Moderators are Geometry Dash players whose accounts have been granted special tools for monitoring and moderating elements relating to player activity, being introduced in Update 2.0.

Description

A player can receive one or more of three moderator statuses by the selection of the game's developer. As of Update 2.11, a moderator can be distinguished by an M badge appearing next to their username on both their profile page and comments (excluding leaderboard moderators).

  • Leaderboard moderator: Monitors the global leaderboards and level specific leaderboards to prevent illegitimate submissions, including managing player whitelisting for the global Top 1000 leaderboards. They were first assigned in Update 2.11 and were officially included in Update 2.2.
  • Moderator: Can submit unrated levels and suggest difficulties (including having a higher priority in suggesting Demon difficulty ratings) to the developer for review, as well as add levels to the Sent tab. Comments made by moderators are highlighted light green (#C8FFC8).
  • Elder moderator: Possesses the same abilities as a regular moderator (superseding the rank), and additionally can delete comments on levels, can give players temporary bans from commenting, can remove non-featured user levels with under 1,000 downloads from the server, as well as whitelist featured Newgrounds artists. Comments made by elder moderators are highlighted dark green (#4BFF4B).
  • Developer: Possesses all moderator abilities. Comments made by developers are highlighted cyan, although they retain the elder moderator badge. The only developer right now is the creator of Geometry Dash, RobTop.

Application

Typically, the process to get promoted to Geometry Dash Moderator or Geometry Dash Leaderboard Moderator is through the Moderator form or Leaderboard Moderator form respectively. Two or three members of the respective teams anonymously reads every application, and notes any interesting applications. These applications are later reviewed by the team's Discord server. If the application is strong, the applicant is active in the community, and the applicant is relevant to the position, the candidate may be given to Robtop, who has the final say.[1]

Elder Moderator promotions are reserved only for existing Moderators that are interesting in helping moderate comments, levels, and more. You cannot apply for this position.

Trivia

  • Moderators did not have highlighted comments until a server-side update enabled this on 17 September 2020.
  • Prior to Update 2.1, the Mod Suggestion button was located beneath the Rate button, also having an identical appearance.
  • You are not required to use the Moderator or Leaderboard Moderator forms to get promoted.
