Codependence is a 2.1 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level created by TCTeam, originally verified by Kapinapi and ViralDl[1] and verified solo by Pukklez on 4 June 2023.[2] It is a two-player level in which each icon completes the equivalent of an Insane to Extreme Demon.
History
With freedom granted by TCTeam; Kapinapi and ViralDL applied some nerfs before the level's verification to make it more playable.[1]
Many people initially thought the level was impossible to beat by a single player. In April 2022, a player named Pukklez began to attempt a solo verification of Codependence. On 4 June 2023, almost three years after Codependence's initial verification, the level was verified solo by Pukklez after 165,000 attempts.[2] Pukklez had used the W and Up Arrow keys for two-player control, earlier mentioned.
Gameplay
Pre-duals
- 0-8%: (Konsi): The level starts with a sync-based cube section at half-speed with simple orb timings (also with Toggle Orbs) and sudden size changes after a short ball section at normal speed (later at double-speed). The player transitions into a sync-based mini-robot at triple-speed followed by a wave spam section at quadruple-speed before the player gets thrown into the infamous duals; the wave spam also consists of a text message in 'Konsi' as the creator of this part.
First duals (8-45%)
| Gameplay Part | Player One | Player Two |
|---|---|---|
| 8-20% (Zent + Hko + Arceus + AutumnLotus) | The first player transitions into a mini-robot at triple-speed before being normal-sized and a short mini-wave segment; this was before the first player goes back into the mini-robot followed by a short mini-ball section, then a simple mini-spider segment followed by a straight-fly section, and then into a ball section followed by a timing based UFO with gravity changes and a dash orb. | There are only two segments at the bottom portion of this part; the second player enters into a mini-cube with orb timings and various dash orbs followed by a mini-robot also having orb timings. |
| 20-32% (Cotchy + Delta + Carloz) | After a short mini-cube section, the first player goes into a mini-robot, then into a mini-cube again and then into a mini-robot again. The first player transitions into a simple mini-spider section; later, the first player returns to the mini-cube and the mini-robot for a moment before the mini-UFO with simple orb timings. | After the continuation of the mini-robot, the second player proceeds into a wave before going mini-sized and returning to the mini-robot for a brief moment. The second player transitions into a cube where the second player hits the ceiling; after a short mini-ball and a short mini-cube sections, the second player enters into a mini-robot before the auto-mini-ship section; after a short timing-based UFO, a ball section with a size change and a teleport spam section is also included; after a short auto-mini-cube, the second player enters into a mini-ship with few size changes and a gravity change, then into an auto-mini-cube after the short mini-cube and mini-ball sections and then a mini-ship straight-fly at the end. |
| 32-43% (Licen + CesDroid + StarkyTheSalad + ViralDL) | After a short cube section and a straight-fly, the first player enters into a robot followed by a wave spam, then into a short mini-cube and wave and then into a short timing-based UFO and an auto-mini-ship section followed by a timing-based robot. Next, the first player transitions into a ball and a cube being timing-based, followed by a ship segment, also timing-based; after this, a fast-paced ball section and an upside-down straight-fly were also included. | The second player transitions into a timing-based UFO followed by a wave spam section with a size change; after a short mini-robot, the second player proceeds into a fast-paced mini-ball followed by short mini-ship and mini-cube sections; the second player returns to the mini-ship and mini-cube sections later on. Next, the second player goes into a timing-based mini-robot followed by a timing-based mini-ball, a simple mini-cube and a mini-ship straight-fly segment with size changes. |
- 43-45% (hadeon): This section only features a simple mini-cube at normal speed with two jumps as a break from this level before the second row of duals.

Trivia
- The level is free to copy.
- The level contains 140,297 objects.
- The level is 2m 5s in length.
- The level was initially placed at #8 on the Demonlist on 15 August 2023, above Firework (#9) and below Sakupen Circles (#7).
- This addition pushed no jokes into the Extended List for the second time and Silentium Clavas into the Legacy List.
- According to Kapinapi, the top half (player 1) portion is more difficult than the bottom half (player 2).
- To this day, there are only two solo victors of the level, Reptilian and Conski, both North American players using this method of pressing the W and Up Arrow keys on the keyboard.[3][4] (Reptilian from Quebec in Canada and Conski from Ohio in the United States).
- Codependence is one of the seven 2-player levels on the Demonlist, with the others being Duelo Maestro, Elite Z Rebirth, CholeriX, Horros, Sides Of My Mind and me when machine gang.
- This level, alongside Horros and Sides Of My Mind, has been moved to the Legacy List on 15 February 2024 due to the temporary 2-player level guideline changes.
- This change pushed Scream Machine back into the Main List and Fragmented, CIRIDIUM and Fever Dream back into the Extended List.
- This change was reverted on 16 February 2024, pushing them back on the list.
- Codependence's placement pushed MINUSdry out of the Top 10, but coincidentally, Codependence was moved from #8 to #11 on 24 January 2024, pushing MINUSdry back into the Top 10.
- However, MINUSdry was kicked out of the Top 10 again after the placement of Tidal Wave.
