Project BUZZKILL is a 2.2 Extreme Demon platformer level by Superkobster, verified on 13 October 2024.[1] It is an avoidance level where the player acts as a test subject in a room, dodging attacks as the jetpack game-mode.

Description

[edit | edit source]

Intro

[edit | edit source]

Project BUZZKILL begins in a dark room with the player as a jetpack in the centre of the screen. Text reading 'Project: BUZZKILL' and 'ID: #3711268' can be seen. Then it suddenly fades to black, and the level starts.

Yellow phase

[edit | edit source]

This phase has the player dodging lasers and columns of spikes. Near the end of this phase, sawblades appear as the screen zooms in, while lasers enclose, forcing the player to fly in the middle.

Orange phase

[edit | edit source]

The player is still forced to go in the middle as a burst of horizontal lasers appears from a new set of laser guns. Then the lasers turn vertical, requiring the player to go up as spikes thrust up under them. The pattern is similar to the yellow phase, but this time using both the new laser guns and the original four to create more intense patterns. At the end of this phase, the player flies in the middle to avoid the horizontal lasers that enclose.

Red phase

[edit | edit source]

This is the last phase before the 'break part'. Sawblades are now used in conjunction with the lasers and spikes, and the player is forced to fly in the middle a lot more. In the middle of the phase, it briefly zooms in as lasers force the player to go down, then up. Just like the previous two phases, it ends with enclosing lasers.

Break

[edit | edit source]

There is no gameplay in this part, giving the player a break. The player can still fly around in this part. The following quotes appear:

  • 'Excellent effort so far, subject.'
  • 'Proceed with the next phase of testing!'
  • 'Now? But sir, they need time to--'
  • 'Hey, who's in charge here?!'
  • 'Right... You sure they can handle it?'
  • 'Of course they can - Engage phase 4!'

The camera then zooms in as sawblades appear, ending the break.

Pink phase

[edit | edit source]

The sawblades are permanently active as the player must rapidly manoeuvre through the numerous attacks, notably rotating lasers that appear twice throughout this phase. After the second rotating laser set, the player must straight-fly on the left side of the screen, as lasers and spikes limit the available space to fly.

Purple phase

[edit | edit source]

The last phase of the level is similar to the first phase. At the end of the phase is a long straight-fly segment where the lasers and spikes enclose the player, ending the level.

Ending

[edit | edit source]

Just like the break, there is no gameplay at the end, and the player can still fly around. The following quotes appear:

  • 'Unbelievable... You did it!!'
  • 'Nice dude, Damn.'
  • 'Over 3 million tests and lives lost...'
  • 'I knew your species to be special!'
  • 'You and I have a lot of work to do.'
  • 'If you look up, it should open in a sec.'
  • 'See you soon...'

The top spikes retract, revealing the end of the level. When reaching the end, text saying 'GG. BUZZKILL by Superkobster' appears with a heart under the text.
