demon park is a 1.1/1.2 Easy Demon level by M2coL, published on 17 October 2013. It is the second level of Demon Pack 1.
Description
[edit | edit source]demon park is the first ever Demon level, inspiring the addition of the Demon rating in Update 1.3, and is now considered one of the easiest Demon levels. It features rudimentary block designs with spikes layered inside blocks that point in the direction for the icon to follow.
- 0-28%: demon park begins with a long and tricky normal-speed cube section. The player must jump over spikes and onto pillars and contend with constant gravity changes and blind jumps.
- 28-38%: Next comes a confusing mirrored ship sequence. This part is notable for featuring several different paths that sometimes crossover with each other. The player must choose which path to go and stick with it while trying not to get distracted by the other paths.
- 38-57%: Afterwards, there is another cube section. This section is as tricky as the previous one and requires some basic memory skills to clear. The player must jump over spikes and a cactus-like structure with the help of orbs and jump across pillars. Throughout this area, the player must contend with a few gravity changes. The player enters a blue mirror portal near the end as the next part begins.
- 57-71%: Next is a ball segment that begins with simple timings, then transitions into a cube section that heavily uses yellow orbs in the floor and ceiling and some gravity changes. The player must carefully use these orbs to jump over spikes.
- 71-84%: Next is a mirrored anti-gravity ship sequence. The player must fly around several large spikes and structures. Near the end, hit the first two yellow pads but not the third one to clear the area. Following this is a short and easy ball segment with a different background, and the player must dodge some obstacles using yellow orbs.
- 84-100%: The player then transitions into a difficult cube section with a regular background. First, the player must jump over numerous small obstacles. Afterwards, everything is simple. The background changes and the player must make a few more simple jumps. The final section begins with a mirrored ball segment featuring a different background. The gameplay becomes simple here, only lasting two seconds. Finally, the level ends.
Gameplay
[edit | edit source]Trivia
[edit | edit source]- demon park was rated on 22 November 2013, being one of the first five levels simultaneously rated with a Demon difficulty, itself being the oldest level to receive it.
- demon park itself is the direct inspiration for the name of the Demon difficulty rating.
- Because demon park was the first rated Demon, it was also the hardest rated level in Geometry Dash, and technically, the first instance of the hardest rated level in the game's history.
- This occurrence does not mean that it was the first Top 1 level, as that would go to the main level Can't Let Go due to being the hardest level at official release.
- However, worth mentioning is that the original Demonlist was started in 2015 by the player loogiah,[1] meaning all levels created before 2015 were not Top 1 for the simple reason of the list determining the hardest levels in the game not existing at the time.
- In addition, because of demon park, along with To the Grave and Extreme Park (two levels considered harder) being rated all together, it probably means that this level would not have been Top 1 if a list of the hardest levels would have been present at the time.
- Additionally, an arguably harder level that significantly precedes demon park exists in F by an unnamed player, with its ID being 2346 while demon park's is 10109. Though true difficulty can be disputed, F is perceived harder than demon park, according to the Impossible Levels List (ILL).[2] However, F was never rated.
- demon park was ranked #80 in Geometry Dash Today's list of 'The Top 100 Greatest Geometry Dash Levels Of All Time'.
- demon mixed reuses a section of demon park.
- Additionally, Demon world uses a few sections from demon park, all of which are slightly modified in some way.
- Sea made a GD Theory video about what would have happened if demon park did not exist and believed the Demon rating might not exist along with other famous levels such as Cataclysm.[3] During the level's initial release, demon park was considered an Insane-difficulty level (not rated at the time). Sea probably believed the Demon rating would not exist if not for demon park because it most likely inspired RobTop to create the Demon rating.
- demon park has an unofficial sequel; demon park 2, and a remix; demon park remixed; as well as a decorated version, all of which are rated.
- demon park was updated in Update 1.7 to fix a transition and visual bug, and again in Update 1.9. It also fixed a gameplay bug in one of the ball sequences.[4]
