The All Rated Extreme Demons List (AREDL) is a popular community-made list that ranks every rated Extreme Demon in the game based on difficulty. The community and list were established on 17 November 2022 to expand beyond the Pointercrate Demonlist essentially. AREDL has separate lists for both classic and platformer levels. It currently ranks GRIEF as the hardest classic level and Nautical Nightmares as the hardest platformer level.

Before 15 September 2024, the AREDL's Top 150 was separate from the Pointercrate Demonlist and was determined by the community. Since then, the AREDL has used the current Top 150 placements from the Demonlist for its Classic List. Additionally, the AREDL also uses the current Top 150 placements from the Platformer Demonlist for its Platformer List. Levels pushed into the Legacy List are not ranked on any Demonlist; however, those levels, along with any Extreme Demons that are not list-worthy, are constantly ranked and updated on the AREDL.

There are currently over 30,000 registered AREDL leaderboard profiles and more than 20,000 Discord server members, making the AREDL a significant part of the Geometry Dash community, as well as establishing a more accessible competitive experience for players who may not possess the skill to tackle levels on the Demonlist.

Description

The AREDL ranks Extreme Demons based on community consensus and the current Demonlist placements for Top 150s, with a dedicated opinions channel within the Discord server. Like the Demonlist, each Extreme Demon gives an amount of points that scales with difficulty; however, while the Demonlist allows players to attain a certain percentage on Top 75s for a partial record and some points, the AREDL does not, and all records for the Top 75 levels must be full 100% completions. The levels are normally ordered from most to least difficult; however, there is a filter option that allows players to include or exclude certain tags, or sort Extreme Demons by their EDEL Enjoyment Rating (a project that allows players to submit their enjoyment ratings for an Extreme Demon).

A player who has completed an Extreme Demon may submit a record for it to the AREDL via the dedicated Submit A Record button on the website, where they must provide footage of the completion that meets the AREDL Guidelines. Once the record is submitted, it is placed in a queue and eventually reviewed by a List Staff member, who determines whether the record is legitimate. When the record is accepted, the player is given the level's points and a completion record on their profile, as well as a position on the level's dedicated leaderboard ordered from first to last victor and a position on the AREDL Leaderboard. The amount of points a player has determines their position on the AREDL Leaderboard, and extra points can be given by completing Packs, which are themed sets containing 3-5 Extreme Demons each. Players are able to change custom details about their AREDL Leaderboard profile, including their nickname, biography, country and profile background, which can be changed to a completed Extreme Demon of their choice. Players can also change their leaderboard status to Unranked, which removes them from the leaderboard and hides the points they have accumulated. The leaderboard also has separate categories for ranking countries and clans. The current highest-ranked player on the AREDL Classic Leaderboard is iliLaserili, the current highest-ranked country is the United States of America, and the current highest-ranked clan is MOON🌙. For the Platformer Leaderboard, the current highest-ranked player is Masked MSS, the current highest ranked country is Singapore, and the current highest-ranked clan is Those Who Know.

There is a subscription plan for AREDL users called AREDL+, which offers various benefits, including priority queue, a profile symbol, a display name colour on the Discord server, the ability to join the official AREDL clan, and dedicated Discord channels exclusive to AREDL+ members.

The AREDL website also includes a few extras under the Challenges/Games category. The extras include:

  • Extreme Demon Roulette - A popular challenge in which the player is given a random Extreme Demon that they must attain a percentage on to progress to the next one. The first Extreme Demon requires the player to obtain 1%, the next one requires 2%, and so on, until the player finishes the Roulette by completing the last Extreme Demon.
  • Extreme Demon Alphabet - A challenge that assigns the player a random Extreme Demon with a title that starts from A-Z on the alphabet (e.g. A for Allegiance, B for Broken Signal). The player must complete their assigned extreme to progress to the next.
  • Wheel Spinner - A wheel similar to the Wheel of Names, but with Extreme Demons instead. The player can manually add Extreme Demons to the wheel and spin it to land on one.
  • Higher or Lower - A challenge where the player has to guess if the Extreme Demon given on the right has a higher or lower placement than the one given on the left.
  • AREDLE - A challenge where the player has to guess an Extreme Demon, with each guess providing clues to the answer.

The AREDL is led by a team of people referred to as list editors and helpers. They have a public Discord server that includes the most up-to-date list changelog, announcements for guideline changes, list team application forms, support for player profile requests, roles which can be synced to player profiles, and various channels for discussing the AREDL or among others who are interested and involved with the list.

Every year since 2024, the AREDL's YouTube channel has published a video ranking every Extreme Demon that came out in the year prior, from worst to best, ranked by the staff and certain community members. The worst and best Extreme Demons of each year, ranked by the AREDL, are as follows:

The AREDL has received praise for its accessibility, allowing less skilled players to earn a place on a leaderboard and providing an estimate of how hard each Extreme Demon in the game is, making it easier for players to decide which Extreme Demons they would like to beat and progress with. However, the AREDL has received criticism on multiple occasions. One example is the extremely large submission queue, which prevents players from getting their records reviewed within a reasonable or consistent timeframe, with records taking as little as minutes and as long as months to be reviewed by the List Team. However, due to the AREDL's very ambitious and large scale, the queue is virtually impossible to manage properly. One way to gain higher priority in the queue is to purchase the AREDL+ subscription, which is also a subject of criticism.
