Thinking Space II (TS2) is a 2.1/2.2 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level hosted by DrCuber and CairoX and co-hosted by NineDice, verified by Zoink on 25 May 2025.[1] Alongside the legacy version of the level, it is considered an official sequel to Thinking Space. Unlike the original, its decoration is in a glow design style, featuring various space-like elements, and it is more similar in gameplay, with several references to the original, and the end of the level carries most of the difficulty like the original.

The level was initially designed to be the hardest in the game and the Top 1 level on the Demonlist. However, its difficulty was nerfed later, with the level intended to be placed within the Top 15. After Hyperlith dropped the verification and Zoink became the new verifier, he heavily buffed the level, returning it to potential Top 1 status.

Thinking Space II was rated and placed at #1 on 19 September 2025, over three months after its verification, surpassing Amethyst; it was surpassed on 24 June 2026 by Society.

History

2021

The story of Thinking Space II begins on 30 November with a gameplay preview of the level released by the group Communist Cyclone on their YouTube channel.[2] At that time, it did not have a specific name and was referred to as a 'Thinking Space Sequel', and it was only intended as a fun collaboration among the group without any further aspirations.[3] On 4 December, DrCuber previewed the part of the level created by Jawis, which he had decorated, announcing that he was now the host of the layout's decoration project.[4] On 5 December, Triforce posted his own part; he rebuilt the first half of Maxmur's part.[5]

2022

On 19 January, ADrone uploaded Meatius's part, which he had decorated.[6] On 6 February, DrCuber released the first official preview of TS2, where new parts and the nicknames of future decorators are demonstrated, with it already being half-decorated.[7] On 28 April, fnm04 showcased the level on his YouTube channel, which attracted remarkable attention to the project.[8] On 30 April, galofuf uploaded a video of HaydenDom's part that he decorated.[9] DiamondSkull uploaded a video of the final art he created for the level, with the help of ThunderDarkness and Kevellium, to his channel.[10]

2023

No new information about the project was given in 2023. With rare exceptions, TS2 was uploaded as an unofficial showcase by unrecognisable individuals. Some people were playing leaked copies of the gameplay and recording their progress.

2024

On 4 March, CairoX uploaded the fully decorated version of TS2.[11] ADrone's decoration was replaced by GamerKnight750, and creators Kurewa, NineDice, RealVet, Crowlley and Meox are also decorators. Hyperlith was appointed as the verifier. However, he was struggling to make progress because his skills were not enough to tackle the level's difficulty. This roadblock caused the level to find a new verifier, Zoink, who buffed it from the Top 15 difficulty to Top 3, with many believing it was already harder than Tidal Wave. On 27 November, fnm04 would post a showcase of the level, which already had Zoink's buffs.[12]

2025

After Zoink had reached 79% off-stream, he took a break from TS2 and played other List Demons instead. CairoX decided, based on Diamond's opinion, that it would be better to nerf TS2 to Top 15, since Zoink was struggling with it; however, this did not happen, as Zoink would buff it even more.

The level was finally rated over three months after verification, on 19 September 2025.

Verification

On 16 November 2024, Zoink began live-streaming his attempts to verify TS2. On the initial streams, he would achieve 50%,[13] 68-100% and 47-77%.[14] He would do frequent live streams at the beginning of 2025, although he took a break to verify his other project, Quanteuse Processing.

Zoink relaunched his live streams on 3 January. Off-stream, he achieved 51% and 53-100%,[15] after which he did another break to complete andromeda. By 26 January, he had completed TS2 in two runs, achieving 54% and 53-100%. On 4 February, he got a new best of 72%.[16] On 14 February, he achieved 77% as his new record[17] and then 79% off-stream again. After another break, Zoink returned to verifying TS2 on 14 April, achieving 90%.[18] On 2 May, he crashed at 95%, and similarly to Tidal Wave, it was the last click of the level.[19] Six days later, he got a 29-100% run.[20]

On 25 May, Zoink finally verified Thinking Space II.[1] He streamed himself verifying the level 31 times, for a total of 83,913 attempts. He died 11 times past 90% before verifying.

