Problematic is a 1.9/2.0 Easy Demon level by Dhafin. The level is a remake of Nine Circles. It is one of the easiest Demon-rated Nine Circles levels and one of the most famous levels due to its unique design and challenging difficulty. The gameplay makes heavy use of size-, speed-, and gravity changes.
Description
- 0-12%: Problematic begins with a simple yet tricky cube sequence, which consists of many spikes that can easily be jumped over.
- 12-24%: Next, the player enters a brief ship sequence considered easier than the previous section, not featuring nearly as many threats. The next cube sequence is semi-auto and far easier than the first, with the last few seconds being auto, serving as a prelude to the level's most distinctive feature: the wave.
- 24-85%: The Nine Circles wave sequence is introduced, and the beat drops. The player must now avoid the walls and the numerous sawblades. Unlike other Nine Circles levels, it features larger spacing, and many segments are not at triple speed. The penultimate sequence is a ship sequence that involves flying straight ahead for roughly three seconds, with the word 'NICE!' flashing in the background.
- 85-100%: Finally, the player enters one final cube sequence, which can easily be completed without any distractions since there are not many obstacles. The level ends with Dhafin's name. At the end of the level, the creator's name, Dhafin, is written in blocks, along with the text 10*, indicating Dhafin's request to have Problematic be rated with 10 stars by RobTop.
User coins
- The first coin is located at 11% in the first cube sequence. It requires hitting a yellow orb marked with an X to land on an invisible platform and collect a key, which removes the spike on a column ahead and is free to collect by not jumping.
- The second coin is located at 30%, early into the wave sequence. It requires going downwards as a mini-wave in anti-gravity and fitting through a small passage between a sawblade at double speed to collect it.
- The third and final coin is located at 97% in the final cube sequence. It requires jumping over the creator's name, written in blocks, to land a little further from the yellow pad. The coin is near a spike.
Gameplay
Trivia
- Problematic's colour scheme is possibly based on Dhafin's choice of icon colour, green.
- Much of the community refers to Problematic as the 'Green Nine Circles', although other Nine Circles levels released at the time, such as Down Bass, are also green.
- Problematic is currently the most liked Nine Circles remake, which excludes the original level.
- The only fake blocks in Problematic used as actual obstacles are in the middle of the wave sequence.
- Problematic received criticism for its first cube sequence, which was deemed harder and more troublesome than the wave sequence.
- Problematic was updated in Update 2.0 to add user coins. However, they were unverified for a long time before RobTop verified them much later.
- In mid-July 2019, Problematic got hacked, making it a free Demon. A secret way was accessed by skipping the first blue orb.[1]
- Additionally, the same day, Problematic was briefly rerated to an Extreme Demon before being reverted to an Easy Demon.
- The level's name used to be uncapitalised, 'problematic'. It is unknown why or how it was changed.
- There is a harder Nine Circles level named Catastrophic that seems to be inspired by Problematic.
- There is a remake called Red Problematic, created by Pl3xus TV, which, as its name indicates, has identical gameplay, only with reddish tones in its decoration.
- The popular YouTuber Bycraftxx has uploaded said remake to his channel.
Errors
- It is possible to skip several portals during the wave sequence, including the second ship sequence.
- In the wave sequence, it is possible to miss the double-speed portal with the yellow anti-gravity portal, causing the player to stay at triple speed but still making it possible to beat the level.
Notable fails
- M31 failed at 97%, at the last spike, trying to get the last coin. He later beat Problematic without the coin.
- Complazra failed at 97% for the same reason as M31. He has now completed the level with all three coins.
- EricVanWilderman failed at 85% at the beginning of the final cube sequence, attempting to make a jump that he thought was possible.
Notes
- ↑ Problematic's length is 54 seconds, a Medium-type length, but it is displayed as Long and 1 minute in the editor due to an unchecked triple-speed portal and an extra half-speed portal put out of bounds.
