Trek is a 2.1/2.2 Medium Demon level by OliSW. The level features a nature theme, set in a rainforest, and is known for its gimmick of turning into a ship whenever underwater. It is the second level of the Water Gauntlet.

Description

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-9%: Trek begins with the player traversing through a rainforest during the day. This section is a normal-sized cube, with multiple platforms and orbs, flies scattered through the air, and many layers of trees in the background.
  • 9-19%: This section is similar to the previous, except the player transforms into a mini-robot and contains slightly tighter jumps. The foreground details, such as the leaves or vines, start to move lower into the player's view.
  • 19-28%: During this section, the player becomes a half-speed mini-cube and reaches a much more open area where the sky is much more visible. The jumps during this segment are synced with the song, as the platforms pulse to a brighter colour in time with the music. It is also the first instance of water in the level, and once the player enters the water after hitting a black orb, they become the ship to 'swim'. There are fish that jump out of the water to act as a tutorial on how to exit the water. Towards the end of this section, the player continues to dive deeper into the water rather than jumping out like before.
  • 28-38%: During this underwater section, the player then becomes a normal-sized ship at triple speed and must dodge the terrain, glowing algae, and sawblades. At the end of this segment, there are two chains of green orbs synced to the music, and the player must hold afterwards to exit the water.
  • 38-47%: Once leaving the water, the gameplay is a normal-speed mini-cube, and it then splits into two paths. The bottom route features many bodies of water for the player to cross, as well as multiple buildings and hills to traverse. The top route has the player jump over the aforementioned buildings and a giant water wheel. Eventually, the two paths reconnect, and it is possible to switch between them during the segment.
  • 47-56%: This section is a double-speed mini-robot, where there are multiple black orbs chained into water wheels. During this part, the level gradually turns to nighttime.
  • 56-66%: The player then becomes a half-speed mini-cube once again, and jumps both in and out of the water similar to 19-28%. The aesthetic during this section is much darker, including fireflies and raindrops, foreshadowing the upcoming rainstorm in the next part. The player uses a pink dash orb to ascend to the sky.
  • 66-76%: After reaching the top of the rainforest, the gameplay consists of a quadruple-speed robot section containing many small jumps and orbs. The rainstorm has also grown in size, as the lightning pulses the sky to the music.
  • 76-85%: The player then falls out of the trees and onto multiple rocks in the ocean, where the gameplay is very sloped. In the background, the moon reflects off the water.
  • 85-93%: In this final section, the tight jumps and platforms return one last time as the gameplay slows down, and speeds up again to the music. In the final jump, the speed slows yet again as the player approaches a campfire.
  • 93-100%: After arriving at the fire, the level's title appears at the bottom of the screen, as the letters flicker. The end screen shows OliSW's logo in the bottom-left corner.

User coins

[edit | edit source]
  • There is only one user coin, located in the robot section at 49%. It requires precisely jumping from a water well platform that spins as late as possible to reach a higher wooden platform to obtain the coin.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Trek was initially rated as an Easy Demon before its inclusion in the Water Gauntlet. Upon the gauntlet's release, it was promoted to a Medium Demon and has remained since.
  • Following its inclusion in the Water Gauntlet, as well as the release of Update 2.2, multiple sections were updated to include 2.2 features.
    • The ship section at 26% is now in free mode, meaning that the default ceiling and ground are absent.
    • The robot section at 66% has the camera slightly shifted to the right to make upcoming gameplay more visible.
