considered YoshI's version official. On 14 October 2021, the level was moved to Ggb0y's account a month after being pushed into the Legacy List.
History
Mince, a player who had previously received a shoutout from TrusTa, was verifying the level. Meanwhile, YGYoshI, a well-known player, hack-verified an older version of the level on a copy and released a video to YouTube. However, he took down the video after being urged by Mince. This situation arose from a misunderstanding, as Mince was dealing with personal issues and was inactive in the game. Believing that Mince had quit, Manix allowed YGYoshI to upload the level and the video.
Additionally, another player named Jacob Firestone (now known as Alias) had legitimately beaten a nerfed version of the level and uploaded it (as he also thought Mince had quit). Mince managed to get 86% on his version on stream before this happened. The currently rated version of the level is the one YGYoshi hack-verified. This version was unofficially verified by BlassCFB, as he was the first victor.[1]
On 8 January 2025, KugelBlitz verified a buffdate for the level,[2] seven years after being announced on 22 May 2017.[3] KugelBlitz stated in the comments of Exen's video that the version they verified is the original version Mince had before dropping it. It is improbable that Ggb0y will update the level due to his avoidance of the game.
Gameplay
- 0-18%: The level starts with a mini-ship sequence featuring a key to unlock a coin at the end of the level. Numerous decorations create the feel of lava, and there is art of a dragon in the background. The spaces here are incredibly tight and hard to manoeuvre through. The player then becomes a ball with much harder timings and some orbs. There are also lava balls emerging from underneath as decoration. A mini-cube follows, with blocks appearing to jump off it and some blue and green orbs. Right before the drop, the player is taken into a very tight space with four blue orbs to hit as a mini-UFO before turning into a wave.
- 18-48%: The drop is divided into three parts; a wave, a UFO and a ship. The wave is extremely hard and requires precise and fast clicks as the player avoids many spikes, and a well-decorated dragon appears from the ceiling. The UFO contains timings with pink orbs and gravity portals scattered throughout the segment. The main obstacles are spikes and gears, which fill the entire part. The ship part takes up half of the drop section and features a lot of straight flying while going through gravity portals to the song's beat. Halfway through the ship, the player becomes mini, and the level becomes much darker, thus making it even harder to avoid the numerous spikes.
- 48-70%: A short auto with another dragon art piece follows as the song slows down. The player turns into a robot with a moon in the background and must clear many difficult jumps and orb timings before being teleported into an extremely tight, short, mini-straight flying section before turning into a robot again—this time mini, but with just as hard timings as the regular one before. The player then goes into a mini-ball with even more extreme timings and lava appearing from both the floor and ceiling. The word 'Go!' appears before going into a UFO part. This part, notorious for its inconsistency, contains many hard orbs to hit and a couple of tricky jumps before going into a mini-wave.
- 70-100%: This mini-wave segment begins with a problematic teleport transition. It contains many tight and fast clicks while changing size multiple times. It is decorated in a very dark way and filled with spikes. Next comes a very hard cube segment with extreme orb timings and a ship used to transition into the next part, an auto mini cube with a moon appearing in the background as the player hits a jump pad and enters a dragon's mouth. It starts with tricky mini-cube timings and then quickly goes into a robot, ball and UFO. The player stays as the UFO and does some more timing jumps with a blue and green orb, then a ball and cube, before entering the last part. Then, the player enters one final ship sequence with the level creators' names, the level name, 'GG' and the one-user coin between two saws. Then, the level ends with the art of a red dragon and the words 'The End'.
User coins
- The first and only coin is located at the very end of the level. To collect it, the player must fly between the sawblades near the top at 97%. However, for it to appear, they need to collect the key during the ship at the beginning of the level by flying between the block and the sawblade to the right of the dragon.
Trivia
- The level is free to copy.
- The level contains 73,157 objects.
- The level is 1m 4s in length.
- The level was initially placed at #4 on the Demonlist on 4 January 2017, above Athanatos (#5) and below Bloodbath (#3).
- Although it was considered easier than Bloodbath and Sakupen Hell after the release of the Demonlist, nowadays, it is widely considered harder than both.
- According to Ggb0y, Infernal Abyss was intended to be a sequel to Cataclysm.
- This is one of Technical's least favorite Extreme Demon levels. He gave it an enjoyment rating of 2/100, only surpassed by 1/100 for The Hell World.
- There is a remake of this level called Infernal Void by Rolopok, which Timo verified.
- Around 16 July 2021, Infernal Abyss was updated to add meme photos spread throughout the level. RobTop reverted it; however, it went to a version older than the one before the meme update.
- The updated level description was written in May 2022, with 'Hacked by Anaban.' referencing the events of November 2016, during which Anaban hacked various accounts.
- The pre-extension of this level inspires Avernus as its extension of the level.
- The placement of Spectrum Rave on 14 September 2021 pushed Infernal Abyss into the Legacy List of the Demonlist.
- Previously, hidden text behind the dragon art at the beginning of the level read 'vore'. This text was only accessible to see in the editor, and it has since been removed.
- KugelBlitz verified Mince's original level version on 8 January 2025. It was the intended version of the level before Mince dropped it, and YGYoshi's version was rated instead.
