Sidestep is a 2.0/2.1 Easy Demon level created by ChaSe, and is the first level in the Demon Gauntlet. It is generally considered to be an Easy/Medium Demon. Beating the level in the gauntlet reveals the path to the next level, Traction.
Gameplay
- 0-10%: The level starts with a simple half-speed mini-cube section containing a few easy jumps. In this section, the player has the possibility to disable special effects to improve performance.
- 11-14%: The level transitions to ship gameplay. This section contains a couple of gravity- and size portals.
- 15-20%: Afterwards, a bit of ball gameplay appears. This section features basic gameplay that finishes with gravity portals and orbs.
- 21-38%: After an automatic transition, the song beat drops, and the player begins to rapidly change gamemodes as follows: wave, UFO, cube, ship, ball, wave, cube, UFO, wave and ball, with each gamemode lasting no more than a couple of seconds. After the last ball segment, the player transitions into a brief double-speed cube section that contains a couple sets of triple spikes, and the first user coin.
- 39-55%: The player jumps into another deluge of gamemode transitions in triple-speed - although the transitions are a bit slower this time. Here, the ship sequences and the UFO segments need quite a bit of straight-fly skill and dexterity to pass.
- 56-72%: The player enters a double-speed dual cube segment with numerous moving blocks and constant size portals. It also contains a dual cube and ball segment consisting of orb timings and gravity portals.
- 73-91%: After an automatic transition, the player enters a triple-speed ship sequence that requires some sense of straight-fly to pass. A fast and tricky cube section follows, which soon changes into wave, UFO, wave, and a cube section.
- 92-100%: Finally, the player enters a tricky half-speed ship sequence. After some spike-dodging, the level ends with pixel art of the level's name and the creator's name.

Trivia
- The level cannot be copied.
- Originally, Sidestep was rated as a Hard Demon, but after it got nerfed, it was demoted to a Medium Demon and later to an Easy Demon.
- This sparked controversy around the community, as many think it is too difficult to be considered an Easy Demon.
- Due to said controversy, many players often consider Sidestep to be one of the hardest Easy Demons in the game.
- There is a text saying "Every level needs a triple" in the triple spike part.
- The level received an update in June 2022, fixing a bug at the dual which made it impossible on higher refresh rates.
