Template:Epilepsy Warning Template:Infobox Level Glowy is a 2.0/2.1 Extreme Demon collaboration created by Rob Buck and Galzo, published by Rob Buck, and verified by BoldStep.[1] Its difficulty is mainly achieved through its length, being three minutes long, and the increasingly glowing effects through the level. This level is meant to satirize the extremely heavy use of glow in most levels found around that time; the level also consists of Text Messages scattered around the level; Glowy heavilly increases the glow object count when the player progresses far, so a good recommendation would be to lower the graphics down before playing this level.

The level took around 14 months to verify as it was finished on July 2016 as BH Fusion was the set verifier of the level, but ended up giving it to Boldstep later on, in which he asked Rob Buck for permission to verify the level, to which he was accepted.

Gameplay

Note: the level consists of some memory-based sections; Galzo was the one who made who made the layout, while Rob Buck later decorated it.

  • 0-8%: The level begins with a brief cube section at normal followed by a ball and a robot at double-speed before the drop starts at half-speed; at 1%, a memory based mini-cube was also included.
  • 8-27%: After the pre-drop, the player transitions into a mini-ship with various straight-fly sections, size and gravity changes, and some ceiling hits; however, the player returns into a mini-ship after the auto cube with gravity portals; the next ship segment also conisists of a dual portal other than the straight-fly sections and the size and gravity changes. After a brief auto cube, the player goes into a dual cube section with high-end jumps followed by another auto cube and a ship section with a teleport, and gravity and size changes. After a fast-paced mini-ball, the player enters into a wave transition at triple-speed with gravity changes, a spam section, a non-spam section, and another spam section before the player goes into a curved mini-ship straight-fly.
  • 27-35%: After this, the player transition into a timing-based ball at double-speed before going into the dual mini-ball section being almost similar to Sonic Wave; then, the player proceeds into a timing-based UFO at half-speed being similar to Michigun's UFO section in Bloodbath; at normal speed, the player enters into a wave segment with one gravity change and some spam sections on the wave segment.
  • 35-42%: After the level slows down at half-speed, the player transitions into a memory-based cube followed by a dual combination with a ship and wave; the ship only is an auto due to constant game mode changing in ball and UFO while the wave section only consists of spam and a teleport.
  • 42-52%: The player proceeds into a ship segment at triple speed with gravity changes, yellow orbs in gravity portals, and various straight-fly sections; the ship segment is rather unique due to constant wave spam sections at half-speed to match the song's sync; however, the last ship section is a mini-ship which focuses on manoeuvring before the straight-fly.
  • 52-59%: After the level slows down at half-speed again, the player enters into a timing-based robot followed by a ball section at normal speed before being slowed down again at half-speed.
  • 59-76%: The player then transitions into a ship with some speed and gravity changes; the ship section is mainly a straight-fly section before the player goes into a slow-paced wave at half-speed; after the wave, the player proceeds into a dual ship segment at half speed; this dual section consists of straight-flying and yellow orbs in which the player must miss; after this, the player returns to the wave at normal speed wtih gravity changes followed by a timing-based mini-ufo section at half-speed with some pink-orb sections. The player then transitions into a mini-ship at half-speed with various straight-fly sections, size and gravity changes, yellow orbs in gravity portals, and some platforms in which the player must slide; the player then goes into a fast-paced ball at double-speed followed by a timing-based UFO at triple-speed with gravity changes and an auto section with gravity portals.
  • 76-83%: Next, the player enters into a cube at normal speed followed by a ship section with gravity changes at half-speed, a wave section at normal speed with some gravity changes, and a memory-based dual cube segment at half-speed.
  • 83-92%: The player enters into the following: A dual-mini wave at triple-speed later slowing down to half-speed, a timing-based UFO at triple-speed later slowing down to half-speed again, a straight-fly ship segment with teleports at triple-speed later slowing down to half-speed, a mini-wave section at normal speed, a memory-based mini-ball section at double-speed, a mini-robot at half-speed, a timing-based mini-UFO at double speed, and a mini-ship straight-fly at triple-speed with a lot of keys.
  • 92-100%: Afterwards, the player goes into a cube section at half-speed followed by a ship section with a gravity change; and lastly, the player transitions into a wave segment in which the player goes into a dual wave afterwards; the dual wave only contains some size changes, however. The level ends with a cube with the Rob Buck logo on it.

Trivia

  • The level cannot be copied.
  • The level contains 269,297 objects, meaning that lag is unavoidable on low-end devices.
    • It's also impossible to beat on mobile due to its object count as well.
  • The level is 3m 17s in length.
  • The level was initially placed at #17 on the Geometry Dash Demonlist on 26 September 2017, above Hatred (#18) and below Black Blizzard (#16).
    • This addition pushed Retention into the Legacy List for the first time.
    • This addition also became the hardest rated level with the most objects; this was until it was dethroned by Freedom08 on 18 May 2019.
  • BH Fusion, the previous said verifier of Glowy, eventually dropped it for not wanting "to prolong the verification any longer."
  • Rob Buck stated that this would be his last level ever made until Damascus.[2]
  • Opinions on the gameplay are very diverse, with some like Technical hating it and others like Railblazer claiming it has the best gameplay of any level in Geometry Dash.
  • On 22 August 2024, a Harder 6* level with the same name by AdONAY27GD was made the Daily Level.
