Robert Topala is a Swedish video game producer, animator, programmer, and music creator. He is the founder of RobTop Games and has created several hit mobile games such as Geometry Dash, Geometry Dash Lite, Boomlings, Boomlings MatchUp and Memory MasterMind. Topala solely develops mobile games.

Biography

Topala began taking interest in creating video games because of his natural fondness to design, art, and programming. In an interview with Frederik Schrader and PlayAndroid.com, he said that "There is also something intriguing about being able to create something on your own from scratch. This is especially applicable to smaller games where you can work solo or in a very small team."

In 2012, Topala created his first game, now known as Boomlings. He developed it for the IOS using the Cocos2d-iPhone framework. The game gained popularity fast on mobile devices, and Topala continued to work in the mobile game developing industry by releasing Forlorn. Both games were nominated for "Best Mobile Game" in that year's edition of the Swedish Game Awards. Topala won the award with Forlorn and received two Samsung Galaxy S3 phones from ARM, the event's sponsor, as a reward. He later introduced the games to the Android devices.

Later in August 2013, he began working on a new game called Geometry Dash. The game climbed to the top of the charts in popularity and gained massive amounts of downloads around the world because of "word of mouth." In 2014, Geometry Dash was downloaded more than 20 million times in both the full and lite versions. He said that he developed the game on his MacBook Pro, then took it's addictive nature to the App Store. It became the top paid iPhone and iPad application for the month of June 2014 in Canada, topping the "Minecraft: Pocket Edition" and "A Dark Room."
