Dastardly is a 2.2 Insane level by Subwoofer. It is the first level to be rated after Update 2.2 was released, and was uploaded almost immediately after the update.

Description

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-19%: Dastardly begins with a mini-cube sequence, and the start of the level contains three sections. The first section contains two small spikes; next is a 2x2 platform and two yellow orbs, followed by another 2x2 platform with spikes. After that is a platform with four small spikes, and above is a yellow orb that leads the player to two moving platforms going up and to the right. Beside the platforms is a path that leads the player past two small spikes before heading towards the second section. The second section has a player to jump off the platform to touch a yellow orb and a spider orb to make the player upside down. Next is a platform that leads to a yellow pad, and below it is a 2x2 platform with spikes. The yellow pad will take the player to a spider orb and to the platform with a block in between the spikes at the right side of the platform. Right beside the spike is a pink orb and a dash orb that lead to the third and final section. The final section features a normal gravity portal with an S-block that prevents the player from holding. Next is a platform one block below, leading to a large pillar that requires the player to jump onto it. At the right side of the pillar is a single spike that leads to an ascending platform with two spikes (dubbed as a 'big movey thing'). After that, a path leads the player to a corridor with skulls that open their mouths to fire when the player approaches, leading to an open door. When the player enters, the door closes behind them. For a brief period, the camera goes downwards off-screen, ending the first cube section.
  • 19-27%: Shortly after that, the player becomes a ship and must traverse three small sections before dying, and the camera goes down slowly as the player descends. The first has a platform on the left side so the player can see themselves, and it features floor spikes and a sawblade at the top. The second has six spikes, one of each for the floor and the ceiling, and the sawblades are at the roof in reverse gameplay. A normal-size portal is between the spikes. The third and final section has three sawblades: two on the floor and one at the ceiling. One of the sawblades is smaller, leading to the spider portal with a normal-speed portal.
  • 27-35%: At the beginning of the spider section, there is an upside-down platform that leads to a red pad and leads to a teleport orb. Afterwards, the player led to a platform, and below it is another platform with pink pads that lead to a pink orb. Then the player leads to a structure that opens its mouth, leading the player to two rows of spikes (one on the floor in between and the other on the ceiling at the far right) before the pink pad that leads to a spider orb. Next, the player needs to teleport off the upside-down platform to avoid the spikes, then go for a series of pillars that lead to a fourth pillar with pink pads. The pads direct the player to a green orb before they land on the platform. Afterwards, the player needs to react quickly before touching a series of spikes as the platform moves up one level. During this, the pillars fall onto the platform as the player teleports off one by one, ending with the third. The player must teleport upside down to reach the pink platform, then teleport off of it again to another platform that leads to a yellow orb, which goes behind the normal route and leads to a robot portal.
  • 35-44%: Then there are two moving pillars, one ascending while the other is descending. After the descending pillar, a green orb will direct the player under the platform with spikes. A similar case occurs when the player is right side up from the green orb, but the top spikes are replaced with a sawblade. Afterwards, a blue orb will lead the player to an upside-down platform with spikes at the platform and a sawblade below it before leading towards the blue orb. Then, there are two platforms: one requires the player to jump off to reach a yellow pad that redirects them to the normal path; the wall closes off afterwards.
  • 44-60%: Next is a swing section with double-speed portal, and it takes place inside a castle-like building. It starts with obstacles with slopes that have spikes on either side, followed by pillars with spikes at the top and bottom. Between a group of pillars are sawblades at the top and the same obstacle beforehand at the bottom. Next are two rotating chains with torches circling the sawblade, with two openings for the player to pass through. Then there are more sawblades, between the two sawblades is a smaller one below, being a lone sawblade with pillars hanging the sawblades. Then, there are more obstacles: the player must go up a bit before going through the pillars, then encounter another rotating obstacle. After that, the player must avoid the obstacles until entering the cube portal. Upon entering the portal, the screen turns black and white, and a series of platforms appear, with one of them having a pink pad. Then two platforms appear, with one block connected to the main one. Between them is a pink orb that leads to a door that closes behind the player upon reaching it, and the screen goes black for a brief period.
  • 60-69%: After that, the ball section is in a series of corridors, and the camera will change degrees as the player reaches the door. The first segment comprises two sets of spikes: the first is on the floor, while the second is on the ceiling above the door. The second segment is when the player goes downwards at a sideways angle, needing only one jump, with the spikes at a similar spot as before. The third segment is the same deal, but the player goes up instead, and the spikes are far away from the doors. The fourth and final segment is similar to the first segment, but the player is reversed, and there is no door on the other side; instead, a pit leads to a group of pink pads that reroute the player towards the UFO portal.
  • 69-78%: The UFO gets dark with little to no light while the only light source is the lightning obstacles. Right after the end of the corridor, there are two structures with spikes, one going up and the other going down. Then, a corridor of spikes with three spikeball enemies charges at the player and glows one by one; two of them are at the bottom, while the other is at the top. After that, another structure appears, with no spikes leading to a triple-speed wave section.
  • 78-87%: The wave section takes place outdoors at a fast pace with a waterfall behind the structure. After the wave section, it leads to a cube portal, then to a yellow pad, then to a stair-like platform, then to a dash orb, into the final section of the level, and the camera rotates 90 degrees.
  • 87-100%: The final section of the level is a dual-cube at double speed, but before that, the player needs to jump above the spikes before heading towards a double-speed portal and pink pads. After that, the player needs to jump off the platform to touch the yellow orbs to reach the pillars. A block with spikes prevents the player from jumping, so the player must not jump before jumping to the pink orbs once the player is under the block. The pink orbs lead the player to a mini portal and to the platforms where both cubes can land. The player needs to jump over the spikes twice before touching the yellow pads that lead to the same structures at the beginning of the section, but this time the player is mini. Afterwards, both ball portals for both cubes that lead into two platforms and one at the middle, a row of spikes is present in this sequence, the spikes at both floor and roof, while the row at the middle platform and the row spanning the rest of the platforms, while the middle one has pink pads. Then, the two platforms are close together, with two sets of double-spikes between them; the player needs to act quickly before hitting the spikes. It then leads with a black orb that guides the platforms for two cubes, and right beside it is a cube with spikes. The platforms lead to a yellow orb and to the middle platform with spikes at the far right, and to platforms similar to the middle one, but with yellow pads right next to them. The pads lead the player outside, exiting the dual as a normal-sized cube. The player goes down the staircase that leads to an upside-down staircase with a potion that turns the player into a mini and reverses gravity (consists of an F-block). It leads to a potion that makes player size normal and ends the level.

