Edge of Destiny (formerly Blade of Destiny) is a 2.1 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level hosted and published by CDMusic, co-hosted by Days of Thunder and verified by polterghast on 9 March 2023. It is a remake of Blade of Justice based on DuaL KiKi's unnerfed version. Edge of Destiny received high praise for its design, art, gameplay, and faithfulness to the original.[1][2] At the Geometry Dash 2023 Awards, the level won Best Extreme Demon.
Edge of Destiny began development in late October 2020 in a Discord call as a passing suggestion by Days Of Thunder, and thus, the project started. During the same call, Salamander and CuLuC offered their assistance, and CDMusic accepted; things went smoothly from there for the time being. A couple of weeks later, Zimnyte (owner of APTeam) heard about the project and offered to take it under the wing of APTeam as a project with CDMusic still as the main host. CDMusic accepted the offer, and the project commenced on 27 November 2020 and proceeded to progress healthily over the next six months.
On 7 February 2021, the level's first preview was released by Zimnyte, showcasing seven merged parts, one of which was soon replaced. However, in April 2021, due to internal drama that CDMusic and Zimnyte would not like to disclose, the level was taken away from APTeam and brought back into CDMusic's hands as a hosting endeavor. polterghast also achieved a run of 26-82% on an old version of the layout on 24 April 2021.
As of June 2021, CDMusic hoped to release a second preview of the level showcasing eleven total parts and new transitions made by CDMusic himself, CuLuC, and Linear. On 13 July 2021, CDMusic created a trailer for the level, stating that four parts are left to be decorated. On 12 November 2021, polterghast achieved 37-100% on the layout of the level - the layout has since undergone balancing changes.
After New Year's Day of 2022, CuLuC showcases a teaser of Edge of Destiny for the full level. It showed teasers of parts such as Uriun and Unerve, as well as updates to CuLuC's part. On 10 June 2022, CDMusic released his full showcase of the completed level. Nine months later, on 9 March 2023, polterghast verified the level after roughly 100,000 attempts, with two deaths at 95%.
The gameplay is similar to the unnerfed version of Blade of Justice with slight buffs and bug fixes. Only significant changes in the gameplay from the nerfed version of Blade of Justice will be documented below. For information on the full gameplay, see Blade of Justice.
