Speed Racer is a 1.9/2.0 Easy Demon level by ZenthicAlpha. The gameplay revolves around constant speed changes, hence the name. This level also features many speed portals to add to the difficulty and the sync. The level tests the basic memorization skills of the player and goes much below the difficulty of a typical Demon level. It is one of the easiest Demon levels. Because of this, this is one of the most popular Demon levels in the game.
Description
[edit | edit source]Speed Racer begins with a simple cube section with orbs and spikes, then a mini-cube section with tricks and blue pads, ending with an auto part. After that, there are three brief parts: a ship segment with invisible spikes, a memory cube similar to the previous one, and a ball segment with basic mashing.
Next appears a semi-auto cube section with a few jumps, then the music beat drops, and a variable speed ship appears before single, then dual, then single again. Then, the player must fly upwards into the two-block wide gap. After that, there is a mini-ball with central blocks and clusters of speed portals, where the player must memorize the correct path to avoid hitting an invisible spike.
Then, the ball becomes dual with spikes and speed portals, disorienting the player. If the player chooses to flip the gravity before the second mini-ship, the player will play this segment upside down, causing the player to crash at the next cube segment. Afterwards, there is a single ship segment that alternates the layout of the previous one and the layout of the last ball dual (but before single and then dual). After a double-speed UFO segment, the player returns to a ship the same way as the previous one. A simple cube section, like in the beginning, leads to the last, longer memorization mini-ball. Finally, the level ends with a mini-ship segment. The background turns black, and the mark of ZenthicAlpha appears, with 'Zenthic' above and 'Alpha' below.
User coins
[edit | edit source]- The first coin is located at 15% in a mini-cube section. To collect it, the player must avoid hitting the pink orb to fly up to the upper route containing the coin.
- The second coin is located at 87% in the final cube section. To collect it, the player must avoid jumping onto the second-to-last platform. Instead, they must drop onto a fake block, then be teleported up to the platform, and continue the level.
- The third and final coin is located at 97% in the final half-speed ship segment. To collect it, the player must carefully fly over the saw-blade but then quickly drop down as soon as they obtain the coin to avoid crashing into the spike.
Gameplay
[edit | edit source]Trivia
[edit | edit source]- Speed Racer shares a name with an anime series and its 2008 live-action movie adaptation, leading some to believe it was named after this.
- ZenthicAlpha rarely references Speed Racer despite it being one of his most famous levels.
- Speed Racer received a bug-fix and coin update in Update 2.0.
- On 1 April 2021, RobTop accidentally deleted all of the comments on Speed Racer.
- RobTop said he had done this to six other levels as well.
- Speed Racer is the eighth most-downloaded Demon and the fifth most-downloaded Easy Demon.
Errors
- There is a bug at 75% where it is possible to skip the UFO portal.
- It is also possible to exit the ship upside-down, but it will eventually lead to a crash shortly after, due to needing to be upright.
