Moderators are Geometry Dash players whose accounts have been granted special tools for monitoring and moderating player activity, introduced in Update 2.0.
*Current moderator list

Description
Moderator status is assigned at the developer's discretion, and a player may hold more than one simultaneously. As of Update 2.11, an M badge appears next to the username on profile pages and comments for all moderator types except leaderboard moderators. Leaderboard moderator and moderator status are not mutually exclusive.

*Leaderboard Moderators monitor global and level-specific leaderboards for illegitimate submissions and manage player allowlisting for the global Top 1,000 and Extreme Demon leaderboards. They hold a higher priority when suggesting Demon difficulty ratings. The role was first assigned in Update 2.11 and formally included in Update 2.2.
*Moderators can suggest levels to RobTop for rating and hold higher priority when suggesting Demon difficulty ratings. Moderator comments are highlighted in light green (<code>#C8FFC8</code>).
*Elder Moderators hold all moderator abilities, with the additional ability to delete comments, issue temporary comment bans, remove unrated user levels from the server, and allowlist scouted Newgrounds artists. Comments are highlighted in dark green (<code>#4BFF4B</code>).
*Developer holds all moderator abilities. Comments appear highlighted in cyan (<code>#32FFFF</code>), though the elder moderator badge remains visible.

14 September 2026 update
On 14 September 2026, RobTop announced that there will be major changes to the Moderator system in the upcoming Update 2.209:
*Moderators will be renamed to Rating Advisors, and Elder Moderators will be renamed to Moderators to better illustrate their roles.
*Applications for positions will be permanently closed.
*Promotions and demotions will no longer be publicly announced.

RobTop also announced that he was reducing the team by roughly half to give each person's recommendations more weight. Forty-three players were then demoted from their Moderator positions, including three Elder Moderators (although one player remained as a Leaderboard Moderator). The Leaderboard Moderator role is unchanged, and applications will still be open for that position.

Trivia
General
*As of 15 September 2026, there are 52 Moderators.
**These include 13 Elder Moderators (7 of whom are also Leaderboard Moderators), 21 regular Moderators (1 of whom is also a Leaderboard Moderator), and 18 additional Leaderboard Moderators.
*A total of 237 players previously held a Moderator position but have since been demoted.
*Usually, many Moderators are promoted at the same time, in what is known as a 'Mod wave'.
*Most former Moderators were demoted either due to being inactive or voluntarily resigning. However, some Moderators were demoted for other reasons, such as leaking private Moderator discussions, cheating stats, or breaking other Moderator guidelines.
*Moderator comments were not highlighted until a server-side update on 17 September 2020.
*Before Update 2.1, the Mod Suggestion button was located beneath the Rate button and appeared identical to it.
*All levels sent to RobTop by moderators can be found in the Sent tab when clicking the search button in the online section.

Moderator longevity
*The longest-lasting current Moderator is SirHadoken, who has been a Moderator since 21 May 2017. Ryder was originally promoted before SirHadoken, but he has not held the position continuously.
**The longest-lasting Moderator in the game's history is Viprin, who was a Moderator for approximately 11 years and 8 months, from August 2014 to 11 April 2026.
**The longest-lasting current Moderator who has never been an Elder Moderator is rafer, who has been a Moderator since 10 April 2018. <!--The longest-lasting in the game's history appears to be either Nico99 or BoyoftheCones, but unfortunately I am unsure of the exact dates they were promoted-->
*The longest-lasting current Elder Moderator is SirHadoken, who has been an Elder Moderator ever since their introduction on 12 November 2017.
**This also makes SirHadoken the longest-lasting Elder Moderator in the game's history.
*The longest-lasting current Leaderboard Moderator is Cool, who has been a Leaderboard Moderator since mid-2021. AutoNick was originally promoted before Cool, but he has not held the position continuously.
**This also makes Cool the longest-lasting Leaderboard Moderator in the game's history. <!--Unsure if he has surpassed Viprin yet, but if not, he will soon-->
*The shortest-lasting Moderator in the game's history is epiphani (EpiEpz), who was a Moderator for a very brief period in mid-2017. <!--Don't know exact dates-->
**This was later beaten by spark, who was a Moderator for only four days from 25 to 29 August 2021. However, spark was later promoted to Moderator a second time on 08 March 2024 and is no longer the shortest-lasting Moderator.
*The shortest-lasting Elder Moderator in the game's history is Balloons, who was an Elder Moderator for 154 days from 31 May to 1 November 2021.
*The shortest-lasting Leaderboard Moderator in the game's history is SurtGD, who was a Leaderboard Moderator for 26 days from 14 January to 9 February 2024.
*There have been several instances where Moderators were demoted from their positions for an exceptionally short amount of time:
**Berkoo was demoted from Elder Moderator on 22 September 2019 before being re-promoted the same day, less than three hours later. This remains the shortest demotion in the game's history.
**KeiAs and MrLorenzo were demoted from Moderator on 27 February 2020 before being re-promoted the very next day on 28 February.
**FillipsMen was demoted from Elder Moderator on 02 March 2022 before being re-promoted only five days later on 07 March.
**Juniper was demoted from Moderator on 14 June 2026 before being re-promoted only four days later on 18 June.
