==Description==
==Description==
Space Invaders begins with an intro and normal-speed cube gameplay. The screen is cut into a square as the gameplay is shown inside a 'Gboy Color' console. Afterwards, the screen transitions to a city with double-speed gameplay. The cube then breaks into a building, with a table and a plant inside. Behind that, is another cube just looking at the player, before turning back as the cube exits. It turns into a spider, with somewhat tight gameplay, but not too hard. The player then breaks through glass of another building, as it has mini-cube gameplay.

The scene transitions into a triple-speed robot with the screen zoomed out. The jumps are a bit tight, and the player soon hops on top of a train, where they have to jump over signs and eventually end up in a train station with just a pair of jumps; one of them being over a cube's pointy hat that works as a spike. Afterwards, the robot turns into a ship, with easy gameplay before becoming a cube again.

The song calms down, preparing for the pre-drop as the camera zooms in to a TV playing a news report of a UFO sighting. The player appears in this TV as a mini cube and must avoid obstacles shown in the background. Then, the player becomes a regular sized cube with slow speed as the pre-drop begins. This part features easy gameplay that ends with the player hitting multiple pink orbs that end with a red orb as a red alien spaceship appears in the background.
The song calms as the camera zooms in on a TV playing a news report about a UFO sighting. The player appears on this TV as a mini-cube and must avoid obstacles shown in the background. Then, the player becomes a normal-sized cube at half-speed as the pre-drop begins. This part features easy gameplay that culminates in the player hitting multiple pink orbs, which lead to a red orb, as a red alien spaceship appears in the background.

The level's title appears, and the song hits the drop, starting with triple speed ship gameplay, followed by a mini wave in which the player must avoid red cubes with green wings by going up and down in a pattern. After hitting 2 green orbs as a cube afterwards, the player becomes a wave and must hit a green dash orb first before following a pattern indicated by green dots, which is then followed by a ball then another cube that ends with the player getting launched by a hammer into a short and reversed mini cube section, followed by a spider part as the player enters an elevator in a short break.

The player is then launched into a triple speed UFO section, then a mini UFO section after a very brief green dash orb input as a cube. During the mini UFO, there is a teleportation part in which the player must time their inputs with the circular portals to successfully teleport. A cube with an upwards slope and a single black orb input brings the player to a ship part where they must avoid obstacles emerging from the ground and a green laser, which is followed by a red orb input into a mini size portal, then a cube portal, then back to the ship but at regular size, where a yellow orb input followed by 2 green orb inputs must be made. The ship part ends with obstacles featuring rocks and a submarine levitating off the water due to the red spaceship firing a laser at the water below.

The ship part ends with obstacles, including rocks, and a submarine levitating above the water as the red spaceship fires a laser at the water below.

The drop ends as the screen is cut to show the gameplay inside the Gboy Color once again. This part starts off with a regular speed mini cube then a mini spider followed by a double speed regular size robot with the same teleportation mechanic at the ship part before, along with pipes that transport the player here and there. This is followed by a cube with similar gameplay, then an asymmetrical dual cube that becomes mini after going halfway through the dual, which ends with both mini cubes jumping on platforms as the player must hold until they reach a pipe that both cubes enter.

The following part takes place in "Take A Break" mountain, featuring swing copter gameplay that later begins to feature floating rocks as obstacles. There are also floating trees in this part, but they only act as decoration. After the swing copter ends, a mini cube part follows, featuring a red cube wearing an eyepatch narrating the lyrics of the song. After this is a half speed regular size ship with spikes coming out of portals as obstacles. This ship part eventually speeds up to triple speed as the player enters a cannon and is launched from it into the next drop, where a red alien figure is introduced as 'Final Boss'.

At the second drop, which is a boss fight against the red alien, the player is a wave with upwards gameplay, in which they must release to go left and hold to go right, while the alien uses a variety of attacks to try and destroy the player, such as launching lasers from its eyes, sending demon cubes at the player, or using a gun to fire at them. The same kind of gameplay keeps going after this, only that the boss now uses new attack methods such as launching a building at the player, while still using some of its previous attack methods. During all of this, the alien leaves behind a star trail emitting from its chest to guide the player through the boss fight. Eventually, the player lands inside a building as a cube in what appears to be a meeting with several other cubes, with the same red cube with the eyepatch from earlier narrating the lyrics once again, which is followed by the player getting launched out of the building with the alien boss peaking from outside. The player has to hit 4 yellow orbs followed by a ball then a wave then a mini wave, then a regular size wave again. A very brief auto cube transitions into a robot then a ship that ends with a cube portal and a green dash orb that the player must hit, which is followed by a spider part that becomes mini during it. After another cube and dash orb transition, the player is taken into an upwards auto wave and is knocked by the alien boss using a building to the right of the screen.
At the second drop, which is a boss fight against the red alien, the player faces a wave section with upward gameplay, where they must release to go left and hold to go right. In contrast, the alien uses a variety of attacks to destroy the player, such as firing lasers from its eyes, sending demon cubes at the player, or firing a gun at them. The same kind of gameplay continues after this, only the boss now uses new attack methods, such as launching a building at the player, while still using some of its previous ones. After another cube and dash orb transition, the player is taken into an upward auto wave and is knocked by the alien boss using a building to the right of the screen.

