Forest Temple is a 1.9/2.0 Hard Demon level by Michigun. It is the fifth and final, and hardest, Temple level he built himself, as the last temple level on his account, Desert Temple, was fan-made, and Michigun's role was solely to verify that level. Forest Temple was Michigun's first 2.0 level. Forest Temple is Michigun's most downloaded and liked Temple level, and his second-most downloaded and liked level overall. It is also the fifth-most-downloaded and liked Hard Demon in the game. Forest Temple received generally positive reviews for its unique and learnable gameplay design.
Description
- 0-21%: Forest Temple begins with a tricky normal-speed cube section with several difficult timings and spike jumps, many tight spaces, and tons of triple- and quadruple-spikes.
- 21-26%: Next is a normal-speed UFO segment. This section contains several obstacles reminiscent of Flappy Bird, as well as numerous tight spaces where consistency is required.
- 26-31%: Afterwards, there is a half-speed ship sequence with extremely tight spaces and very little room to fly around.
- 31-41%: Following this is a difficult transition into double-speed wave gameplay, with dead bushes lining the walls. Because they blend into the dark background, there is much less room than it seems.
- 41-50%: Next, there is a double-speed ship sequence with many 'spike wheels' of twelve spikes arranged in a wheel, where the spikes pulse green in a rotating pattern. The player must manoeuvre through tight corridors up and down and do a bit of straight flying.
- 50-58%: The player enters a dark normal-speed mini-UFO section. The obstacles consist of numerous fading spikes, blocks, and platforms, making gameplay very difficult to see. This part requires some memorisation and timing to pass.
- 58-65%: This is the most notorious part of the level. The player must manoeuvre as a normal ship through tight spaces, but the real challenge lies in the four 'gates' the player must navigate. They are made of spikes placed one block apart; however, they close in on the player, making it extremely tight to get through.
- 65-72%: The player then transitions into a half-speed normal-sized wave section, reminiscent of DeCode. This part looks very intimidating, but it is one of the easier parts of the level. The transition into the robot is somewhat difficult, though, requiring travel at the right angle to avoid falling too far or going up too much.
- 72-81%: After a rather difficult transition, the player is in a normal-speed robot section. This area comprises many difficult, precise spike jumps and a lot of memorisation, as there are some invisible blocks.
- 81-87%: Following this, the player transitions into the second-to-last part of the level, which contains a tricky ball section that primarily focuses on tight timings and spike gaps.
- 87-100%: Finally, the player enters a short cube section, which gets its difficulty from memorisation. It is likely the easiest part of the level, though it is at the very end. At 93%, the words 'Forest Temple' signal that the level is over, and at the end, a Triforce symbol appears.
