The level features almost seven minutes of extremely fast and challenging gameplay, set to a similarly very fast and dramatic symphonic metal song, with very few breaks for its length. It features a gargantuan roster of creators, featuring over 100 creators and playtesters, with it comprising 54 parts. The level was initially set to be verified by OneAlphaHelix, who dropped the level citing obstructive physics changes caused by Update 2.2; the verification was then passed onto the then-unknown player Cuatrocientos, who would eventually pull through with the verification after over 20 months of playing the level. Flamewall has received high praise in the community for its high-quality visuals, consistent design and flowy gameplay. Flamewall was placed at #3 on the Demonlist on 24 October 2025; it would be swapped with Amethyst roughly two months later on 19 December 2025, contemporarily making it the second-hardest level in the game behind Thinking Space II, although this change was reversed eight months later on 23 August 2026. ==General== Flamewall is regarded as a 'flow' level, as it switches between game-modes very rapidly throughout. The base gameplay is not particularly difficult, which is relatively unique for a Top 1; the main challenge lies in the level's length and the need for nerve control. OneAlphaHelix has stated that most of the gameplay is roughly Main List difficulty, though certainly easier than any Top 10 level at the time. The colour scheme of Flamewall is generally orange (following the fire theme), with a few sections changing to primarily white and gray to match the song's intensity. The decoration is notable for maintaining a 1.9 aesthetic, but it has been criticized for lacking depth in certain sections. It is likely a result of object limitations, as it was completed in Update 2.1. Numerous people have asked questions about a potential 2.2 redecoration, but it did not take place, especially as the level was nearing verification. Flamewall is also known for having an exceptionally high number of clicks; OneAlphaHelix has stated that the level requires over 1,250 clicks in a single run. It is more click-intensive in certain parts, but the overall number remains roughly balanced over its duration. ==History== ===Origin=== Narwall and RicoLP started Flamewall on 27 December 2022, with the layout being finished and decoration being started on 10/18 January 2023, respectively. Flamewall was hosted the same way its predecessor, Sinister Silence, was: the collaboration's Discord server was open to the public, and creators could submit an application to join the level and decorate a part of it. This initiative, alongside RicoLP's infamously short progress deadlines, would keep the level surprisingly active, leading to the level being 50% complete on 12 February 2023, just short of a month since the server was made public. ===Controversy=== On 19 January 2023, creator AnonIIExt made a Twitter post calling RicoLP out for making rude comments about their decoration application, sparking some controversy with the level, with many community members beginning to come forward with stories about RicoLP harassing them for 'not making good enough parts' in his previous mega-collaboration, Sinister Silence. RicoLP publicly apologized for his behaviour with both Flamewall and his previous collaborations, but people remained sceptical. Not wanting his involvement to ruin the level's reputation, RicoLP decided to step down as the co-host of Flamewall a month later on 19 February 2023. On the same day, co-hosting duties were transferred to valentine (who optimized and polished most of the level), with Surjaco and Skub (who helped finish dropped parts and merged most of the level, respectively) later being promoted on 22 July 2023. Skub would later leave the level entirely and delete their accounts due to an unrelated controversy regarding misconduct, leaving Narwall, valentine, and Surjaco as the level's final hosts. ===Decoration=== Due to the deadline crunch, many decorators rushed their parts to meet RicoLP's standards, resulting in a mixed reception on the preview uploaded when the level was half-complete. Following RicoLP's departure from the team and valentine subsequently being promoted in his place, the level's direction shifted to focus more on quality than quantity; creators were allowed to take more time with their parts, more creators were directly invited to the level alongside the creators that joined through applying, creators were encouraged to post progress to recieve feedback actively, older parts were upgraded either by their original creators or newer people in the collaboration who did not have a chance to get a full part of their own, and every part was posted publicly as soon as they were completed. Of the 54 parts, 35 were completed by the end of February, but by June, only 48 were done. The final two parts of the level to be finished, Zafkiel7's and DubbyBall's, were finished almost a month apart. Flamewall was finished on 15 September 2023 (262 days after it was started), with the final showcase being uploaded the day after to a generally positive reception. ===Song=== The day Flamewall was showcased, song artist Camellia quoted a showcase of the level on Twitter with 'HOLY HELL THIS IS A FIRE MAP', leading to OneAlphaHelix asking him to upload the song to Newgrounds for use in the game. Camellia had not uploaded any music to Newgrounds in years because his