Ashley Wave Trials
Ashley Wave Trials (abbreviated as AWT) is a 2.1 Extreme Demon level by OddMod, verified by Zoink on 2 November 2024.[1] In contrast to typical top levels, Ashley Wave Trials has a lively pink/red colour scheme and a playful atmosphere. The level was initially considered an impossible wave-based level, but it was rebalanced in 2021 and then rebuffed to around Top 1 difficulty. Released for open verification, Ashley Wave Trials saw minimal progress until Zoink returned from a hiatus in July 2024 and quickly made significant progress, eventually verifying the level later that year.[2]
Ashley Wave Trials initially remained unrated due to the use of the Click Between Frames (CBF) mod in the verification; the level was later rated on 29 January 2026 after CBF was implemented in the game and eventually placed at #13 on the Demonlist a month later.
Description
[edit | edit source]Ashley Wave Trials begins with half-speed gameplay. At 2%, the level accelerates to normal speed, with a cartoon character dubbed 'Pink Girl' appearing on the right side and remaining visible for much of the level. The level demands precision until reaching double speed at 9%. Another acceleration occurs at 13%, testing endurance with size and gravity changes. The level then halts at 29%, slowing to half speed for a break, then increasing to double speed at 30%. The player faces synchronized clicks until a triple-speed portal at 34%, navigating slope timings. At 39%, a normal-speed segment emerges, testing memory with paths and fake portals. Tighter spaces with spikes appear at 43%, followed by a double-speed segment and a challenging spam corridor. There is then a triple-speed acceleration, now testing control with gravity portals while rows of decorative spikes appear, building tension for the following segment. At 56%, the level increases to quadruple speed, intensifying the level with a red colour scheme. The player must traverse through strict spaces, teleportation portals, and spam segments as a mini-wave. At 69%, the level alternates the player's size, requiring manoeuvres through tight spaces, dash orbs, and cube portal challenges. The drop ends with dual sequences alternating in size, followed by a tight wave part. The level concludes with a half-speed outro alternating between normal and mini sizes, ending with a fake path challenge. The text 'YOOOOOO GG' appears on the end screen.
User coins
[edit | edit source]- The first coin is located at 17%, requiring the player to travel through the gap between the sawblades.
- The second coin is located at 76%, requiring the player to go between the set of sawblades above while upside down. This coin has pretty open gaps.
- The third and final coin is located at 97%, requiring the player to take the bottom route and pass three sets of tight spikes.

[edit | edit source]- Ashley Wave Trials was rated on 29 January 2026 and placed at #13 on the Demonlist on 1 March 2026, above Avernus and below Anathema.
- This addition pushed Coalescence into the Extended List, Aerial Gleam out of the Top 100, and Disconnected Descent into the Legacy List.
- With Disconnected Descent being pushed into the Legacy List, for the first time since the placement of Artificial Ascent, the Demonlist has zero levels relating to the iconic Technology Trilogy (consisting of Artificial Ascent, Digital Descent, and Cybernetic Crescent, with there also being remakes of all three, being Altered Ascent, Disconnected Descent, and MasmeCrescent respectively).

- Ashley Wave Trials has around 12 different versions in its history.
- While Zoink verified version 11, OddMod made a mistake and reverted the level to version 10, which ended up staying and not being reverted upon its rating.[6] This error was fixed two days after its rating; however, this update accidentally left a toggle trigger in the level that removed Pink Girl regardless of collecting the 'Disable Pink Girl' key or not. It was eventually fixed the next day.
- When Ashley Wave Trials was initially created, OddMod, the creator, jokingly made a post that whoever verified the level would get a date with her.
- This joke later became a meme in the community after the level was verified, with people joking that Zoink and OddMod were going to date.
- Ashley Wave Trials had gone without having a victor since its verification on 2 November 2024, reaching 572 days, until nickname became its first victor on 28 May 2026.
- Ashley Wave Trials has spawned many remakes, namely Ashden Ball Trials,[7] Mulpan Wave Trials,[8] Ashton Ship Trials,[9] and hardest game trials, an Insane Demon level inspired by The World's Hardest Game.
- icedcave's showcase video of Slaughterhouse on his YouTube channel[10] inspired OddMod to create a level called Chromatic Core. However, the level received backlash because one part was very unbalanced. Her reluctance to nerf it eventually led her to create Ashley Wave Trials.
- OddMod explained Ashley Wave Trials's entire backstory in her 46-minute video.[11]
- In said video, OddMod also revealed that the 'Ashley' part of the level's name was her own name, whereas the 'Trials' part of the name is inspired by 'The Cross Trials' part in -critical error-, a part she liked.

- Pink Girl makes a brief cameo in the GD GANGSTER RAP.
- The 'Disable Pink Girl' key used to be named 'Disable Ashley', which is also the name for Pink Girl. However, someone named Ashley requested that OddMod remove it.
- Similarly to Mystic with Clubette, Ashley Wave Trials's Pink Girl is often found in various Geometry Dash fan arts.[12]
- There was initially confusion between the versions of Ashley Wave Trials, which arose from a n1ckxd showcase, where he incorrectly referred to the final rebalanced version as 'unnerfed'.[13]
- Zoink jokingly referred to the version he was verifying as 'unnerfed' in the title of a progress video,[14] which led some to believe he was verifying the unnerfed version. He later clarified that the title was a joke.[15]
- This event sparked the misconception that Zoink had created the nerfed version, prompting him to explain that OddMod had actually made the nerfed version years earlier.[16]
