Template:Infobox Level Cimmerian Shade is a 2.1/2.2 Extreme Demon collaboration level created by SrGuillester, btLisp and AzuLer, and verified by spcreat. Known for its precise sync in music and fast transitions, SrGuillester built the gameplay while AzuLer decorated the level.

It is the second level AzuLer and SrGuillester have collaborated on, after Hatred, which was built in Update 2.0; however, SrGuillester only verified Hatred and did not build any part of it. Cimmerian Shade is also not a sequel to that level since another level called Deathwish is the sequel to Hatred, according to AzuLer.

Gameplay

Template:Outdated/Section

  • 0-18%: The level starts with a cube section consisting of numerous triple-spike jumps that are a few pixels wider than a normal one, which, in turn, requires more precise timing. Next, the player enters a mini-cube segment with precise timings synchronised to the music.
  • 18-31%: The player slows down and enters a quadruple speed mini-spider section, which has timings synced with the song; however, some beats require the player to spam twice really fast or press both the mouse and space bar (on PC), press both sides of the screen (On mobile),[Note 1] or press two buttons (with a controller) at the same time to go down and up instantly. Afterwards, the player transitions into a normal spider segment with syncing beats and a UFO segment with slight timings. It changes into a ship sequence in which the player must fly through a tight passage with invisible spikes above and below them. It will change gravity in the middle at the same time as a set of two yellow orbs that the player must avoid appears, after the second yellow orb, the player will change back to normal gravity and must then time three green orb clicks.
  • 31-61%: The level slows down with the music and turns into a quadruple speed dual wave section. This wave section requires remarkably fast reflexes and skills to move the wave, as one wave goes over big ramps while the other has to go through spikes through non-collision blocks. Next, the player enters a slightly straight wave segment for a few seconds. The player slows down during a break sequence. It goes into a cube with a sextuple-spike jump and into a slow buildup with dash orb timings corresponding to the beat of the music.
  • 61-81%: The level follows up into a triple-speed swing copter section with straight-flying at the start and narrow spaces requiring the player to click fast to go up and down. The player then enters a cube section with slight spamming and timings before going into the last buildup. The player then goes through a slow speed change as the buildup continues with wide double spikes that require precise timing.
  • 81-100%: Finally, the beat drops, and the player enters a half-speed wave section where everything, except for the player, is completely pitch black, reducing their vision. Here, the player must go through very tight spaces with non-collision boxes. It turns into a mini-ship with the pitch-black effect persisting with rotating obstacles that the player must fly through containing one-space-wide spike gaps at the end. The last part is a pitch-black cube section with a few wide double-spike jumps. After this, the level is over.

Trivia

  • Cimmerian Shade was rated on 26 April 2025, over 20 months after its verification.
  • Cimmerian Shade was initially placed at #59 on the Demonlist on 25 May 2025, above Oblivion and below BPATA MPAKA.
    • This addition pushed Judgement Knights into the Extended List and Nabil Let Go into the Legacy List.
  • Some people think Cimmerian Shade is harder than unnerfed INNARDS.
  • Sunix has posted the level 'Cimmerian Shade 2', simply the fully decorated version of Cimmerian Shade with a start position at 20% placed. People are starting to wonder if he was hacked and if the hacker leaked the level. The ID is 46152209.
  • Sunix was initially supposed to be the verifier, but as he moved to Osu!, it shifted to SrGuillester before being shifted for the last time to Technical, who then dropped it. However, there is no proof that Technical was verifying the level.
  • Cimmerian Shade evolved into a verification race, with spcreat getting a previous personal best (and world record at the time) of 82% and 30-100% before verifying it on 12 August 2023.
  • btLisp reconstructed Cimmerian Shade from AzuLer's version.
