JonathanGD is an Indonesian player and level creator. He is known for creating Dark Travel, Future Funk, and the BuTiTi trilogy. He grew in fame during Update 2.1 with the rise of his effect XL Demons and is now very popular amongst the community. Like Darwin, he is also known for making levels that lag heavily on mobile devices and low-end PCs, even sometimes crashing them if Low Detail Mode is not used. In addition, he is known for having disproportionately difficult timings at the end of his levels, although this is no longer a feature he adds.

Levels

[edit | edit source]
Unrated levels
  • Beginning of Climax - His planned entry into Viprin's fifth Creator Contest, for which he missed the deadline.
  • Cloudy Adventures - As the title suggests, a cloud-themed level, with some clouds being deadly and some being platforms.
  • Discordant - A collaboration with DurianHead, CheeseSlayer, and Sink4232. It was his entry into the Official Geometry Dash Forum Tournament.
  • for olympic 10
  • future funk iii - A joke level that was released on April Fools' Day 2024.
  • Garden Land - A 1.9 level and his first non-remake level.
  • Geometrical Begins - His first 2.0 level.
  • InstanT preview 2
  • LCH Megacollab 7
  • New Style Madness - JonathanGD's first level. It is supposed to be a remake of Stereo Madness, although the level shares similarities with Blast Processing.
  • Retry
  • The Game - An unfinished collaboration with Serponge.
  • The Memories - His final 1.9 level, although being updated in Update 2.0.
  • Theory of Angel - His second level ever created. It is a 1.5-styled remake of Theory of Everything.
  • Ultra Demoncore - His hardest 1.9 level, according to JonathanGD himself.
Harder levels
  • BuTiTi (Featured) - His first Featured level and the one that popularised him.
  • Crystalia (Featured) - His entry into the Crystal Gauntlet Contest.
Easy Demon levels
  • Erou (Epic)
  • Monolithos (Epic) - His entry to the Discord Gauntlet Contest, for which he missed the deadline.
  • The Farewell (Star-rated) - His first Easy Demon level. It was made to say farewell to Update 2.0 (which, ironically enough, was posted two hours before the release of Update 2.1). It was also the first XXL level he made.
Medium Demon levels
  • Biru (Epic) - His entry into Viprin's 9th Creator Contest, in which it got first place.
Hard Demon levels
Insane Demon levels
  • Beyond The Nature (Star-rated) - An old 2.0 level rated five years after release.
  • BuTiTi II (Epic) - A harder 2.1 sequel to BuTiTi and the second instalment of the trilogy.
  • Dark Travel (Featured) - His entry into Viprin's 8th Creator Contest.
  • Future Funk II (Epic) - The sequel to Future Funk, but it is slightly shorter in length and has a greater number of objects than the original.
  • RAMBreaker (Starred) - Seemingly one of his craziest levels ever created. It was rated six years after release.
Extreme Demon levels
  • BuTiTi III (Epic) - The sequel to BuTiTi II and the last instalment of the trilogy. It is currently his hardest-rated level, being comparable in difficulty to Black Blizzard and Astral Divinity. It was originally verified by Nexus and bug-fix-verified in Update 2.2 by PancakeKnight.
  • Dark Odyssey (Epic) - A remake of Dark Travel. It was going to be his entry to the GDS CC (Geometry Dash Discord Server Creator Contest), but he missed the deadline.
  • The Lost Existence (Featured) - An XL Levelution level that was verified by Luqualizer. It took over a year to get rated.
Upcoming levels
  • Dream Weaver - An upcoming sequel to Ocular Miracle hosted by Eridani.
  • Randomcore - JonathanGD's Entry to the Random Gauntlet Contest, which missed the deadline and is now put on hold. According to his streams, JonathanGD plans to overhaul it once he returns to it, including remaking the gameplay to be at a Medium/Hard Demon difficulty. It uses SEGFAULT by FLOOR BABA as the song.
  • Real Travel - The project that JonathanGD is currently working on, of which he has amassed a total of 6,600+ hours of editor time and 500+ total building streams. It is a 15-minute-long Extreme Demon planned to be Zodiac-difficulty according to best estimates, using 'Windglass' by Lchavasse as its song. The building process started in June 2023, so it will strictly adhere to the 2.1 editor limitations. It is currently 54% complete, and JonathanGD has released five sneak peeks of it on his YouTube channel, along with a gameplay preview of the 90-second dual, over 11 minutes into the level.

  • Kanons - An Extreme Demon-difficulty level that JonathanGD built to take a break from building BuTiTi III. However, the level was discontinued.

  • NCS Gauntlet contest level - A level that was supposed to be made for the NCS Gauntlet Contest, before being cancelled after three days due to a lack of motivation, and so that JonathanGD could go back to working on Real Travel.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Despite the rate on Beyond The Nature, JonathanGD's first rated level was BuTiTi. Beyond The Nature was unexpectedly rated in May 2021.
  • JonathanGD stated he is not a fan of his older levels. It happened during a live stream when a fan of his excitedly said that JonathanGD had a new rate, and JonathanGD believed it was Erou. Instead, it was his six-year-old level RAMBreaker, and he was unhappy about it, saying that his newer-rated older levels are trash (Beyond The Nature and RAMBreaker) and that they are 'even worse than BuTiTi'.
  • JonathanGD is well known for making traps or joke messages when a player crashes at the very end of a specific level, the most notable being the infamous difficult timings at 99% on Future Funk.
  • JonathanGD was featured as an interviewee in RobTop's video commemorating Geometry Dash's 10th anniversary.
  • JonathanGD is known for using the Pokémon Snorlax as his profile picture, as well as his old one using Chespin.
  • JonathanGD also plays TETR.IO and will sometimes stream himself playing it. He is currently U rank.[19]
  • JonathanGD lost list points four times when Athanatos, Black Blizzard, Boogie, and Digital Descent fell into the Legacy List.
  • Brandon Larkin jokingly calls him 'Bad Bad Jonathan' due to how frustrating Brandon finds JonathanGD's levels to be.
  • JonathanGD has the longest streak for any Geometry Dash Award, having won the Best XL Demon award four years in a row.
  • JonathanGD stated in the Real Travel FAQ that Real Travel will be around the difficulty of Zodiac as a whole, or like beating '7-10 Long length Insane Demons in a row'. In addition, he estimates that Real Travel will be harder than his current hardest, Digital Descent.
  • After Dark Odyssey, JonathanGD no longer plans to make any sequels to his levels, as he has stated many times during his streams.
    • However, on 1 April 2024, JonathanGD released Future Funk III, although made as an April Fools' joke.
  • Many of JonathanGD's levels before Update 2.2 have copy passcodes that are the same as the music ID of the song the level uses (e.g. Dark Odyssey's passcode is 693041, and the song Dark Odyssey uses, Dark Matter Suite, has the ID 693041). Dark Travel is an exception to this, as while it uses the same song as Dark Odyssey, its passcode is 963041.
