Shuriken is an 2.1 Insane level by Ferdefunky, published on 24 March 2018. It is second level of the Death Gauntlet.

Description

  • 0-12: Shuriken begins with a normal speed cube section consisting of mostly yellow, blue, and green orbs, with some regular jumps there as well. At 7%, if the yellow orb is hit late, it will lead to being upside down where the level is normally regular, leading to a bit of creative platforming. Then, if the first blue orb at 10% is hit late, the sword is collected and the level goes on as normal for a while.
  • 12-21: The level then thrusts itself to a quadruple speed transition that then goes to double speed, and then to a ship section.
  • 21-59: This is the main drop of the level. During these sections, the speed is double to triple normal and there are erratic gamemode switches, orbs, pads, gravity switches, etc. For the gamemodes, the drop starts with ship, then to cube, then UFO, then a mini-cube, then back to UFO, then back to cube, then to ball, then back to mini-cube, then to spider.
  • 60-85: After the spider, you go to a transitional half-speed cube with no gameplay. You then transition into a double-speed ship and the boss (pictured in image as they are about to attack) arrives. If you collected the sword in the first cube section, it will now show up. The boss starts their attacks by charging at the player while saws fly in. Then, the boss throws a saw. Normally the saw would kill the player, but if the sword was obtained, the saw bounces back at the boss, which loosens their grip on the coin enough to let you collect it. After that the boss shoots a laser, disintegrating the sword. The boss then raises the ceiling and floor, and then charges up an attack that is avoidable unless the toggle orb that says "Hide!" is pressed. The boss promptly goes away.
  • 85-100: Finally, after the ship, there is a double-speed wave section. There are some speed changes and D blocks in this part. After the wave, there is a double-speed spider mostly centered around orbs and ending in a dash orb which goes to the final part of the level, a double-speed ship part which quickly stops. Then, the whole screen turns to black, and the level ends.

Trivia

  • Despite Shuriken's placement as the second level in the Death Gauntlet, the community's overall opinion is that it is easier than the first level of the Gauntlet, Ghoul.
