Geometry Dash is a mobile game developed by Robert Topala and released in August 2013. The objective of the game is to navigate a small cube through a series of obstacles to reach the end of a level. The only control is tapping, which makes the cube perform a small jump. As well as a cube, the player can also control a ship, a ball and a UFO. A Lite Version of the game is also available with fewer features.

Geometry Dash is a horizontal runner-style casual/arcade game developed and published by RobTop Games. It was released for $1.99 USD (now $2.99 USD) on 13 August 2013 for Android and iOS, and for $3.99 USD (now $4.99 USD) on 22 December 2014 for Steam. On mobile devices, a lite version of the game is available, along with free expansions, Geometry Dash Meltdown, Geometry Dash World and Geometry Dash SubZero, which include exclusive levels.

The player takes the form of different entities with unique mechanics, such as a cube, a ball, and a UFO. Using primarily one-touch gameplay, the player must try to navigate through a series of interactive obstacles, movement-shifting transporters and behaviour-manipulating portals to reach the end of levels without crashing, all while listening to exciting music along the way.

<tabber>
There are currently sixteen official levels in Geometry Dash. Each level is playable in either Normal Mode, where the level must be completed to the end without dying to complete it, or Practice Mode, which offers the option to place checkpoints midway. Completing Normal Mode rewards stars, and also Secret Coins if the player manages to collect the three hidden in each level.

Trivia
Trivia
*The original planned name for Geometry Dash through to its beta phase was Geometry Jump. According to the developer, it was changed to Geometry Dash because it 'sounded better', although he also said 'Apple said I wasnt allowed to have Geometry Jump, and here we are'.
*The Geometry Dash Menu Theme was produced by the developer, Robert Topala, accessible from his Newgrounds profile RobTop.
*A level named Active (music by DJVI) was seemingly planned for after Update 1.4, where the incomplete level was present in the game's code. It would have been an Insane difficulty level, rewarding 12 stars. It was still present after Update 1.5, being updated to reward 13 stars. The level and its references were removed from the game's code in subsequent versions.
*On the main menu, normal or mini icons of any customised combination will travel past randomly. They can be selected, which destroys them.
**The unique mini designs for the cube and ball can appear at their normal sizes.
**The icons exclusive to the Steam version of the game can appear in other versions.
*All main non-platformer levels begin with a regular cube sequence.
*Geometry Dash shares similar elements with The Impossible Game in terms of basic level components and cube gameplay mechanics.
*The mobile versions of Geometry Dash, along with the other games in the series, used to have Everyplay integration—introduced in Update 1.11—which was a service that enabled live recording of gameplay which could then be uploaded to the Everyplay video-sharing platform. The service was discontinued on 1 October 2018, with the button to access the defunct service remaining in-game until Update 2.2, which released years later.
*The developer used to have their own Everyplay account where they uploaded gameplay.

GeometryDash.png

Trivia

  • The original planned name for Geometry Dash through to its beta phase was Geometry Jump. According to the developer, it was changed to Geometry Dash because it 'sounded better', although he also said 'Apple said I wasnt allowed to have Geometry Jump, and here we are'.
  • The Geometry Dash Menu Theme was produced by the developer, Robert Topala, accessible from his Newgrounds profile RobTop.
  • A level named Active (music by DJVI) was seemingly planned for after Update 1.4, where the incomplete level was present in the game's code. It would have been an Insane difficulty level, rewarding 12 stars. It was still present after Update 1.5, being updated to reward 13 stars. The level and its references were removed from the game's code in subsequent versions.
  • On the main menu, normal or mini icons of any customised combination will travel past randomly. They can be selected, which destroys them.
    • The unique mini designs for the cube and ball can appear at their normal sizes.
    • The icons exclusive to the Steam version of the game can appear in other versions.
  • All main non-platformer levels begin with a regular cube sequence.
  • Geometry Dash shares similar elements with The Impossible Game in terms of basic level components and cube gameplay mechanics.
  • The mobile versions of Geometry Dash, along with the other games in the series, used to have Everyplay integration—introduced in Update 1.11—which was a service that enabled live recording of gameplay which could then be uploaded to the Everyplay video-sharing platform. The service was discontinued on 1 October 2018, with the button to access the defunct service remaining in-game until Update 2.2, which released years later.
  • The developer used to have their own Everyplay account where they uploaded gameplay.

CCGameManager.dat stores all game data (saved levels, settings, account ID, username, password, etc.), except for data of created levels saved from the level editor, which is stored separately in CCLocalLevels.dat. These files are located as follows (root permission is required to access on Android):

  • Geometry Dash (Windows): %LOCALAPPDATA%\GeometryDash\
  • Geometry Dash (macOS): ~/Library/Application Support/GeometryDash/
