8o X is a 2.1 Extreme Demon collaboration level by f3lixsram and Yakimaru, verified and published by f3lixsram on 3 December 2017.[1] It is a harder remake of 8o, keeping the same formatting as the original level. The level focuses heavily on a glow-and-effect theme while keeping the same simple block design, and it requires precise straight-flying and orb spamming.

Description

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-13%: 8o X begins with a half-speed cube sequence. The player must click quickly to get through the orbs and remember which orbs to hit. This part uses a primarily pink-and-red colour scheme.
  • 13-29%: The level speeds up, transitioning from half speed to normal speed. This part requires as much orb spamming as the first part and increased accuracy as the player speeds up. This part uses a blue colour scheme.
  • 29-33%: The next part is the pre-drop. The level returns to half speed and requires significantly less spamming than the first two segments. The difficulty here is that a black gradient obscures 70% of the player's vision. However, this part is considered the easiest part.
  • 33-57%: This part is the first section of the drop. It generally relies on straight-flying and orbs for its difficulty. While most of this part is mini, some invisible size portals are in the corridor. The background, foreground and block designs switch colours from pink to aqua every second.
  • 57-92%: The second part of the drop is a bit more reminiscent of the original level. The difficulty drops significantly, but it still requires a lot of patience to pass. The player spends four seconds as a triple-speed mini-ship switching from pink to aqua, then enters a yellow five-second UFO sequence that requires spamming and accuracy to pass. This ship-and-UFO sequence repeats four times.
  • 92-96%: This part is a simple one-block-straight-fly between two mini-spikes as a mini-ship. This part is the only part in the level that uses a green colour scheme. It is still heavily focused on glow.
  • 96-100%: The final part is very reminiscent of the original 8o. Instead of 'ETZER' and 'ZOBROS', the names displayed are now 'F3LIXSRAM' and 'YAKIMARU'. The player must navigate a tight straight-fly before jumping over a triple-spike. Finally, the level ends, and blue, glowing text saying 'GG' drops down from the top.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • 8o X was placed at #63 on the Demonlist on 17 January 2018, above Photovoltaic and below The Ultimate Phase.
    • This addition pushed Sadism into the Legacy List.
  • 8o X is highly disliked for its gameplay; victors tend to give it a low enjoyment rating. Moreover, many players get a significant amount of lag at the first corridor of the drop ship due to the art of a computer monitor with the next 'Need 144hz?' that shows up if the player dies at the said corridor, presumably made to mock players with low refresh rates or bad computers.
    • The art is comprised of 5,923 objects.
      • This means that the single art piece has more objects than the entirety of Conical Depression.
  • 8o X was the first rated Extreme Demon to have a name that starts with a number.
  • Upon its rating, 8o X was the only Extreme Demon to lack a wave segment.
  • While 8o uses the first half of the song Eighto, 8o X uses the second half.
  • The placement of CYCLONE on 5 July 2019 pushed 8o X into the Legacy List of the Demonlist.
    • 8o X was moved from #153 to #140 on the same day, returning to the Extended List and pushing After Catabath into the Legacy List for the second time.
      • However, the placement of Triple Six on 18 August 2019 pushed it back into the Legacy List, also for the second time.
