'''Maniacal Chains''' is a [[Update 2.0|2.0]]/[[Update 2.1|2.1]] Extreme Demon level by LordDivinity, published by him on 16 September 2018. It is a formerly impossible level, and one of the oldest Extreme Demons ever placed on the [[Demonlist (Pointercrate)|Demonlist]].

Maniacal Chains' first preview released in Update 2.0. It was then finished in 2018 in Update 2.1. It returned to the public eye when [[Icedcave]] uploaded a showcase to his channel.<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrbG4Go8SWY</ref> 43% obtained by Watchpiggy 2 was the record on the level for over 3 years.

After its verification by spcreat on 9 April 2026,<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzeMJeIu6bY</ref> Maniacal Chains was rated on 21 May 2026 and was placed at #30 on the Demonlist on 21 June 2026.

==History==
Maniacal Chains is a very old impossible level by ‪LordDivinity, a project that started back in 2.0. spcreat's first exposure to the level was in 2021, when [[Icedcave]] made showcase of it, reviving it in the public eye.<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrbG4Go8SWY</ref> Looking at how old Maniacal Chains is, spcreat wanted to keep it as faithful as possible to the original version, so he didn't do any nerfs, buffs, or balancing. Unfortunately, there were a couple bugs that made the level physically impossible to beat once [[Update 2.2|2.2]] released, so spcreat changed those, but in a way that, he thinks, Maniacal Chains kept the exact same difficulty as the initial [[Update 2.1|2.1]] release version. spcreat documented all his changes:

*43%: This ball section turned impossible in 2.2, as the player couldn't stick to the ceilings after clicking orbs, so he made it force the player to be upside-down if they are holding when they touch the top.
*91%: This dual ball part has a slope that instantly kills the player in 2.2, so he removed the slope's hitbox.
*96%: The robot slope jumps in this section, similar to these have turned impossible in 2.2, so he added an invisible red pad to increase player's jump height off the slopes. However, it still require the player to do a late click off the slope. However, spcreat is almost certain it doesn't change the difficulty.