account was flagged as an impersonator every time he tried. However, he mentioned being interested in contacting RobTop to upload the song to his servers so it could be used without needing to be uploaded to Newgrounds. This interaction likely directly caused the creation of the Music Library, with Camellia being the first artist added to the game several months later and Flamewall subsequently being usable in-game. ===Verification=== The verification of Flamewall was initially given to OneAlphaHelix, who achieved 60% (62% using 2.2 percentages) on the level. However, partially due to the physics changes in Update 2.2, he lost motivation and dropped the level on 19 January 2024. Following this, Cuatrocientos took over the verification of Flamewall. At the time, Cuatrocientos's hardest completed level (according to modern placements) was Solar Flare, which was then ranked #20 on the Demonlist, which made verifying the level a significant jump for him. Despite this, Cuatrocientos made rapid progress on the level, unexpectedly achieving a fluked run of 3-86% on 10 September 2024 and later a run of 24-100% on 19 August 2025. On 31 August 2025, he experienced a devastating fail at 99% on the level, which is generally considered one of the worst fails in Geometry Dash history, even drawing attention from song artist Camellia; this feat was also achieved practically right after he failed at 50%. He would fail at 99% again a week later on 6 September 2025. On 21 September 2025, after what was essentially a 73% fail in the previous attempt, Cuatrocientos finally verified Flamewall after 221,703 attempts, two deaths at 99%, and 220 streams. The level was then uploaded on Narwall's account and rated Epic soon after on the 24th. After initially being placed at #3 on the Demonlist on 24 October 2025, it was later swapped with Amethyst on 19 December, making it the second-hardest-rated level in the game, behind Thinking Space II. ==Description== *0-1% (Narwall + valentine): Flamewall begins with a ship that the player needs to hold to go into a cube portal without clicking on fake black orbs. This ship leads to a cube part with flashy pulses, frame-perfect timings and clusters of orbs that require fast clicking, ending with a dash orb and a Clubstep monster. *1-2% (theworldofme + MJZpeanut + AFM): Then, a UFO with similar gameplay, an extremely tight wave that the player needs to hold to turn into an upside-down cube with more orb timings, and a short mini-ball. The speed increases to triple, indicating that the intensity builds up and reaches the drop. A short ship and a cube dash orb follow, which the player must hold as it dashes up like an ascending piano, during which 'Flamewall' displays with an accompanying heavy shake. *2-3% (hexeract + Surjaco): The cube is still holding a dash portal before turning into a wave, then into a small ship with gravity-changing portals, and speed changing to the beat. At 2.74%, the player transforms into a cube, assisted by quadruple speed with fast, precise yellow and dark orbs, which then turns into a ship, leading to the next section. *3-5% (teraaa + insxne + Dilw0nk): *5-7% (Bluestone + DubbyBall): A quadruple-speed rapid game-mode changes with all mechanics and is extremely difficult in terms of tight timings, fast-paced gameplay and many obstacles. *7-8% (ked + GiaMmiX): More fast-paced, tight gameplay and rapid game-mode changes, considering many parts resemble a Top 1 difficulty. A cube with orbs scattered and clicking to the drum beats with timings and fake blocks, and ends with an auto wave. *8-10% (Dola + moonlightmari): A quadruple-speed segment with clicks mathematically syncing to the beat with rapid game-mode changes and many mechanics. *10-12% (Finley + IntriZ + Kacurro + HumbJumb): A quadruple-speed rapid game-mode changing sequence involving green and black orb timings and ending with a tight ship with fake orbs and a straight-fly. *12-14% (Waturn + Cinny + Kacurro): *14-15% (RpgRaketti + Narwall + MrZen): *15-18% (iliLaserili + Striked): *18-19% (Intensa + X2K + Surjaco): *19-21% (TheZinkYT + Cinny + asomii): *21-22% (Detrezo + PiksC): A double-speed difficult cube with many mechanics, a short ball and spider clicking to a piano beat, back to a cube, then a short ball and spider again. *22-24% (Zenn + Narwall + Xolarzz): A short quadruple-speed difficult cube, a double-speed tight ship, increasing to triple speed, back to a short quadruple-speed cube, a wave with many obstacles and size changes, a mini-cube with extreme orb timings and a dash orb, building up intensity and increasing speed with a descending piano. *24-26% (Zeroxy + Limit2 + Surjaco): *26-28% (vaen + FreddyDash): *28-30% (Technical + Unerve + Solarion): *30-33% (Eridani + Wolvyy + Surjaco): A quadruple-speed gameplay with rapid game-mode changes and clicks syncing to the beats, and tight timings adds a lot to the difficulty. *33-34% (Temp + valentine): *34-36% (Radical + PLoLek): A UFO with tight corridors and gravity changes and a tight ship with similar gameplay. *36-38% (nicor77 + GamerKnight750): Slow-speed changes throughout the part. The short flow section ends with a quick dual section in sync with a few beats in the song. It culminates in a climactic ship part that takes only a few clicks and serves as a stress test. The screen borders shrink on the player, who must complete a tight straight-fly; passing it will complete the level. ==Gameplay== eYrPxFiCEkA ==First 10 