Trueffet is a 2.1 Extreme Demon collaboration level by SyQual and Rainstorm, verified by Baeru.[1] It is the first instalment of SyQual's MapleStory-themed series, preceding Subterminal Point, and is an art and design level themed around Trueffet Square in Morass from MapleStory. After the similarly difficult level was finished on 6 May 2021 without the intention of dethroning the former Top 1 level, Tartarus, the level's verification was a race between RicoLP, Laniakea, Hyperlith, and Baeru. Baeru ended up verifying the level on 16 July 2021 after a 93% fail.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Note: Trueffet's gameplay was created by Rainstorm and all of the decoration was created by SyQual.

  • 0-29%: Trueffet begins with some tight cube timings featuring pink and black orbs. Next is a short straight-fly with black orbs that the player must avoid hitting. A few cube timings and a robot micro-timing follow. Then there are a few more cube timings and a few UFO timings. Afterward is a ship part and a UFO part with all types of jump orbs that the player must hit, as well as jump orbs that the player must avoid. A tight wave follows before the player holds down on a dash orb and is put into a dual ship part. The player must perform a very small straight-fly before having to perform mini-wave spam in the dual. The dual ends after some cube timings. After holding down a dash orb, the player must make one cube timing before being put into another ship part with black orbs that the player must avoid hitting. The last black orb, however, must be hit, which sends the ship downwards. The player must perform one straight-fly, followed by more must-miss black orbs. A few cube timings follow before the player must hit five black orbs with gravity portals on them. After an automatic cube part with invisible blue pads, the player must hit two pink orbs and one blue orb at slow speed. After another automatic part, the drop begins.
  • 29-48%: In the drop parts, the decoration is design-focused. The drop begins with two quick UFO timings followed by a wide ship straight-fly part. Then, there is a tight wave part followed by a cube timing. When the screen goes black, the player must perform controlled spam with the mini-wave to "angle" upwards and then spam through a short wave corridor. After a few more cube timings, the player becomes a ship that must hit a jump orb to change gravity in a tight flying part. One black orb must be hit before the player must perform a mini ship straight-fly before a few more cube timings. Next are some tight mini UFO timings with gravity portals and a black orb at the end. A ship part where the player must fly while angled downwards, while constantly changing sizes follows, with a required green orb at the end. Afterwards is a tight, normal-size/mini-wave before one cube timing over an inconsistent-sized triple spike. The screen goes black for a short time.
  • 48-69%: After a short quadruple-speed ship part is an extremely tight wave part that leads into one black orb the player must hit. Next, the player must perform a ship straight-fly with a gravity change halfway through. The player then must jump into a cube portal in robot form before entering a dual. This dual begins with two cubes, where the player must hit one black orb, then a spam part with ball and wave, and finally a spam part with wave and UFO. Following the dual is a mini-wave-controlled spam part that grows to normal size halfway through and shrinks again near the end of the part. The player must then hold down on a dash orb in the cube game mode before needing to hit a blue orb to go into a tight, semi-straight mini ship part. Some tight cube timings with blue and black orbs follow before a dash orb. A semi-tight ship part is next, with a gravity change in the middle. A black-screen transition with an automatic cube part follows.
  • 69-84%: After the transition, the decoration changes to a much more art-focused style. The player must hit a black orb before a few cube timings with some invisible gravity portals that make certain areas automatic. Next is a quick mini-wave timing before a tight normal-sized wave, leading into an automatic cube part with speed changes. Following this part is a yellow orb timing, then two UFO timings with a dash orb, and a pink orb at the end. Afterwards, the player must carefully time their inputs through an extremely tight mini-wave, with a gravity and size change at the end. The player then must perform a few cube timings.
  • 84-99%: Following the cube, the player goes into a quadruple-speed ship part that becomes a UFO soon after, requiring one jump orb input. After the UFO, there is a tight wave that then becomes mini before returning to normal size near the end. The wave then hits an invisible gravity portal and blue pads, sending it downward into the next part: a tight ship part. After a few cube timings, the player must hit two black orbs while in both UFO and ball game modes. They must then tightly time hitting two black orbs before going into a tight mini-wave part. The level ends with a short ship straight-fly and one final quadruple-speed upside-down tight cube timing.
  • 99-100% (End Screen): SyQual's logo appears on the bottom right of a black screen, and Baeru's name appears on the bottom left.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Trueffet was rated on 16 August 2021 and placed at #3 on the Demonlist on 15 September 2021, above The Golden and below Sonic Wave Infinity.
    • This addition pushed Kenos out of the Top 5, Crimson Planet out of the Top 10, Yatagarasu out of the Top 50, Photovoltaic II into the Extended List, and Endless Dream into the Legacy List.
      • Three of which are notable levels and two former Top 1 levels in the game.
    • Afterwards, Trueffet reached its peak on 14 November 2021 after swapping with Tartarus before being swapped again on 17 January 2022, although Trueffet swapped with another level a week ago. Trueffet was robbed by said former Top 1 level beforehand, along with Sonic Wave Infinity, Hard Machine, and arcturus.
      • Though Trueffet was never a contender to dethrone Tartarus as Baeru's opinion is at Top 5-10 and his own placement at #6, the change on 14 November 2021 was mainly described by players' opinion on the difficulty.
  • Trueffet was initially started when SyQual asked Rainstorm to make a layout with the song 'Sonorous'.[2]
  • Laniakea, one of the four players from the verification race, became the first victor of Trueffet on 22 September 2021.[3]
  • Many victors have described Trueffet's difficulty as very first-half heavy.
  • Trueffet was designed and named after Trueffet Square in Maple Story, which SyQual describes as one of his favourite games.[4]
  • Trueffet was in EricVanWilderman's 12 Demons of Christmas 2024 Community Series, as Demon #2, being completed by PersonHuman42.[5]
  • Trueffet is one of the most popular levels to complete on the Demonlist, standing at over 420 victors.
  • The placement of Through The Gates on 19 February 2026 pushed Trueffet out of the Top 100 of the Demonlist.
