8o is a 1.9/2.2 Insane Demon collaboration level by Zobros and Etzer, verified and published by the former on 5 July 2015.[1] It utilises a large variety of blocks, but plenty of these blocks are in 1.7 (coloured blocks, coloured gears, etc.). In the beginning, 8o is poly-chromatic, containing two colours until the drop. Afterwards, the level focuses on high-speed timings and objects that constantly change colours. 8o is one of the most popular Insane Demons in the game.

Description

8o begins with a half-speed cube section that requires tricky timing and memorisation. The cube is easy to memorise if the song is memorised as well. As the song approaches its drop, the cube sequence speeds up to normal speed and slows down just before the drop.

After the cube, the player enters a triple-speed ship sequence, which consists of many tight spaces and sharp turns with jump orbs. Afterwards, the player enters a half-speed UFO segment that requires precise timing. The exact sequence (ship and UFO) happens again. Then, at around 67%, the player goes into a slow ship part and encounters a one-block-space ship part with a length of five regular spikes. The player then switches to triple speed and quickly changes gravity. Some gravity portals do not change the player's gravity, while others do, to confuse the player. A slow UFO occurs again, followed by another triple-speed ship sequence.

Then, the player goes through a two-block-space UFO segment at half speed. That is the maximum a UFO can jump (two blocks) by itself (without the help of orbs). The player then enters a triple-speed ship sequence and must navigate a space narrower than 0.5 blocks, followed by invisible ramps. The player then enters one final normal-speed cube segment. Zobros's and Etzer's names are located at the end, followed by a triple-spike.

Trivia

  • f3lixsram, along with Yakimaru, made an unofficial sequel called 8o X.
  • The drop of 8o is similar to the triple-speed ship sequence of Electrodynamix, where the player is in a very tight tunnel of spikes.
  • The pronunciation of 8o is a play on words in English, because 8 is 'Eight', and the letter 'o' is added, forming 'Eight-o'.
  • A 'JJ' text made out of blocks can be found above the last cube section.