victors== {| class="wikitable" !Victor # !Player !Date Completed !Total Attempts !Furthest Fail !Video |- |Verifier |Cuatrocientos |21 September 2025 |221,703 |99% x2 |YouTube |- |1 |Zoink |4 December 2025 |11,745 |99% |YouTube |- |2 |zLevii |14 February 2026 |26,385 |93% x2 |YouTube |- |3 |w3rty |5 July 2026 |15,000+ |92% |YouTube |- |4 |Trick |18 September 2026 |8,000+ |98% |YouTube |} ==Trivia== *Flamewall uses two songs and three sound effects (SFXs). *Flamewall was rated on 24 September 2025, receiving an Epic rating, and placed at #3 on the Demonlist on 24 October 2025, above Tidal Wave and below Amethyst. **This addition pushed Avernus out of the Top 10, KOSETSU out of the Top 25, Checked Steam into the Extended List for the third time, and Omega Interface into the Legacy List. **On 19 December 2025, Flamewall would be swapped with Amethyst, placing it at #2, only below Thinking Space II. ***On 23 August 2026, Flamewall and Amethyst swapped once again, putting it below Amethyst once again. *Flamewall is: **The second-hardest Epic-rated level in the game, behind GRIEF. **The fourth-longest level on the Demonlist, behind Every End, Master of Puppets, and Sinister Silence. **The hardest level to use the entirety of its song. The previous hardest in this category was Tidal Wave. **The hardest level to use a song from the music library. It also used to be the hardest level to use a NONG song before Camellia's songs, including Flamewall's song of the same name, were added to said library. *Flamewall was nominated for and won Best Extreme Classic in the Geometry Dash 2025 Awards. Interestingly, Flamewall was finished in 2023 and was the only non-Legendary/Mythic level in the category. **Flamewall received 65.8% of the community votes for its category, the highest out of any nomination across every level category. Despite this, it received only 14.1% of the jury vote, the fourth-lowest in the category. *When Update 2.2 was released, Flamewall became impossible due to slope bugs. *Cuatrocientos's hardest completed level before verifying Flamewall was Belladonna, making Flamewall one of the largest verification jumps ever performed. Because of this feat, the Demonlist has shown reluctance to consider his opinions on the level's difficulty and the community. **Other players, such as Servax and Kurumi, offered up their own opinions on Flamewall's difficulty. However, they are not considered reliable because Flamewall's challenge stems primarily from length. *There is a small text near the bottom right of the screen when entering Flamewall, saying 'Hey chat type flamewall'. *Most of the Clubstep monsters in Flamewall have names. For example, the one in the first part is named 'Ellie', and the iconic one in most Flamewall thumbnails (including this wiki page's) is named 'URANIUM-235 JR'. *Flamewall previously featured a 'CBF buffer' that slightly buffed the level's gameplay to compensate for its difficulty when playing with the Click Between Frames (CBF) mod. After RobTop implemented his own version of CBF into the vanilla game, that buffer was later removed. *Flamewall took 262 days (nearly 10 months) to build, starting on 27 December 2022 and wrapping up on 15 September 2023. *The Discord server that Flamewall was hosted in was completely public throughout the hosting process, allowing the community to see parts as soon as they were finished. **Flamewall was also publicly hosted, allowing decorators to join the server and apply for parts without being directly invited. As a result, Flamewall's roster is full of recognizable community figures, as well as many smaller creators who had not had the chance to be in larger projects. **The server is currently being used to allow players to post their progress on Flamewall and remains open to the public to this day. *Flamewall has an upcoming 'antagonist' level being hosted by Narwall called Snowdrive, which has unfortunately mostly waned due to changes in hosting and Narwall becoming inactive. *While Flamewall's 413,736 objects may seem massive at a glance, the level runs surprisingly well for its size because the actual object count per second of the level is only around 1,019. **As a reference point, Slaughterhouse has roughly 2,104 objects per second, over twice the object density. **If LDM is used, Flamewall's object count drops to a mere 28,434 objects, 7% of the original size, with an average of 70 objects per second. *Flamewall notably does not use many move triggers. Initially, this decision was a stylistic choice by RicoLP to keep the level simpler; however, it was later kept despite the level becoming more complex due to move triggers significantly impacting level lag. *There is an upcoming sister level to Fallen Symphony called Rebirth The End. It has several similarities to Flamewall, such as its general gameplay, rapid game-mode changes, metal song, host, and fire theme. If verified and rated, it would be the longest level on the Demonlist. *Flamewall's first victor, Zoink, used his stream highlights of this level as his contribution to EricVanWilderman's 12 Demons of Christmas 2025 series, as Demon #6. *Flamewall is notorious for its '99% curse', as both Cuatrocientos and Zoink have failed at 99% while attempting to complete the level. *Getting to a mere 1% on Flamewall (with 2.2 percentages) requires roughly 24 inputs in total. *Flamewall is Netermind's favourite level in the Top 10 of the Demonlist. ==Videos== ==References== <references />
