Cosmic Cyclone is a 2.1 Extreme Demon hosted by Zimnyte and Riot, created by Cyclic and Zhander, decorated by members of APTeam, and verified by DoSh7t. According to Riot and the other creators, the level is the sequel to Sonic Wave. Like its predecessor, Cosmic Cyclone is made in the style of Nine Circles levels, as well as having similar gameplay features as Sonic Wave, but unlike Sonic Wave, Cosmic Cyclone has 2.1 decoration. The main difficulty of Cosmic Cyclone are quadruple speed wave parts with frequent changes in gravity and size, just like its predecessor. All this is combined with narrow aisles between the blocks.
History
This level first appeared in 2017. On November 28, 2017, DollarC released its first stream. Sunix, Riot and Cyclic are all involved in gameplay of this level. The person who would verify the level should be Combined, and the person who would decorate was unknown. The first level preview was released on the same day. It showed a part of the wave.
In December 2017, Zhander released his version of the Cosmic Cyclone layout, which later became the official version. On January 10, 2018, Combined reached 36-100% on Zhander’s layout.
After that, unfortunately, there was no news about the level for quite a long time, and there were even rumors that the level had been canceled. However, on August 20, 2018, another redesigned layout was released, but it was released by Zimnyte. Facts had proved that this level has been handed over to APTeam. Brittank88 and Zhander participated in the re-design of the game. This level had become more complex, and some places such as ship parts were completely changed. In addition, many parts of the game become more unpleasant and chaotic. Zimnyte himself said that this level should become first on the list.
From that moment on, the APTeam's version of the level is considered official. On February 7, 2019, APTeam released a mega-collaboration. In addition, the gameplay of ships had changed dramatically. The unpleasant parts have been removed and replaced by cube, while the cube before drop has been replaced by ball parts.
On April 15, 2019, while the level was released, Ossy Flawol built and released its unofficial but verified version of Cosmic Cyclone. Meatius Gaming is designated as the verifier of this version. On June 11, 2019, Meatius get 53% on its version.
On August 17, 2019, Meatius get 90%. Unfortunately, there has been no other progress since this record. Soon after, Wolff was appointed as the verifier, but he made no significant progress.
On August 20, 2019, a video of the progress of verification was released. On February 29, 2020, Zimnyte showed his part in Cosmic Cyclone. However, in the final version of the level, it was replaced somehow.
The final preview was released on April 24, 2021. It shows significant changes in gameplay and decorations. The part of the ball was completely changed, and the part in front of the ball was changed back to the ship. Except for the ball, almost every part was decorated. There are only optimization levels and bug fixes left.
On September 24, 2021, after three years of construction, the full version of Cosmic Cyclone was finally released. This level should have been verified by Combined, but for some reason, he dropped the level and DoSh7t became the new verifier. On November 29, 2021, DoSh7t verified the level in 12,000 attempts. In his opinion, this level is harder than Sonic Wave and Bloodlust, but easier than kowareta.
On December 11, 2021, the level was rated. On January 4, 2022, it was placed on the Geometry Dash Demonlist.
Gameplay
Cosmic Cyclone's gameplay is very similar to its predecessor, Sonic Wave.
Cosmic Cyclone begins with a very difficult red orb transition, which leads into a green orb. Following that there are lots more difficult jumps and transitions. The player then becomes a ship, which has to fly through annoyingly tight spaces and diagonal pillars. After a cube bounces through a series of jump orbs and pads, they become a ball, however it is a 1x speed ball, rather than Sonic Wave's -1x speed ball. In this section the player must late click various orbs and fit through small gaps between spikes, being a ridiculously hard section of the level. After becoming a mini dual, like Sonic Wave, the player goes into the infamous Nine Circles wave, but unlike most levels, it is a 4x speed wave, rather than the classic 3x speed wave. In the wave, the player goes through ridiculously tight spaces and maneuvers through gravity portals and size portals at an alarming rate. The player then becomes a cube at 2x speed, keeping up the consistent difficulty of the level with super tight transitions off of orbs, and incredibly difficult jumps. The player enters another painful Nine Circles wave, this time with various speed changes and once again gravity and size portals. This part also requires immense but precise spamming in the dual sections. The player becomes a cube again, this time with the difficulty spiking down a little bit, but still overall balanced, as this section is a hard memory one. The player goes into the final Nine Circles wave, and keeps the same ridiculous difficulty as the previous two waves, however with a significant design change. The player ends the level by spamming over the name "APTEAM", as the endscreen appears. During the endscreen, first the words "Cosmic Cyclone" appear, followed up by end credits showing the creator names, and finally, a very detailed picture shows up, ending the level.
