Conrad Hellman, better known as Darnoc (TheRealDarnoc in-game), is a former American player and one of the first creators in Geometry Dash, who created the first-rated level. He had one of the most famous level styles, which led many people to try to copy it. Many of his levels, especially his early ones, appear in Map Packs.

Darnoc had two other accounts; one was 'darnoc2', an unregistered account on his school iPad, where he also made many levels. Unfortunately, Darnoc lost that account when everyone at his school had to delete non-school-related games. He also had an unregistered Bluestacks account, 'DarnocBlue'.

History

[edit | edit source]

Darnoc started playing Geometry Dash in 2013, during version 1.0.

He quit the game in October 2015 after creating the level 'Okiba Crackdown 3'. He was also inactive on his YouTube account.[1] On 15 October 2016, he became active by posting a video of playing a VR game. In the description, he said, 'Sorry for no Geometry Dash videos kids.'

Out of nowhere, he returned to Geometry Dash on 1 February 2017, with the level Blacklights, a detailed 2.1 level that also received an Epic rating. Even RobTop was shocked, as he said in the comment section of Blacklights, 'He is alive?... :o'. Many other creators were shocked by his comeback, such as Partition, Serponge, Viprin, etc. He also made a level called Bonus Level, but he got bored with it and has not uploaded a level since. He uploaded his last Geometry Dash video on 9 February 2017.

When asked by player Krisz whether or not he would return to Geometry Dash, Darnoc stated that he would likely not, although he wants to play the new 2.2 level if the update is released.[2]

Darnoc continues to upload videos of various rhythm games on his YouTube channel, such as Spin Rhythm XD and Synth Riders. However, he has not uploaded any new videos for nine months.

At the beginning of 2024, Darnoc temporarily returned to Geometry Dash and made a few posts on his account, sharing his thoughts on Update 2.2.

Achievements

[edit | edit source]

Darnoc inspired RobTop to create the UFO game-mode with the test level 'gravity field'. The gameplay is a field of yellow orbs with obstacles in the form of cube blocks. The gravity and obstacles also change in the middle of the level. They revert to normal at the end.

Another of Darnoc's achievements was creating the level 'Wave Wave', inspired by an arcade game of the same name. This level also inspired RobTop to create the wave game-mode. This level uses a UFO with many blue orbs as gravity switches.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Darnoc has another YouTube channel called Darnoc703, but he did not post anything on it.
  • Darnoc also had a different Geometry Dash account on his school iPad called darnoc2; however, he lost it as his school required everyone to delete any apps unrelated to school.
  • Darnoc was one of the first three players to be promoted to a moderator, alongside Rob Buck and Viprin in August 2014. Before Update 2.0, he sent levels to RobTop in a private Skype group chat with top creators at the time. He was demoted in October 2015 due to inactivity.
  • Darnoc has a Newgrounds account, on which he posted music in 2015.[3]
  • In the description of DarnocDynamix, Darnoc revealed that he is partially colourblind and that his mother helped him with the colours of the levels he built.
  • Many of Darnoc's old levels are quite buggy.
  • Darnoc is currently the only player to release a level in every update; however, this may change if he does not upload a level in Update 2.2.
