Dark Odyssey is a 2.1 Extreme Demon created, verified, and published by JonathanGD. It is a sequel and remake of its original version, Dark Travel, and has a much larger object count that its predecessor. It was an entry for GDS CC, but was finished long past the deadline of July 22th 2020, being completed in May 2021. JonathanGD took 13 months (143 streams) to complete it.

Gameplay

The gameplay is similar to Dark Travel with just a longer beginning and buffs.

The beginning of the level includes a short ship section with a LDM at the top of a wall. The level then enters an easy section with a cube, followed by a short section with a ball. The icon returns to the Cube, and shortly after holding a dash orb the screen begins to glitch out and teleports you to a robot at the pre-drop. There are many obstacles, including fireballs and lasers, as well as some small jumps makes this part harder than the first. The speed then gets faster and faster, until you reach the end of the pre-drop.

User coins

• There are 3 collectible user coins in the level.
  • In order to get the first coin you must first touch a glowing section of the roof in the first ship, which is in a tight space. Afterwards, before the glitchy dash orb, you must avoid hitting the jump orbs to collect a skull. Once you have collected those two, at the Robot before the pre-drop, you must jump over the orange jump orb and touch a small glowing section. Once you have done all that, you can collect the coin at the pre-drop.
  • In order to collect the second coin, you must activate two buttons that are during the mini-robot in the sewers. After this, in the mini-ship at 40%, there is a switch on the top of the screen above some obstacles. After you have activated these two things, a Robot portal and a mini-robot portal will spawn above the 45% cube, in which you can then drop down to an unlocked area and collect the coin.
  • In order to collect the third coin, you must collect two mini coins at the 70% cube parts by skipping the green orbs and jumping on a platform. After this, at the mini-cube after the final dual, you must go on top of the first block with the spike beneath it, and then select an area at the top of the UFO section by tapping twice when you first enter the portal. Once these have been done, two keys will appear at the last mini cube. Once you collect those 2 keys, the coin will be available by clicking earlier at the last jump.

• Jhostyn Sanchez crashed at 99%.
• GuitarHeroStyles crashed at 82% and 89%.

Trivia

• The level contains over 210,000 objects.
• The length of the level is 6 minutes and 15 seconds.
• If you die at 99% without jumping over a simple small spike, the message "GG" will turn into a red "BRUH".
  • Jhostyn Sanchez became the first people fails at 99% in Dark Odyssey, while he forget to jump over the spike.Template:Cite
  • Unless you turn practice mode or set StartPOS accuracy, the small spike will disappear.
• There are debates about the rating of Dark Odyssey. Some people think that this is a Extreme Demon due to the buffs and slightly harder than his predecessor and because of the length, while other people (including the playtester) have concluded that it is an Insane Demon.
  • Eventually, if this level is rated Extreme Demon, it will surpass Cromulent as the longest Extreme Demon.