The final part is a cube with fairly easy gameplay as the player lands on the wall of a building and ascends the building by the wall, with the camera angled on the side. The cube then becomes mini as the player transitions into a robot as they break into the building and exit on its other side, with the camera angle changing again. This robot part also has fairly easy gameplay, before the player becomes a cube again as they become an upwards wave once more with the same type of gameplay as the second drop, featuring the alien boss once again, climbing the building as it chases the player. In the end, a cutscene plays in which the player escapes the boss, and the red cube with the eyepatch fires a laser at the alien from a helicopter.

===Shop===
The shop is a unique mechanic in Space Invaders. If the player crashes at any point in the level, they earn points based on where they crashed (later deaths give more points), and this also opens a shop where those points can be spent on cosmetics. The shop can be accessed at the start of the level by falling in a specific section indicated by a sign reading 'Shop' and a hand pointing downwards. The cosmetics include hats, pets, and flags.

The player does not gain points in practice mode. When they crash for the first time in practice mode, the level will notify the player.

The player's points and cosmetics are refreshed whenever they quit the level.

==User coins==
Note: All coins have a start position at the start of the minigame.
Space Invaders contains three user coins. To find them, the player must find three dark maroon portals scattered throughout the level, hinted at by a billboard at 12% with the words, 'Crazy mysterious portals stealing our coins!' implying that the player is getting coins from other cubes. Each portal then leads the player to a short level with a custom song, which rewards one user coin and a portal back to the main level once completed.

There is a start position immediately at the beginning of each short level, and any coins the player obtains are marked as collected until the player either finishes the level (adding any collected coins to the player's total) or quits (resetting all coins to uncollected).

The first coin is located at 12%. The player has to go up to a gap that will lead them to a portal. Space Invaders is a 2.2 Easy Demon level by Subwoofer. It is the 17th Event Level.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Space Invaders begins with an intro and normal-speed cube gameplay. The screen is cut into a square as the gameplay is shown inside a 'Gboy Color' console. Afterwards, the screen transitions to a city with double-speed gameplay. The cube then breaks into a building, with a table and a plant inside. Behind that is another cube just looking at the player, before turning back as the cube exits. It turns into a spider, with somewhat tight gameplay, but not too hard. The player then breaks through the glass of another building, as it has mini-cube gameplay.

The scene transitions into a triple-speed robot with the screen zoomed out. The jumps are a bit tight, and the player soon hops on top of a train, where they have to jump over signs and eventually end up in a train station with just a pair of jumps, one of them being over a cube's pointy hat that works as a spike. Afterwards, the robot turns into a ship, with easy gameplay before becoming a cube again.

The level's title appears, and the song hits the drop, starting with triple-speed ship gameplay, followed by a mini-wave in which the player must avoid red cubes with green wings by going up and down in a pattern. After hitting two green orbs as a cube afterwards, the player becomes a wave and must hit a green dash orb first before following a pattern indicated by green dots, which is then followed by a ball then another cube that ends with the player getting launched by a hammer into a short and reversed mini-cube section, followed by a spider part as the player enters an elevator in a short break.

The player is then launched into a triple-speed UFO section, followed by a mini-UFO section after a very brief green dash orb input as a cube. During the mini-UFO, there is a teleportation section where the player must time their inputs to the circular portals to teleport successfully. A cube with an upward slope and a single black orb input brings the player to a ship part where they must avoid obstacles emerging from the ground and a green laser, followed by a red orb input into a mini-size portal, then a cube portal, then back to the ship but at normal size, where a yellow orb input and two green orb inputs must be made. The ship part ends with obstacles, including rocks, and a submarine levitating above the water as the red spaceship fires a laser at the water below.

The drop ends as the screen is cut to show the gameplay inside the Gboy Color once again. This part starts with a normal-speed mini-cube, then a mini-spider, followed by a double-speed normal-sized robot with the same teleportation mechanic as the ship part before, along with pipes that transport the player here and there. A cube section with similar gameplay follows this. Next is an asymmetrical dual cube that becomes mini after halfway through the dual, which ends with both mini-cubes jumping on platforms, and the player must hold until they reach a pipe that both cubes enter.

