Kyouki (狂気) is a 2.1 Extreme Demon level by Demishio.[1] It features fast gameplay with nearly impossible timings and quick game-mode changes, making it very difficult to learn. Demishio designed the gameplay with his skill set in mind.

Demishio verified Kyouki on 24 November 2022 after a death at 97%. He streamed himself playing the level for 175 days, roughly three hours a day, for a total of 501,997 attempts (258,510 to verify and 243,487 for playtesting).

Description

  • 0-12%: Kyouki begins with a fast cube section, with many game-modes, like the ball, spider, robot, etc. The game-modes change very rapidly, and it takes a long time to learn this part. Many pads, portals, and orbs have bright, neon designs. There is a tight wave near the end, and after 12%, the player goes into a triple-speed change into the next section.
  • 12-21%: The next area is rapid game-mode switching, fast speed and tight timings. Several tight normal-wave and mini-wave sections are here, with frequent speed changes and tighter timings with the ball, robot, and spider. There are also several tight flying sections floating in the air.
  • 21-30%: This section carries the same aesthetic as the others, with cube, ball, spider, and robot timings. At 26%, the player becomes a dual wave and must spam through a tight corridor. A fast cube follows that, with a tight mini-wave at the end. There are many tight timings and almost frame-perfect clicks here.
  • 30-40%: This section starts with a tight ship, then continues with the neon, spider, ball, and robot timings section. A swift wave/mini-wave section begins at 36%, ending at 39% with a slow UFO section.
  • 40-49%: From 40%-43%, there are spider/robot timings, orbs, pads and mini portals. After 43%, there is a squished monster straight-fly. After this, the duals begin with a cube dual, turning into a cube-ball section. Towards the halfway point of the level, there are mini-wave sections with the UFO, ball, robot, and spider.
  • 49-58%: Past the halfway point, the level gets somewhat slower and has many different hard duals like cube-ball and cube-robot. This section concludes with a tight UFO-ship dual, containing tight clicks and almost invisible gameplay.
  • 58-68%: The level gets fast again and starts with the illusion of triple-spikes falling on the player. It is close to the first section but much tighter and faster. This section has no duals and is a very bright, epileptic section of the level.
  • 68-78%: The level slows down until 72%, and the rest of the section is tight duals. The duals here are tight and fast: wave-wave, cube-cube, cube-ball, and cube-ship.
  • 78-88%: This section starts with a Japanese symbol and then proceeds to a fast, very tight wave/mini-wave with gameplay close to Slaughterhouse's mini-wave sections. It features many tight game-mode switches, culminating in a tight double-speed straight-fly section.
  • 88-94%: This section is much slower than the other sections, mainly focusing on a wave, then UFO, then slow cube gameplay. The section ends with a small, neon straight-fly.
  • 94-100%: There is a normal-speed cube section with tight orbs, timings and dash orbs. At 98%, there is an extended triple-spike. After passing the triple spike, the player encounters an end screen with multiple instances of the word 'Kyouki' flashing.

  • Duv beat Kyouki in 310,399 attempts, making it the highest attempt count on the level.[3]
  • Laysah beat Kyouki in the fewest attempts, taking only 14,839 attempts to beat it.[4]

Trivia

  • Kyouki was placed at #3 on the Demonlist on 2 January 2023, above Abyss of Darkness and below Slaughterhouse.
    • This addition to the Demonlist pushed Sakupen Circles out of the Top 5, Spectrum Cyclone into the Extended List, and Jamboree into the Legacy List.
      • Coincidentally, Spectrum Cyclone and Jamboree are two fully solo levels, just like Kyouki. The latter is also inspired by the former.
      • Kyouki was also the first level placed on the Demonlist in 2023.
  • Kyouki was the former hardest level published by its verifier for almost three years. It was surpassed by Subsuming Vortex on 11 November 2025.
  • Kyouki was ranked #96 in Geometry Dash Today's list of 'The Top 100 Greatest Geometry Dash Levels Of All Time'.
  • Kyouki (狂気) translates to 'craziness', 'insanity', or 'madness' in Japanese. Both this and the level's description are derived from the song's name used in the level.
  • Opinions on Kyouki's difficulty varied. While Demishio never intended the level to be Top 1, some skilled players believed it should have been placed at #1, such as lolwut and Laniakea. The level's first victor, Zoink, thought the level was Top 3-4 in difficulty, while the second victor, Taiago, believed it should have been Top 2-3, and Trick, who considered that it should be placed above Slaughterhouse.
  • Kyouki is part of the community-made 'ASK Trilogy', along with Acheron and Slaughterhouse.
  • Kyouki was formerly both Japan's hardest created and beaten level simultaneously. Japan's current hardest Demon is Silent clubstep, beaten by MeQ8cNv43s6A.
  • Kyouki was the first fully solo level since Conical Depression to reach the Top 3 hardest levels on the Demonlist.
  • The placement of Ashley Wave Trials on 1 March 2026 pushed Kyouki out of the Top 20 of the Demonlist.
