Sea
Sea (planckLength in-game, SEA on YouTube, formerly known as Sea1997) is a retired English player and content creator, known for his content surrounding Geometry Dash's lore and community. His videos received acclaim for their relative professionalism and depth, with some of the most successful series on his channel being The Legends Series, Maps from Hell Series and GD Theories, but criticism for his sometimes unprofessional and pessimistic attitude, especially towards other players (highlighted by his diss track about Cyrillic and participation in one about ToshDeluxe) and the decline in the quality of his Geometry Dash-related content. While not a frequent player or level creator, Sea kept in touch with the community through his numerous videos and his own Geometry Dash 'news show' called 'G-News'. G-News as a concept has been attempted to be revitalised many times, with people like Vortrox[1] and Vit12[2] creating their own Geometry Dash news shows.
Aside from Geometry Dash, Sea also produces videos on topics such as outer space and conspiracies, most recently endeavouring to push more videos unrelated to Geometry Dash.
On 20 March 2019, Sea announced that he would quit Geometry Dash and related content creation,[3] and would begin to unlist existing videos about the game and its community. Among the reasons cited for this decision, Sea noted that his previously mentioned content on outer space was much more personally rewarding and more successful on the platform, and that he had gained perspective by temporarily shutting himself off from the mishaps of the Geometry Dash community. However, he will still occasionally comment on Geometry Dash videos from time to time, such as Riot's completion of Athanatos.
Sea's playlist containing his unlisted Geometry Dash videos has roughly 74 videos privatised, most due to YouTube's 2021 unlisted videos purge, in which any unlisted video uploaded before 2017 would automatically become privatised, while a few were due to other reasons. There is currently only one surviving video from before 2017: the 'Cyclic' video from the Legends Series. Many videos were lost, either with no archive on The Wayback Machine or with an archive that lacks the actual video.

Trivia
[edit | edit source]- Other than the main series on his channel, Sea often uploads several miscellaneous videos on specific topics, including rants (or moaning as he likes to call it) towards a point of interest or infamy.
- Sea 'moaned' about Exasperation and Jake Paul's Top 10 videos.
- Sea has hosted a couple of creator contests.
- The first Sea creator contest was super minor with little to no information available.
- Sea hosted his second creator contest to celebrate his 20,000 YouTube subscriber milestone, which included only Extreme Demon entries following a few guidelines, such as not using 'overused' songs at the time and using all game-modes within Update 2.0, including the dual-ball swing-copter.[4] This contest came with a few prominent levels, such as Erebus, Angelic Blood, Delta Interface, etc.
- One of Sea's levels, Betrayal of Fear, was cancelled because of the backlash towards the level's gameplay and design.
- Sea's profile picture was taken from the Infinity Blade trilogy.
- Sea's previous username was 'Sea1997'. However, he decided to officially change his alias to 'Sea' as he began to feel the name no longer sounded professional.
- Although he retired from Geometry Dash and his videos from Geometry Dash were unlisted, Sea's 'GD' playlist is still available on his channel.[5]
