Moderators are Geometry Dash players whose accounts have been granted special tools for monitoring and moderating player activity, introduced in Update 2.0.

Description

A player can receive one or more of the three moderator statuses at the game's developer's discretion. As of Update 2.11, moderators are distinguished by an M badge appearing next to their username on profile pages and comments, except for leaderboard moderators. Notably, leaderboard moderator and moderator are not mutually exclusive and can be held simultaneously.

  • Leaderboard Moderators monitor global and level-specific leaderboards to prevent illegitimate submissions, including managing player whitelisting for the global Top 1,000. They also have higher priority when suggesting Demon difficulty ratings. The role was first assigned in Update 2.11 and formally included in Update 2.2.
  • Moderators can suggest levels to RobTop for a rating. They also have higher priority when suggesting Demon difficulty ratings. Moderator comments appear highlighted in light green (#C8FFC8).
  • Elder Moderators hold all Moderator abilities, plus the ability to delete comments, issue temporary comment bans, remove unrated user levels from the server, and whitelist scouted Newgrounds artists. Comments appear highlighted in dark green (#4BFF4B).
  • Developer holds all moderator abilities. Comments appear highlighted in cyan (#32FFFF), though the elder moderator badge remains visible.

Trivia

  • Moderators did not have highlighted comments until a server-side update on 17 September 2020.
  • Prior to Update 2.1, the Mod Suggestion button was located beneath the Rate button and looked identical.
