==Description== ===General=== FURY OF 500 is an extremely long, room-based platformer with certain gimmicks throughout. It begins with simple rooms, but gradually increases in difficulty as the player progresses. Most of the rooms were designed by Split72 themselves, though many others were based on ideas suggested to them on Twitter. ===Structure=== The rooms in the level are 21 blocks wide and 9 blocks high, and all of them—except for room numbered 1 and room numbered 345—feature a checkpoint. From rooms numbered 1-344 and 345-510, the player progresses to the next room on the right. Rooms numbered 1-500 are divided into themed sections, each comprising around 100 rooms. Every section has its own music, background, and block colour, all of which change when the player enters a new section. The names of the five main sections are displayed in the first room of each section. Every room—except for the ending—has its own name displayed in the top-right corner, along with a room number in the top-left corner. If a room was not designed by Split72, the creator's name appears next to the room number. ===SECTION 1: GRACE (rooms numbered 1-100)=== FURY OF 500 begins with room numbered 1, titled 'THE BEGINNING'. In this opening room, the player can adjust the screen display, choosing between widescreen mode and a 4:3 aspect ratio. This section primarily focuses on basic platformer gameplay, introducing core mechanics such as spikes, saws, orbs, jump pads, invisible blocks, and other fundamental obstacles. The gameplay features multiple game-modes, including cube, ship, UFO, and spider. Needle gameplay—where the player jumps onto platforms with spikes by exploiting the smaller spike hitbox—already appears within this section. Due to numbering errors, this section contains 102 rooms instead of exactly 100. Visually, the rooms feature white blocks against a blue background decorated with pale, rotating flower-like objects, and the section uses the song 'Eclipse' by milkypossum. ===SECTION 2: HEAT UP (rooms numbered 101-200)=== When the player enters room numbered 101, the level's music changes for the first time, and the colour palette also begins to shift. Like the previous section, this one mainly focuses on basic platformer gameplay while introducing additional core mechanics, such as robot and ball gameplay. Many rooms in this section feature conveyor belts, which accelerate the player in the direction they are moving, allowing for longer jumps and faster movement. Room numbered 190 is the first room in the level where square orbs appear—special triggers that instantly kill the player when activated. Despite the numbering inconsistencies, this section contains exactly 100 rooms. Visually, rooms numbered 101-150 feature orangish blocks against a red background with a rotating gear, while rooms numbered 151-200 use a plain red background. An exception is room numbered 196, where a thorn-like enemy object appears in the background. The section uses the song 'Split Floppin 72' by Akiri. ===SECTION 3: COLLAPSE (rooms numbered 201-300)=== The main gimmick of this section is the introduction of falling blocks, which drop when the player hits their top side. These blocks first appear in room numbered 202 and are marked with a leaf-like object. Even when the player is upside down, the blocks must still be hit from their top side to activate them, meaning gravity changes do not alter how they function. This section also introduces keys, which, once collected, remove blocks marked with keyholes. Keys first appear in room numbered 251. Due to the absence of numbering errors, this section contains exactly 100 rooms. Visually, rooms numbered 201-250 feature light green blocks set against a dark green background with a rotating wheel, while rooms numbered 251-300 use a plain dark green background. The section uses the song 'Manic' by cYsmix. ===SECTION 4: STANDARD PROCEDURE (rooms numbered 301-400)=== The main gimmick of this section is the introduction of timer blocks, which cause blocks with marked corners to appear temporarily when the player activates one. These blocks are first introduced in room numbered 301 and are identified by a watch-like symbol. Room numbered 326 introduces background saws that can also kill the player, a hazard that reappears multiple times throughout the remainder of the level. In room numbered 344, the creator reaches the horizontal limit of the editor. As a result, unlike nearly every other room (except the final one), progression no longer occurs through the hole in the bottom-left corner; instead, the player activates a trigger that teleports them to the next room. Because of numbering errors, this section contains 102 rooms rather than exactly 100. Visually, rooms numbered 301-394 feature light pink blocks against a purplish background with a rotating scythe, while rooms numbered 395-400 use a plain purplish background. The section uses the song 'ENATORA' by Zekk. ===FINAL SECTION: ROSEMARY (rooms numbered 401-500)=== The final section does not revolve around a single main gimmick. Instead, it introduces several smaller mechanics that each last for roughly two to three rooms, with no gimmick persisting throughout the entire section. Despite this, it contains some of the hardest rooms in the level, requiring the player to master their platforming skills to progress. The last room of the section—and the final main room of the entire level—was designed by thearmyants, the creator of How to platformer. The room is titled 'HOW TO PLATFORMER STAGE 2025', a reference to How to platformer featuring 2024 rooms. Due to the absence of numbering errors, this section contains exactly 100 rooms. Visually, the section presents white blocks set against a rosemary-coloured background, accompanied by rotating hexagon decorations. The section uses the song 'I Can't Even Remember My Own Name' by Frums. ===Ending (final 10 rooms)=== After beating room numbered 500, the level's song changes for one last time to 'Autumn Nights' by Babaka. The block colours fade slowly to white, while the background fades to black. The rotating hexagons slowly blend into the background, and grass and flowers appear on the floor. The ending consists of 10 unnumbered and unnamed rooms featuring half-speed cube gameplay. The first six rooms contain basic spikes and blocks that the player can easily jump over. The seventh room contains a small spike in the middle, along with a large 'CONGRATS' message and a heart over it. The eighth room features the final spike of the level with the level's logo above it, consisting of the name 'FURY OF 500' with two stars on each side. In the ninth room, Split72 gives special thanks to everyone who helped create the level. The last room of this section, and of the entire level, features a night sky with the moon positioned in the middle and two semi-solids beneath it. By using the semi-solids to reach the moon, the level ends upon the player touching it.