User coins

[edit | edit source]
  • The first coin is located at the beginning of the level, at the third segment of the first mini-cube. The player must avoid jumping from the moving platforms and jump onto the yellow orb to grab the coin. Two platforms then appear, one of which has a red pad to redirect the player back to the main path.
  • The second coin is located in the robot section. The player must jump from the wall of the second moving pillar, then jump to the pink orb, and then jump to get the coin.
  • The third and final coin requires the player to be mini to grab it. During the swing section, a pink potion is under the sawblade and it requires swing skills to grab it. Once grabbed, the player becomes mini. If the player reaches the cube portal without dying, they are small enough to fit under the platform and grab the coin.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Dastardly uses one song and 12 SFX.
  • Dastardly is one of the first rated levels in Update 2.2, along with Enjoying The Sun, Bouncy Castle, and WACKY WONDERLAND.
    • The reason why the levels were released on the same day is that the creators of these levels had access to a beta version of Update 2.2 that allowed them to create custom levels ready for the update's release.
  • If the player crashes at various parts of the level, the text at the bottom of the screen will change at the beginning:
    • When entering (Boy oh boy)
    • Dying at the first cube to the ship part (Dead already?)
    • Dying at the spider part to the second cube part (Having fun yet?)
    • Dying at the ball part to the UFO part (Disoriented?)
    • Dying at the wave to the last cube part (Ahahahahaha)
  • The ball part has an off-screen problem for most devices during the sideways part, making the player unable to see the doors through which they are coming out.
  • The potions that change the player's size are also used in the official level Dash.
