Caput Mundi is a 2.1 Easy Demon mega-collaboration level published by RoyalP, featuring several prominent Italian creators. It is the first level of the Galaxy Gauntlet.

Description

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-4%: Caput Mundi begins with a cutscene showing a cube (likely representing the player) falling from the sky. The level then transitions to a Roman-style layout with platforms, orbs, and jump indicators.
  • 4-13%: The environment around the player then appears to start burning, but the gameplay is still mostly similar. Then the player goes into a building with torches, candles, and chandeliers. The next section is a quick ship section with gravity portals. The next section shows some knives, but they are mostly the same decoration.
  • 13-18%: The next section shows the player going down a flight of stairs, which then transitions into a ball section with a library environment, with gravity portals and orbs.
  • 18-29%: The player then turns into a robot with some jumps, then into a mini ball, again with some clicks. Next, the player turns into a cube and goes into a cellar or dungeon. The player changes game-modes into a ball, then a cube again, and then transitions to the next section, which begins with the ship.
  • 29-39%: As the ship, the player has to navigate between spikes. It is not a difficult section, as the spikes are moderately spaced. Then, as the cube, the player is now in a mineshaft environment, with orbs and jump indicators. The player then appears to break some boulders blocking them to transition to the next section.
  • 39-56%: The player is now a spider, with orb and pad gameplay. Then, as the mini cube and the ball, the player must hit orbs until they fall into a sewer environment with orbs and spikes. A cutscene then shows the player returning to the surface.
  • 56-64%: The player is in a forest environment, while the player also rapidly changes game-modes: from the ball, to the cube, to the ship, and back to the cube. There are lots of jumps, which could be tricky at times.
  • 64-74% As the cube and ship, the player must jump over spikes, avoid saws, and time jumps. The player seems to be in a castle environment. Then another cutscene plays, showing the player facing off against a Roman knight (probably an Equites gladiator). It is also the level's boss fight.
  • 74-84%: As the ship, the player has to hit a red orb, then a toggle orb, then fly up to avoid getting punched, fly up again to avoid getting swung at by a sword and hit another toggle orb to progress further.
  • 84-100%: There is another boss fight where the player fights a skeleton with armour. The player has to hit a lot of orbs to progress (mainly toggle orbs). The player finally defeats the skeleton boss and completes the level.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Caput Mundi is a Latin phrase meaning 'Head of the world', historically used to signify Rome as the centre of political, cultural, and military power.[1]
  • Caput Mundi was Italy's sole entry to the World Gauntlet Contest. It went on to place sixth, ahead of Xanadu and behind Frostburn Peak.
