Ragnarok is a 2.1 Extreme Demon mega-collaboration level hosted by knobbelboy and co-hosted by Xaro, verified by Technical on 19 May 2019.[1]

Description

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-6% (Pan + Davphla): Ragnarok begins with a very intricate art of a skull over a red background. Following that is a blue-themed half-speed cube section that relies heavily on timing and becomes a mini partway through. After this is a short, timing-based mini-UFO section with a few gravity portals, followed by a timing-based mini-spider section. The spider briefly becomes normal-size before returning to mini, and the part ends with a quick mini-cube section.
  • 6-11% (Rustam): Rustam's part starts with some half-speed straight-fly and a very tight normal-sized wave part. After tight timing-based spider and ball sections, the part ends with a robot segment that requires one jump, as Rustam's name appears. A creepy face also flashes every four to five seconds throughout this part.
  • 11-17% (Gaero): Gaero's section is a rather intricate cube section, alternating briefly with other forms. It is obscured by dark scenery with many fake orbs, as well as sudden speed changes. It begins as a half-speed mini-cube section before briefly becoming normal size. After some quick normal-speed ball and cube sections, the player enters a half-speed cube section that transitions into a quick but tight triple-speed mini-ship. Following this is a cube section that rapidly changes between half-, normal-, and double speed, after which come brief double-speed ball and triple-speed spider and cube sections. After a double-speed cube, the part ends with a half-speed auto cube section and a text display of the word 'Ragnarok'.
  • 17-28% (Th04): At the drop, Th04's part starts with a few jumps as a quadruple-speed cube, followed by a brief mini-robot. A short cube section with two blue orbs leads to a UFO with just one jump, and another short cube section brings the player to a fairly long mini-ship section with a lot of straight-flying and a multitude of orbs and gravity portals. After this is a triple-speed cube section that becomes mini halfway through and contains a fair bit of orb timings, then leading to an extremely short and tight quadruple-speed mini-wave, and after two jumps as a triple-speed mini-robot, the player must manoeuvre through a maze of saws as a quadruple-speed mini-ship. The part ends with some double-speed mini-wave spam and one jump as a double-speed cube.
  • 28-42% (Xaro): Xaro's part starts with a quadruple-speed cube section with plenty of fake orbs, which lead to brief mini-UFO and UFO sections with one jump each. After a cube section with only one green orb timing, the player enters the brief ball, mini-ball, cube, spider and mini-spider sections in succession, each with no more than one timing. Next is a mini-ship section with some awkward manoeuvring, followed by a short auto cube section, which brings the player to the short robot, cube, mini-cube, mini-ball, ball, cube, ship, mini-ship and mini-UFO sections, again with very few timings required. After a mini-wave, the song quiets down, and the player enters half-speed mini-cube and cube sections with a few orbs to hit, followed by a ship section with a few gravity portals. The ship briefly becomes mini before the player is presented with a short mini-wave, and the part ends with an auto section as the cube falls down a steep slope.
  • 42-51% (ZephiroX): ZephiroX's part starts with a half-speed ship section with a few gravity portals, followed by short normal-speed mini-ball, ball, and spider sections, each with plenty of orbs and timings. A quick double-speed straight-fly leads to a normal-speed wave section that briefly becomes double-speed before returning to normal speed. After a short mini-wave, the player enters normal-speed mini-ship and UFO sections, again with plenty of gravity portals and orb timings. Ending this part is a long cube section with orb timings that rapidly change between mini and normal size and half-, normal-, and double speed.
  • 51-56% (Bianox): Bianox's part begins with a half-speed straight-flying section with numerous gravity changes, orbs and size changes. After this comes a similar half-speed UFO section, again with plenty of orbs and featuring constantly changing gravity and size, and, towards the end, a dash orb that leads the player to the next part of the level.
  • 56-62% (Platnuu): Platnuu's part starts with a half-speed mini-ship manoeuvre flying section. After this is a UFO section similar to Bianox's, with many orb timings and one size change at the end. Following this is a normal-speed cube section with more orb timings, followed by an extremely tight normal-speed wave that becomes mini for a while before becoming normal-size again.
