Plasma Pulse Finale (abbreviated as PPF) is a 2.1 Extreme Demon collaboration level by Smokes and Giron, verified and published by the former on 29 October 2017.[1] It is the fourth and final instalment to the Plasma Pulse series, succeeding Plasma Pulse, Plasma Pulse II and Plasma Pulse III. The level features a diverse range of gameplay and decoration. It is known for formerly being one of the hardest timing levels in the game.

Plasma Pulse Finale placed at #2 on the Demonlist before being shifted to #1 a month later, surpassing Sonic Wave; it would remain in the Top 150 until 15 August 2024, making it the fourth-longest standing list level behind Sonic Wave, Bloodlust, and Zodiac.

History

[edit | edit source]

Plasma Pulse Finale was first revealed to the public when Giron began previewing some of his gameplay and other parts in March 2017.

However, Giron later quit Geometry Dash entirely, leaving it up to Smokes himself to decorate and create the entire level.

About a month later, Smokes released a now-deleted preview of the full level, although the gameplay was unfinished. On 27 April 2017, Smokes released another preview, showcasing the remaining finished gameplay.[2]

After finishing the decoration, Smokes began making progress, achieving 54% and then 62% just one day later. He then got records of 74%, 90% and 94% in two months.

Eventually, on 29 October 2017, just a day after getting the record of 94%, Smokes finally verified Plasma Pulse Finale.[1] It was placed at #2 on the Demonlist and eventually became #1 after many people played the level and found it and Gamma harder than Sonic Wave. A few weeks later, Plasma Pulse Finale was dethroned from its #1 spot by Bloodlust.

Description

[edit | edit source]
  • 0-14%: Plasma Pulse Finale begins with a cube section full of timings, fake orbs, paths, teleport portals and multiple shake triggers. Next is a small spider segment that requires precise clicks and a size change, culminating in an inverted cube that leads to a challenging ball section, which also requires precise clicks and precise timing. The player proceeds into a complex mini-cube section featuring numerous orbs and small blocks.
  • 14-33%: A slow jump transitions into a spider dual at triple speed with confusing gameplay. It eventually returns to normal speed, with tight timings that sync with the song's beat. Following that is a ship section with a very mixed gameplay style, featuring orbs, gravity changes, and straight-fly. The player then passes through a series of invisible teleport portals, leading to a UFO section. This segment includes multiple gravity changes and teleport portals to confuse the player. The player then enters a spider portal, which maintains the fast-paced gameplay and requires quick reactions to reach the upcoming robot section.
  • 33-57%: This robot starts in solo form but shortly after turns into a robot/cube dual. As with the previous dual segment, this also contains tricky gameplay. However, this time, it lasts much longer. This dual segment lasts about five seconds and quickly transitions to a single cube via a teleport portal. The cube only contains a few jumps and slows down shortly for the player to catch a breath. This short break follows up with even more orb-based gameplay, similar to the first part of the level, only this time, at triple speed. After this long maze-like setting, the cube changes into a mini-wave, taking on narrow sections with a gravity portal, followed by a UFO segment with two jumps and a short auto-cube section. Then comes another mini-wave segment, this one shorter. It leads to another auto jump into a robot approaching a teleport portal, sending the player into a fast straight-fly into a short mini-cube section, followed by a mini-ball segment with a few difficult timings to conclude this fast-paced part.
  • 57-78%: The player slows down to half speed. The song also suggests that the entire level will soon slow down, adopting a more sinister tone. It begins with a lengthy cube segment, primarily focusing on orb timings and many portals to look out for. A while in, the cube will turn into a robot as preparation for the second coin of the level, obtainable through doing a shorter timing and hitting a yellow orb jump instead of a full safe jump. Keeping with the slow pace is a short mini-swing-copter, followed by a spider with multiple invisible teleport portals. A custom orb acts as a teleport portal, and a red pad takes the player to the next ship section. This ship features short straight-flying with orbs placed in gravity portals for manoeuvring purposes. After this segment, a slow yet tight wave segment with various obstacles attempts to prevent the player from moving forward. Then comes a mini-ball, starting with many teleport portals and pads, eventually replaced by gravity portals for the second half.
  • 78-100%: A cube section follows where the song begins to build up. The gameplay consists of various elements, including all kinds of orbs that the player must time precisely, as well as size and gravity portals scattered throughout, constantly changing the gameplay style. As the cube approaches a normal-speed portal, the song returns to an upbeat tempo. The level concludes with another lengthy cube section, housing the third coin of the level, featuring more rapid gameplay as a mini-cube. Then, the player enters a robot segment that returns to a cube before the level ends, with the creators' names appearing above a red pad that sends the player to the end.

User coins

[edit | edit source]
  • The first coin is located at 4%. If the player hits the green orb after jumping on the third small block at the right time, they will obtain the first coin and not be killed by the spikes below; instead, they will teleport above.
  • The second coin is located at 64%. If the player jumps just right to go between the spikes instead of going over them, they will obtain the second coin and can hit the orb to avoid crashing.
  • The third and final coin is located at 92%. If the player jumps later than usual on the slope, they will go just far enough to obtain the third and final coin. This coin requires precise timing and skill.
