Edge of Destiny (formerly Blade of Destiny) is a 2.1 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level hosted by CDMusic and co-hosted by Days of Thunder, verified by polterghast on 9 March 2023.[1] It is a buffed and redecorated remake of Blade of Justice based on DuaL KiKi's unnerfed version. History

Edge of Destiny began development in late October 2020 during a Discord call as a passing suggestion from Days of Thunder, and thus, the project began. During the same call, Salamander and CuLuC offered their assistance, and CDMusic accepted; things went smoothly from there for the time being. A couple of weeks later, Zimnyte (owner of APTeam) heard about the project and offered to take it under APTeam's wing, with CDMusic still as the main host. CDMusic accepted the offer, and the project commenced on 27 November 2020 and progressed healthily over the next six months.

On 7 February 2021, Zimnyte released Edge of Destiny's first preview, showcasing seven merged parts, one of which was soon replaced. However, in April 2021, due to internal drama that CDMusic and Zimnyte would not disclose, the level was taken away from APTeam and returned to CDMusic's hands as a hosting endeavour. polterghast also achieved a run of 26-82% on an old version of the layout on 24 April 2021.

As of June 2021, CDMusic hoped to release a second preview of Edge of Destiny, showcasing 11 total parts and new transitions made by CDMusic himself, CuLuC, and Linear. On 13 July 2021, CDMusic created a trailer for the level, stating that four parts are left to be decorated. On 12 November 2021, polterghast achieved 37-100% on the layout; the layout has since undergone balancing changes.

After New Year's Day of 2022, CuLuC showcases a teaser of Edge of Destiny for the full level. It showed teasers of parts such as Uriun and Unerve, as well as updates to CuLuC's part. On 10 June 2022, CDMusic released his full showcase of the completed level. Nine months later, on 9 March 2023, polterghast verified the level after roughly 100,000 attempts, with two deaths at 95%.

Description

Edge of Destiny's gameplay is similar to the unnerfed version of Blade of Justice, with slight buffs and bug fixes. Only significant changes in the gameplay from the nerfed version of Blade of Justice will be documented below. For information on the full gameplay, see Blade of Justice.

  • 0-6% (CDMusic + Viper Arctarus): This mini-robot part is significantly tighter, including additional spikes and enlarged spikes.
  • 6-12% (Linear + Avati + Rynoxious + HelpegasuS): There are no significant changes in this ship part, but there are some buffs and additional sawblades.
  • 12-20% (RealVet + CuLuC + Rynoxious): This wave part is also buffed with tighter spaces.
  • 20-28% (Avati): The straight-fly and Clubstep monsters are tighter, and the ball part is also buffed.
  • 28-33% (RealVet + CDMusic): The mini-portal in the UFO section is moved and stacked on a pink orb, and there are more sawblades. The dual wave part received some tighter spaces.
  • 33-37% (Nickalopogas + CuLuC + CDMusic): The dual-ship part is tighter and has an additional small spike before the cube transition.
  • 37-44% (Firy + Avati + HelpegasuS): The sawblades in the cube section are tighter, removing the first block platform, adding the third block orb and small spikes, and the orbs are buffed.
  • 44-47% (Unerve + CuLuC): The level title appears with a fidget spinner and spinning triangles with thunder transitions.
  • 47-56% (Parallax + CDMusic): The mixed dual part is way tighter, and the wave part has 13 additional sawblades.
  • 56-73% (CuLuC): A bright blue star appears in the background that eventually goes supernova. Entering the UFO part, the star becomes a black hole. The UFO part has tighter spaces between sawblades.

  • 84-96% (AppleCr + CuLuC): The ship corridors, ball clicks, and wave gaps are buffed, making them tight. The final ship segment has some additional spikes.
  • 96-100% (Endy + knobbelboy + Yoonsr + CuLuC, End Screen): The background contains the blade, the star and the black hole.