  • 62-73% (Tobi): After an auto half-speed cube section with a design on the screen, as the second drop begins, the player enters Tobi's part, which starts with a short triple-speed cube section, followed by an equally short quadruple-speed robot. A triple-speed mini-ship section with one solitary green orb leads the player to a double-speed mini-wave. The player is then teleported to a short triple-speed straight-fly, after which a short triple-speed cube section brings the player to a quick UFO, followed by brief sections of a quadruple-speed mini-cube and a triple-speed cube, which have one blue orb each. After a brief UFO section with many gravity portals, the player is teleported again to a triple-speed cube, followed by a brief UFO. A quadruple-speed cube with one yellow orb follows. One timing as a triple-speed spider to a ship section, which becomes a quadruple-speed mini-ship, leading to a mini-robot with one jump. A triple-speed cube transitions into a mini-ship, and a quadruple-speed UFO brings the player to the next section.
  • 73-82% (Enlex): Enlex's part begins with a quadruple-speed cube containing only one green orb, followed by a triple-speed ship that turns into a mini-ship straight-fly. A UFO section with many gravity portals leads the player to a short cube section, which in turn leads to an equally short ball section. Following this is a tight mini-wave that briefly becomes normal-sized before the player enters a short cube section. A short ball section transitions into a ship section that changes size and gravity a few times, followed by an auto UFO and mini-cube. A green orb timed as the cube brings the player to a ball section with a few orb timings, after which the player enters a quick mini-wave. A brief mini-cube transition leads to yet another mini-wave, which becomes normal-size before the player is presented with a manoeuvre-flying section. A couple of yellow pads at the end boost the player to the next part.
  • 82-87% (Ji): Ji's part begins with a half-speed UFO featuring plenty of orb timings and gravity changes, followed by a similar ball section. After a ship section with a few orbs and a lot of straight-flying, the player encounters a wave section with many gravity portals and D-blocks. An auto cube transitions the player into the next part.
  • 87-93% (Darwin): Darwin's part starts with a half-speed mini-ship section where the player must manoeuvre around moving objects. After a normal-speed, normal-sized ship straight-fly with a gravity change in the middle, the player enters a half-speed cube section with many orb timings. A short ship section leads to a timing-based ball section, and normal-speed wave spam leads the player to a half-speed cube section with more orb timings that change to mini halfway through.
  • 93-100% (knobbelboy): The final part of the level, knobbelboy's part, begins with a half-speed ship section featuring two orbs, followed by a triple-speed part with only one dash orb. After this, the speed changes back to half for two more orbs and then triple speed with another dash orb. After a normal-speed timing-based ball section, the level ends with a double- and triple-speed wave and quadruple-speed dual-wave section, each with only one timing. The end screen then shows a white symbol with the word 'Ragnarok' written in purple letters over it.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Ragnarok was placed at #6 on the Demonlist on 16 June 2019, above Sonic Wave and below Gamma.
    • This addition pushed Stalemate Redux out of the Top 25, Down Bass into the Extended List, and New Supersonic into the Legacy List.
  • knobbelboy initially announced that the verifier would be Zephal, the verifier of Stalemate Redux, but later dropped the verification and gave it to Technical, the backup verifier, who verified it.
  • In Norse mythology, Ragnarök is a series of future events, including a great battle, foretold to ultimately result in the death of several major figures (including the Gods Odin, Thor, Týr, Freyr, Heimdallr, and Loki), the occurrence of various natural disasters and the subsequent submersion of the world in water.
  • The skull art at the beginning was originally made by knobbelboy for Yatagarasu.
    • The skull actually originates from the album cover of 'Masters of Hardcore' (2000).
  • According to Technical, Gaero's part was originally so difficult that Ragnarok would have been humanly impossible had every part been as difficult.
  • In Ragnarok's, as well as Tapwreck, TANTRUM, and Tenth Circle's case, the song was on Newgrounds, but it was removed by either the song publisher or Newgrounds.
  • The placement of Blood Echo on 27 September 2025 pushed Ragnarok into the Legacy List of the Demonlist.
    • Ragnarok is the last level on the Demonlist hosted by knobbelboy to fall into the Legacy List.

Notable fails

  • Technical crashed twice at 98% while verifying Ragnarok and beat it during the same stream.
  • Astrala was the first person to crash at 99%.[2]