The following part takes place in 'Take A Break' mountain, featuring swing copter gameplay that later introduces floating rocks as obstacles. There are also floating trees in this section, but they serve only as decoration. After the swing copter ends, a mini-cube part follows, featuring a red cube wearing an eyepatch narrating the lyrics of the song. Afterwards, there is a half-speed, normal-sized ship with spikes protruding from portals as obstacles. It eventually speeds up to triple speed as the player enters a cannon and is launched into the next drop, where a red alien figure is introduced as the 'Final Boss'.

During all of this, the alien leaves behind a star trail emitting from its chest to guide the player through the boss fight. Eventually, the player lands inside a building as a cube, in what appears to be a meeting with several other cubes, with the same red cube with the eyepatch from earlier narrating the lyrics once again, followed by the player being launched out of the building, with the alien boss peeking out from outside. The player must hit four yellow orbs, then a ball, then a wave, then a mini-wave, then a normal-sized wave again. A very brief auto cube transitions into a robot, then a ship, which ends with a cube portal and a green dash orb that the player must hit, followed by a spider part that becomes mini during it. After another cube and dash orb transition, the player is taken into an upward auto wave and is knocked by the alien boss using a building to the right of the screen.

The final part is a cube with fairly easy gameplay: the player lands on the wall of a building and ascends it, with the camera angled to the side. The cube then becomes mini as the player transitions into a robot, breaking into the building and exiting on the other side, with the camera angle changing again. This robot part also has fairly easy gameplay. Then the player becomes a cube again, becoming an upward wave once more, with the same gameplay as the second drop, featuring the alien boss again, climbing the building as it chases the player. In the end, a cutscene plays in which the player escapes the boss, and the red cube with the eyepatch fires a laser at the alien from a helicopter.

The credits then appear, cutting the screen again to the inside of Gboy Color, with cubes from the level visible in the corners. Subwoofer, the creator of the level, is first credited, followed by the playtesters and others, then a special thanks list, as the screen changes to black, ending the level.

User coins

[edit | edit source]

The player must go up to a gap that leads to a portal.

  • The song is 'Super Ultra' by MDK. It is in the music library.
  • The difficulty of this level can range from an Insane (9 stars) to a Medium Demon.

The second coin is located at 34%. To get there, the player must collect a key at 25% by skipping a gravity portal and not hitting the blue orb. Then, at 34%, the player must make an early input before the gravity portal to go down and reach a portal.

  • The song is 'Press Start (Smooth Jazz Remix)' by MDK. It is in the music library.
  • The difficulty of this level can range from Harder (7 stars) to Insane (9 stars).

The third coin is located at 67%. To get there, the player must fly through a small gap while upside down at 66%. A path will open, giving the player access to the last portal.

  • The song is 'Danger' by Boom Kitty and Teminite. It is on Newgrounds.
  • This is considered the hardest coin to collect.
  • The difficulty of this level can range from an Easy Demon to a Hard Demon.

[edit | edit source]
  • Space Invaders takes 5m 51s to complete, if no coin route is taken and if the player does not access the shop.
    • If all three routes for each of the coins are counted, then the time is brought up to 8m 30s, an extension of 2m 39s.
    • Space Invaders is the longest Event Level regardless of whether the coin routes are counted or not.
  • Space Invaders was nominated for Best Advanced Classic in The Geometry Dash Awards 2025.
  • Space Invaders has the most objects out of all the Event Levels.
  • The Gboy Color console in Space Invaders references Ggb0y. The console itself is a parody of the Nintendo Game Boy Color.
  • The breaking news channel before the first pre-drop is named GDN, a parody of CNN News.
  • The red cube with the eyepatch resembles Vit12's cube.
  • Some cubes featured in Space Invaders are cameos of known players such as spaceuk, to memes such as the Normal difficulty face (Some hard-to-hear lyrics in this song say 'Fire In The Hole', which is more shown in Trianglory's Lyrics Video).
  • The first coin's song, 'Super Ultra' by MDK, is also heard in the Artist Reveal video by RobTop.
  • The second coin route, using the song 'Press Start (Smooth Jazz Remix)' by MDK, is themed around Press Start (the original mix) from Geometry Dash SubZero.
  • The third coin's song, 'Danger' by Teminite and Boom Kitty, was made for the 7th Anniversary of the game Beat Saber.
    • The ID version of this song was first teased in 2022.
  • Space Invaders lasts for the Space Invaders song's full length (when going on the normal route), making it the first rated level with the song to do so.
  • The red alien is one of the many characters featured on the channel banner for Geometry Dash Spotlight.[1]
