The Hell Dignity is a 2.1 Extreme Demon collaboration level hosted by Stormfly, verified and published on 7 July 2017.[1] This is a remake of the identically named level by Sohn0924, and is the 3rd level in Stormfly's Hell Series remakes.

History

[edit | edit source]

The original version of The Hell Dignity was hack verified by Sohn0924 using the Practice Mode Glitch. Essentially, in the 1.0 of Geometry Dash, levels which were verified using practice mode still counted as being legitimately verified. This was supposed to be patched in Update 1.2, but it was not implemented correctly until Update 1.21. This is why the levels that Sohn0924 made look like they came from the 1.2 version, even though they were released in the 1.4 version. Since the game did not check what version you were on, this allowed Sohn0924 to get away with it at the time.

On 26 April 2014, Reflection exposed Sohn0924 on the Korean Geometry World forum for his attempts, jumps, and time spent on verification, stating that it did not make sense if Sohn had been playing truthfully from 0 the entire time. This level, along with The Hell Zone, The Hell World, and The Hell Origin, was unrated after the bug was reported to RobTop by a Geometry World admin. The bug was patched in Update 1.7 by preventing players from uploading levels while playing in previous versions.

Fast forward to 2017, and Stormfly would remake the level alongside many other creators. Only one creator from the previous entry would return to make a part for this level: S1l3nce. The remaining creators were all new, including KugelBlitZ, Tsukifuto, Ticky, Xaro, and NitroN6. While it was substantially nerfed from the original level, Stormfly still wanted the level to be hard enough to place on the Demonlist at the time. He would get this wish, as it would initially be placed at #28. This mindset changed when he returned to update the level in 2023 alongside his other levels.

Description

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-20% (KugelBlitZ): After a second of allowing the player to hit an LDM and ULDM trigger, the first jump requires the player to jump a triple spike, and then hold not to trigger the pink orbs layered under the ground. Following that are more difficult cube timings, mirrored, before un-mirroring into the first of many 'shut up' ball corridors. After another mirror portal into a brief ship corridor, you are once again unmirrored into jumping a quad flat spike which you must hold out of to leap into a ball portal to avoid being hit by asteroids. Following some semi-easier ball timings, there is another brief cube part with rough timings, another short but tight ship corridor, and one final ball part with fake orbs.
  • 20-33% (Tsukifuto): Following KugelBlitZ's part, Tsukifuto's part is one of the two easiest parts of the level. Following a short ship at the start, it is composed of only cube gameplay with a few orb timings scattered throughout, some of which are very forgiving or can even be buffered in some cases.
  • 33-42% (Ticky): From here until the final part, the difficulty ramps up DRASTICALLY compared to everything else in the level. While Ticky's part is the shortest part of the level, do not underestimate it. Following a short and relatively easy ship part, you are thrusted into the first of many brutal ball parts, containing a janky click into two gravity portals onto a mini block, followed by the longest 'shut up' ball corridor of the level. Since the clicks are not equally spaced, click consistency will not help you here.
  • 42-53% (Xaro): The first 6% of this part is very tame, composed of fairly easier cube and ship parts, but reaching 48% throws you into another brutal 'shut up' ball corridor. However, unlike the one in Ticky's part, this one can be made much easier with good click consistency skills. Two more easy cube timings follow this corridor before reaching NitroN6's part.
  • 53-65% (NitroN6): Afterwards, there are five very difficult cube timings which require you to jump over a single spike with gravity portals above them that make your jumps short, followed by a cube spam corridor. Following that, the difficulty goes down a lot until you reach S1l3nce's part, being composed of very basic cube and ball clicks, many of which are buffers.
  • 65-82% (S1l3nce): What many players will consider to be the hardest part of the level, it starts with a bang, featuring five consecutive yellow orb timings which require extreme precision to pass. Spikes line the ground directly beneath the orbs, and ceiling spikes are just a short distance above, so time them as late as you can. Following a few easy ball and cube clicks, you are thrown into the final 'shut up' ball corridor, consisting of only five clicks, which, once again, are made easier by click consistency. Next comes a short ship part where you must weave over two slopes of spikes while avoiding clicking the two yellow orbs in the middle of the gaps. There is then a quick segment of easier cube-and-ship timings before a brutal final segment of the part, featuring ball timings where you weave through ridiculously tight mini-spike gaps.
  • 82-100% (KugelBlitZ + Stormfly): Despite being the other of the two easier parts of the level, it is very easy to choke here. The first half is fully cube, composed of mostly glorified triple spikes. The second half has an upside-down staircase of pillars with spikes at the bottom, forcing you to click late. After this, there are three more difficult ball timings that, while still hard, are much more tame compared to everything else you've dealt with up to this point. One last short ship part with a yellow orb, into an easy ship gap, concludes the level and features an end screen.

Update

[edit | edit source]

Over the course of late 2022 and most of 2023, Stormfly would go through and update every rated level on his account, outside of The Hell Origin, as he deemed that he needed more time to fix it properly. This included The Hell Dignity, which received a variety of changes to not only fix gameplay issues and balance the level in spots, but also to improve the decoration. The full list of changes is as follows:

  • 0-20% (KugelBlitZ)
    • Decoration was revamped throughout to achieve higher quality.
    • Changed an upper block to non-solid at 3% that would randomly kill the player.
    • Rearranged the order of the spikes at 5%, so that the player never challenges the mini-spike hitbox. To quote Stormfly, the hitbox is garbage.
    • Adjusted a spike placement at 12% to fix an issue where the player would randomly die to it on higher refresh rates because of frame alignment.
    • Moved a big spike at 14% to the left slightly for the first cube jump.
    • Changed a block to a slab at 19% to account for potential awkwardness with the timing.
  • 20-33% (Tsukifuto)
    • Added more decoration and pulse triggers to make the decoration feel more vibrant.
    • Moved the portal at 31% down to avoid the cube from dying by hitting a block.
  • 33-42% (Ticky)
    • Removed Ticky's old decoration at the beginning of the ball part and extended Xaro's decoration to make it feel more connected.
    • As a result, it also fixed a bug where, when using the ULDM, the ball click at 36% was made virtually free by removing ceiling spikes.
    • Slightly readjusted spikes at 40% to improve music sync.
  • 42-53% (Xaro)
    • Unnerfed a jump to a block at 60% due to the nerf being completely pointless according to Stormfly.
  • 82-100% (KugelBlitZ + Stormfly)
    • Added floating embers across the screen, as well as additional lava lighting.
