The Geometry Dash Awards is an annual Geometry Dash-related award show hosted by Viprin and promoted by the widespread Geometry Dash community, including RobTop. Nominees are chosen by some high-class community members and then are voted on by everyone in the Geometry Dash community. The event is split into two parts: a nominees video and a results video a few weeks after, both premiered on YouTube and Twitch. The award show is sometimes accompanied by a bonus component, such as an animation (2.1 Awards) or an augmented reality game (2.0 and 2.1 Awards). The nominees are premiered around mid-December and the results are premiered around the first week of January.

Awards are given to levels, players, creators, songs, and song artists that have made an impact on the community that year. The award show each year normally has around 18 to 20 categories, with around 4-6 nominees for each. Each category has requirements that a level/creator etc. must pass in order to be eligible for an award. The nominees chosen are generally based on popularity, which the award show has been criticized for, as community members have stated that unknown levels/creators have gotten completely ignored despite qualifying. Some nominees have also been generally disliked by the community.

The Geometry Dash Awards was originally about levels/creators etc. during a Geometry Dash update's lifespan, however, it was restructured and changed to an annual event as Update 2.2 was taking longer than expected. Viprin plans to continue the annual format instead of the update-based one.

Structure

The Geometry Dash Awards is structured similar to typical award ceremonies. Each category is debut before its nominees are shown, with a short video for showcase purposes. The audience is prompted to vote on a Google Form at the end of the video. The results video is structured similarly, but only the winner gets a showcase. There can only be one winner per category, but a nominee can win in more than one category. Categories are different every year and are for the different parts of the Geometry Dash community.

Level categories

Most categories in the award show go to significant levels released in the update/year. These include the following returning categories:

  • Best Auto Level
  • Best XL Level
  • Best Demon Megacollab
  • Best Extreme Demon
  • Best Modern Level
  • Best Effect Level
  • Best Art Level
  • Best Design Level
  • Best Minigame
  • Best Bossfight

Player categories

Many categories in the award show go to players that have made an impact in the update/year. These include the following returning categories:

  • Best Streamer
  • Best YouTuber
  • Best Modern Creator
  • Best Effect Creator
  • Best Art Creator
  • Best Design Creator
  • Best Player

Song categories

Despite not being exclusive to Geometry Dash, songs and song artists that have been used in the update/year are eligible for two categories in the award show.

  • Best Song
  • Best Artist

Discontinued categories

The following categories were part of award shows in the past, but no longer appear for a variety of different reasons. They may be brought back in future awards, which then they will be removed from the list.

  • Best Temple Level: Appeared only in the 2.0 Awards and was given to the best level themed around Michigun's Temple series.
  • Best Themed Level: The award was given to the best level with a discernable theme. Was removed after the restructuring of the awards.
  • Best Game Recreation and Best Original Game: The award was given to the best level that recreated an existing game and created an original game, respectively. Was merged together to make Best Minigame.
  • Best Level Series: The award was given to the best level series that was a minimum of three levels long. Most likely removed as it didn't make sense for the yearly-based award shows.
  • Best Non-Demon Megacollab: The award was given to the best mega-collaboration that was not rated Demon. Removed for unknown reasons.
  • Best 2.1 Recreation: Appeared only in the 2.0 Awards and was given to the best level that recreated then-upcoming 2.1 features.
  • Best Gauntlet Level: Appeared only in the 2.1 Awards and was given to the best level in a gauntlet released in 2.1.
  • Best Content Creator: The award was given to the best player that made content around Geometry Dash. Was split into Best Streamer and Best YouTuber after community feedback.