He later released a video on his channel called 'THINKING SPACE 2 // THE MOVIE (Top 1)' where he shared his experience with the level.[21]

Description

  • 0-7% (Jawis + DrCuber): Thinking Space II begins at half-speed with a ship sequence. It has gravity and size changes, orbs and teleportation portals. The ship must manoeuvre between obstacles in narrow spaces, making it harder. Sometimes, the player would be given a break in the form of platforms they can land on without dying, but there is no time to relax. This part ends with a straight-fly.
  • 7-16% (Rin04 + korewa): Next is a spider sequence with precise clicks and orbs, and then a ball that does the same thing but has size changes. Following this is a ship sequence featuring gravity changes in the form of portals and orbs that appear, requiring manoeuvring and straight-flying. This sequence leads to a brief dual, then ends with a wave spam section with size changes. It becomes normal speed at the end.
  • 16-23% (HaydenDom + galofuf): Next is a half-speed ball sequence with extreme timings, pads, portals and orbs; some are invisible. Many passages are narrow, making it more difficult. Following that is a cube sequence with similar gameplay, but featuring changes in gravity. The part ends with a straight-fly.
  • 23-31% (V453C70M14 + ADrone): A difficult cube sequence, then a UFO sequence with critical timings and tight spaces. Following this is a ball sequence that requires manoeuvring and a green orb timing, a difficult wave sequence, a mini-spider sequence with square orbs, and a triple-speed cube sequence with blue orbs. Some decorations block the screen, making it harder to see.
  • 31-38% (UFokinWotM8 + CairoX): There is a difficult normal speed mini-wave sequence requiring manoeuvring through a Clubstep monster, followed by a narrow space with spikes. The wave returns to normal size, but the spaces remain narrow and contain gravity changes. It becomes a mini-wave again, and the player must navigate a narrow passage with precise gravity changes.
  • 38-48% (Hyperbola + RealVet): Next is a difficult, short robot sequence with timings and orbs, and then a ball sequence; first as a swing-copter, then as a ball dual, and a mini-ball reminiscent of a Slaughterhouse ball. Following this is a brief robot sequence as it approaches the drop.
  • 48-71% (NcaT + KugelBlitZ + Crowlley): The drop begins with a triple-speed wave sequence featuring size changes that is reminiscent of the Avernus drop. The speed becomes normal speed with the spam, then returns to triple speed and to a difficult ship sequence with orbs. It briefly returns to a wave sequence, followed by a UFO sequence with orbs. Following this is a double-speed cube sequence with the same gameplay elements. Then, the player approaches a dash orb, dashing into a robot sequence, then into a wave sequence. It returns to a triple-speed mini-cube.
  • 71-83% (Maxmur + TriForce + Meox): Next is a tight quadruple-speed swing-copter sequence with many obstacles, an asymmetrical wave and a spider dual sequence, which has blocks and spikes scattered everywhere, then a difficult robot sequence with jumps between saws and changing gravity, and a ship sequence in space with blue orbs similar to Thinking Space.
  • 83-97% (Meatius + GamerKnight750): Next is a normal-speed short, narrow mini-wave sequence, followed by a mini-UFO sequence with severe timings using orbs, a double-speed mini-ship sequence with orbs and gravity changes and straight-flying, and a triple-speed narrow mini-wave sequence. It proceeds to a half-speed cube sequence, which requires orbs and memory, and then the level concludes with a normal-speed quadruple-spike.
  • 97-100% (DiamondSkull + ThunderDarkness): This part shows the end-screen. It features a background with rocks in rivers, a planet, and a satellite in the sky, along with the level's name in the middle of the scene.

