Time Extreme is a 2.2 Extreme Demon collaboration level hosted, verified, and published by Vortrox.[1] Initially, it was only a buffed copy of Time Machine made for a YouTube video, but it was later decorated by Diamondskull, galofuf, FunkYFries, and Vortrox himself. The level was legitimately verified and published on 30 March 2025. The level follows a gimmick of 'time travelling' to different updates in Geometry Dash's history, incorporating the decoration style of the update it travels to.

Vortrox made the level in 2024 in a video where he super-buffs Time Machine, part of his 'Superbuffing Official Levels' series. This video went viral (similar to Stereo Extremeness) and received significant attention from the community, inspiring Vortrox to decorate the level. After decorating, he decided to verify it himself, spending 51 live-streams and taking 47,993 attempts.[2]

Despite Time Extreme's popularity, it is very negatively received by the community. Its decoration is considered low quality and unappealing, with many arguing it shouldn't be rated (let alone featured), while its gameplay is considered unfun and poorly made, due to it being very unbalanced and chokepoint heavy.

Verification

Vortrox's verification live-streams of Time Extreme began on 14 December 2024.[3] On the second live-stream, he managed runs such as 56-87% thrice, 64-100%, 56-90%, 56-96% and 11%.[4] On 17 December he did 56-82% and 29-45%,[5] on 20 December 56-96% and 21%,[6] 56-100% on 28 December,[7] 42-80% on 29 December,[8] 22%, 25% and then 37% on 30 December,[9] and 41% on 31 December.[10]

And so came the new year. Vortrox achieved a new best of 53% on 4 January,[11] then another best of 59% on 5 January,[12] Vortrox would then not be able to pass his record, however, he got 57% on 25 January,[13] and a new best run of 43-98% on 3 February.[14] Vortrox finally got a new best of 62% on 21 February,[15] 61% on 22 February,[16] and 65% and 42-100% on 25 February.[17] On 27 February, he fluked to 80%,[18] and improved his record by achieving 87% on 5 March,[19] Vortrox then got a new 88% record on 23 March,[20] and almost verified Cycles X on 25 March, dying at 96%.[21]

Vortrox finally verified Cycles X on 30 March 2025.[22]

Description

Time Extreme begins with an introductory sequence that takes the player through a futuristic-styled time machine, warping into the first section.

The first section is 1.0-themed, with several buffed spike jumps and a difficult straight-fly. The first coin appears in this section with three remarkably hard orb timings. The first transition leads to a 1.6-styled part with some breakable block towers. With the first mirror portal, it enters another ship transition to a part using a style of regular blocks with shaders over them, around 1.8 and 1.9-style. It then transitions into a section in 1.3-style with more difficult orb timings and jumps. It then transitions into a part with The 7 Seas/Deadlocked-themed platforms and a challenging robot part.

The background transitions into an early-2.1 style, and the gameplay consists of many difficult clicks and timings, including the iconic Fitzgerald monster present in many of Vortrox's other levels. The lyrics then say 'This is a time machine.' as the song drops and the player enters a small section inspired by The Impossible Game, the inspiration for Geometry Dash. The following triple-spike jumps reveal a 2.2-style background. The level ends with the same futuristic style as the level's beginning, with some difficult ship and wave timings.
