| Practice Mode is a feature of Geometry Dash, Geometry Dash Lite, Geometry Dash Meltdown, Geometry Dash World and Geometry Dash SubZero. It allows checkpoints to be set at will, with the last one placed where the icon will respawn in the event of a crash, instead of having to restart from the beginning of the level. A checkpoint is marked by a green gem ().

| ==Description== | | ==Sound Effects== |
| Practice mode is enabled using the green gem button in the pause menu. By default, checkpoints are generated automatically at intervals, though Auto-Checkpoints can be turned off in the pause menu. The last checkpoint placed can also be removed if inconvenient, to then proceed from the previous checkpoint, and can be repeated as many times as required. For the cube, ball, robot, and spider game-modes, checkpoints are automatically generated when the player connects to a safe surface after a series of movements. In contrast, for the ship, UFO, and wave game-modes, checkpoints are generated at a set distance behind the icon. Practice mode can be further configured through Settings.
| |
| *On a mobile device, buttons will appear that can be tapped to place and remove checkpoints.
| |
| *On Steam, pressing the 'Z' key will place a checkpoint, while pressing the 'X' key will remove it.
| |
| Progress on practice mode is recorded separately from that of normal mode and does not offer the standard level rewards. Moreover, secret coins and user coins within levels will be passed through and treated as decorations. However, other achievements will unlock as usual.

| Enabling practice mode will normally change the soundtrack to an edited version of Stay Inside Me by OcularNebula and will continuously loop, even during a crash and respawn. It can be changed to any saved song with the purchase of the Music Customizer from the Mechanic. Additionally, the Music Unlocker can be bought from the Diamond Shop, leaving the level's audio unchanged when enabled.
| | Whenever one enters practice mode, the default music will stop and the song Stay Inside Me by OcularNebula will start playing. Even though the song is an official Geometry Dash soundtrack, it is not available to use in the Level Editor. This is the only song in the game that will loop after ending. After completion of a level in Practice mode, the song will keep playing and looping. |

| Checkpoints in platformer mode function via static checkpoints that exist as objects. Touching a checkpoint will activate it, indicated by a lightning effect, and, if the icon crashes, it will be returned here. Note that, by default, checkpoints can only be activated once and cannot be reactivated after a new checkpoint is reached. An option to make checkpoints multi-activate is available.

| ==Trivia==
| | In Practice mode Decals Will not dance to the Beat since The music is Very Low Pitched. |
| *While practice mode is enabled, objects which normally pulsate to the beat will not do so.
| |
| *Cycles, xStep, and Clubstep are the only levels which reward icons when completed in practice mode.
| |
| *When the game was first released, user levels could be verified and published by completing the level in practice mode. This feature was removed in the minor Update 1.02, but a bug still allowed levels to be verified this way until Update 1.22.
| |
| *When Update 2.2 was initially released, practice mode was not enabled for platformer levels. It was eventually added in Update 2.201 on Steam and in Update 2.205 for mobile devices.