Trivia

  • Thinking Space II was rated on 19 September 2025 and placed at #1 on the Demonlist on the same day, dethroning Amethyst after three and a half months.
    • This addition pushed Acheron out of the Top 10 after three years, Checked Steam into the Extended List for the second time, and me when machine gang into the Legacy List.
    • Thinking Space II is regarded as the 45th instance of the hardest rated level in the game's history.
  • The date of Thinking Space II's rating and placement is the same as Cursed's birthday, who turned 18 years old that day.
  • Thinking Space II was coincidentally verified on the same day as another top level, Amethyst, which wPopoff verified.
  • Zoink added a CBF detector at 95% without CairoX's permission, leading to a minor controversy.
  • Zoink's verification video has garnered over 3.7 million views and is his second most-viewed.
  • Zoink once used the '#ratets2' hashtag in a post on his Geometry Dash account, and this led people to start massively spamming the phrase everywhere, primarily on RobTop's social media accounts. It was very reminiscent of #ratetidalwave before its rating.
  • Thinking Space II, along with Amethyst, was placed at #2 and #1, respectively, on the Global Demonlist site on 25 May 2025.[32]
    • On 1 August 2025, Thinking Space II was moved above Amethyst.[33]
  • Thinking Space II is part of the player-made 'CMYK Tetralogy' as the K in CMYK, alongside Flamewall (Y), Amethyst (M), and Tidal Wave (C).
    • Funnily enough, the tetralogy is an exact reverse of CMYK, being a KYMC due to the ordering of all four levels' placements.
  • A potential theory why Thinking Space II, as well as other verifications, took as long as they did to get rated was Zoink's dislike of Viprin, leading to RobTop not being particularly fond of Zoink.
  • In Netermind's opinion, an 85% run on Thinking Space II is more difficult than beating Tidal Wave.[34]
    • During Vernosis's interview with Netermind, a question came up as to what makes the level so difficult, with Netermind saying that the second half of Thinking Space II (which, for him, comes at around 54%) is by far the most difficult, pointing out the extremely precise click and release timings, especially at the wave and fixed spike hitboxes at robot and cube sections.[35]
    • All this reasoning might be why many players who got far into the level could not get runs on 50-70%.
  • CairoX has been well-known for creating and remaking levels before he announced Thinking Space II, such as Lucid Nightmares and its sequel Lucid Chaos,[36] INFINITE CHAOS,[37] has a part in Cimmerian Shade,[38] Legacy, a highly decorated remake of Bloodbath which features a 65-100% extension,[39] has made an official sequel layout to ORDINARY called EXTRAORDINARY,[40] and has a part in Misanthrope together with Dorami.
  • Thinking Space II has been the hardest legitimately completed level for over 363 days, with the fourth longest time as the hardest completed Top 1 in the game's history.
  • A 'legacy' version of the level was created with decoration more closely resembling that of Thinking Space. Initially planned to be the level's LDM, it was later decided to be a separate, significantly easier level, also called 'Thinking Space II'. This version was verified by Zeronium on 5 February 2026.[41]
    • Both this version and CairoX's rated version are considered 'official', per the consent of all gameplay creators and HidekiX, the creator of the original Thinking Space.
    • Zeronium considers this completion his second hardest achievement in the game, harder than Slaughterhouse and easier than Abyss of Darkness.
  • It is often argued in the community as to whether a jump from Stereo Madness to Bloodbath is less difficult than a jump from Bloodbath to Thinking Space II.
    • On 15 March 2026, KingMoose completed Bloodbath as his first-ever completed level after over 130,000 attempts,[42] and nowadays, even the most experienced players spend tens of thousands of attempts to complete the hardest levels, meaning the earlier-mentioned claim is to take into consideration.
  • Coincidentally, when Penumbral was placed on the Demonlist on 29 April 2026, it caused Thinking Space to move down to #150 on the Demonlist, briefly causing both of these levels to be the easiest and hardest levels on the list, with the community calling it a 'Thinking Space Sandwich'.[43]
