love baba is a 2.0 Insane Demon collaboration level by Zobros and Demonico17, published on 1 April 2016.[1] It is a tricky level due to its strict timings, and it is well known for its initial innocent-looking theme with T.V. static-like decorations and then turns into a poorly decorated level with its final ship sequence filled with orbs. It was created this way because, at the time, Zobros had severe joint pain from the game.

History

[edit | edit source]

Zobros got the name 'love baba' from the spam bots that were attacking the Geometry Dash Forum. KrmaL became the first to complete the level on 9 April 2016, and said that it was underrated and one of Zobros's hardest levels.[2]

Zobros also said he would refuse to play until this level was rated, since KrmaL's level 'Don't Rate This Level' was ironically rated, and he wanted to see another poorly decorated level get rated.

Description

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-49% (Demonico17) love baba begins with a half-speed cube section that requires a few simple timings. Next, the player enters a ball segment that contains quite a bit of precise timings. Afterwards is a robot segment with tighter timings. In the middle of the section, the words 'Great Gaemplay' are ironically shown. Following this, the player enters a ship sequence where they must straight-fly through some considerably tight spaces while switching gravity every few seconds. Then the player transitions back to a ball for a brief time, as the section contains only a few clicks. The player then continues into a tricky UFO segment that requires them to traverse through the constantly moving spaces. At the end of the UFO segment, the top and bottom spiked floors begin moving, and the player must be careful to avoid either of them by staying in the middle.
  • 49-100% (Zobros) The player transitions into a short automatic cube section while the level fades to black. Unexpectedly, the level becomes poorly decorated afterwards. The player is now a faster ship that requires them to avoid one moving sawblade and invisible sawblades. On top of all this, the player must memorize what orbs to hit during a section that contains an abundance of orbs. The ship segment ends with the background flashing colours constantly, text that features the words 'c a n cc e r pl ss', and the player needing to fly upwards to avoid a wall of invisible spikes. The final section begins with an automatic cube segment featuring an abundance of monsters directly above the player. As this is going on, quite a bit of text pops up ('Thank you for playing.', 'Level made by Zobros and Demonico.', 'Special effects by Zobros.', 'Music: Empire of the Toads by Holyyeah.', 'Level made by Zobros and Demonico.', 'Monsters by Krazyman50.', 'Thank you for playing.', ':V', and 'G'), and then the player must proceed to jump over a quintuple-spike, after which the level ends.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • As stated previously, love baba was star-rated. It being rated angered many players, since they believed it was not worthy of a star rating due to its decoration, the exceptionally difficult gameplay, and the final ship sequence.
