Little Jumpy is a 1.7 Harder level by PunkySoul, published on 9 June 2014. It is the first level of the Color Pack.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Little Jumpy bears dense decoration throughout, mixing various decoration elements for its air deco and block design. Almost every gameplay element is adorned - orbs, pads, and portals. The level communicates jumps/clicks and fakes using symbolic pulser objects, with arrows for jumps and diagonal crosses for fakes. Throughout the grand majority of the level, the structures and highlights flash and loop between colours.

  • 0-12%: Little Jumpy starts with a normal cube sequence. Initially, everything is pitch black, except for a pulsing arrow. Approaching it, the part's highlights light up. A large sign with the level's title, as well as some spike jumps under it start off the level. The icon then has to jump over a saw, on top of some ground pillars, pass through a happy smiling face, and lastly, ascend via an alternating sequence of pads and orbs.
  • 12-22%: A slow speed UFO follows. The icon must hop through structures consisting of three pillars and a sign with some text. The first set begins with the first and third pillars low, and second high; the sign reads: 'CREATED BY'. The icon then assumes inverse gravity. In the second set, the pillars' altitude is inverted; this set's sign continues the previous, reading: 'PUNKY SOUL'.
  • 22-34%: The level proceeds to a normal speed ship part, with the icon assuming normal gravity. The player simply has to hold their input to effortlessly navigate a tight corridor with intermittent gravity changes. Exiting the corridor, the path splits upwards and downwards, with the bottom path leading to a crash by a wall of spikes; at this point, the player can continue holding to fly up to the top path and safely continue. Afterwards, the player will have to start controlling their inputs to fly up and down between pyramid-shaped structures.
  • 34-46%: A mirrored cube sequence begins. The cube has to do simple jumps and orb timings, occasionally bouncing off pads. The part overall involves bouncy movement. Towards the end, there is a fake in which the icon must slide off into and trough a structure, instead of jumping and thus crashing into spikes. Shortly following the fake, the icon will land on a happy smiling face and bounce off a pad on its nose.
  • 46-64%: The icon assumes very fast speed. This segment can be divided into two consecutive sub-segments, based on their gameplay patterns:
    • First, the icon bounces off a yellow pad, then flies into a gravity portal and has its gravity inverted, and lastly has to jump off a yellow orb. This pattern continues up to four times, with the fourth instance leaving out the orb due to the transition into the following sub-segment.
    • The icon has to jump over a saw; it then hits a blue pad and flies up into a normal gravity portal. This pattern continues up to four times, with the fourth instance launching the player into an exit mirror portal.
  • 64-74%: The level moves onto a slow speed ball sequence. In the first half, the icon only changes gravity, be it via gravity portals or inputs on ground. The second half involves some orbs, retaining similar gameplay structure.
  • 74-86%: The next sequence is a normal speed cube. The gameplay involves crossing pits of spikes via primarily normal jumps and yellow orbs; two consecutive yellow pads appear as well.
  • 86-100%: The background turns black. The icon has to chain three jumps on singular floating blocks, afterwards flying into a gravity portal. This bit stretches up to three times in total - second one under inverted gravity, and third identically to the first. The block arrangement is then mixed up, requiring a jump, fall, jump input sequence. The icon lastly has to chain some orbs. The level ends off with the message 'THANK YOU!!', accompanied by an auto chain of pads.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Above the playable part of the level and normally only visible in the Level Editor, there are:
    • An unused sketch for the 0-12% sequence;
    • Copyable bits of various structures, likely used to speed up their construction;
    • A long flat platform with the speed portal sequence copied over from the playable part of the level;
    • Landing from the platform, a prototype layout for the 74-86% sequence and and unfinished layout for the first 4% of the 86-100% sequence.
      • The unfinished 86-100% sequence layout can actually be seen in normal gameplay. Simply slide off the first chain of jumps under inverse gravity in the sequence and the icon will fly up towards the layout.
