Codependence is a 2.1 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level created by TCTeam, originally verified by Kapinapi and ViralDl[1] and verified solo by Pukklez on 4 June 2023.[2] It is a two-player level in which each icon completes the equivalent of an Insane to Extreme Demon.
History
With freedom granted by TCTeam; Kapinapi and ViralDL applied some nerfs before the level's verification to make it more playable.[1]
Many people initially thought the level was impossible to beat by a single player. In April 2022, a player named Pukklez began to attempt a solo verification of Codependence. On 4 June 2023, almost three years after Codependence's initial verification, the level was verified solo by Pukklez after 165,000 attempts.[2] Pukklez had used the W and Up Arrow keys for two-player control, earlier mentioned.
Gameplay
Pre-duals
- Konsi (0-8%): The level starts with a sync-based cube section at half-speed with simple orb timings (also with Toggle Orbs) and sudden size changes, after a short ball section at normal speed (later at double-speed), the player transitions into a sync-based mini-robot at triple-speed followed by a wave spam section at quadruple-speed before the player gets thrown into the infamous duals; the wave spam also consists of a text message in 'Konsi' as the creator of this part.

Trivia
- The level is free to copy.
- The level contains 140,297 objects.
- The level is 2m 5s in length.
- The level was initially placed at #8 on the Demonlist on 15 August 2023, above Firework (#9) and below Sakupen Circles (#7).
- This addition pushed no jokes into the Extended List for the second time and Silentium Clavas into the Legacy List.
- According to Kapinapi, the top half (player 1) portion is more difficult than the bottom half (player 2).
- To this day, there are only two solo victors of the level, Reptilian and Conski, both North American players using this method of pressing the W and Up Arrow keys on the keyboard.[3][4] (Reptilian from Quebec in Canada and Conski from Ohio in the United States).
- Codependence is one of the seven 2-player levels on the Demonlist, with the others being Duelo Maestro, Elite Z Rebirth, CholeriX, Horros, Sides Of My Mind, and me when machine gang.
- This level, alongside Horros and Sides Of My Mind, has been moved to the Legacy List on 15 February 2024 due to the temporary 2-player level guideline changes.
- This change pushed Scream Machine back into the Main List and Fragmented, CIRIDIUM, and Fever Dream back into the Extended List.
- This change was later reverted on 16 February 2024, pushing them back on the list.
- Codependence's placement pushed MINUSdry out of the Top 10, but coincidentally, Codependence was moved from #8 to #11 on 24 January 2024, pushing MINUSdry back into the Top 10.
- However MINUSdry was kicked out out of the Top 10 again after the placement of Tidal Wave.
